BadgerLALA Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I think it's much better than the 'Oh love' video. Love the motorcycles scene in the beginning.
ltrbmb17 Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I love it pretty much in spite of it seemed to me a light version of 'Oh,Love' video. Energetic song with plenty of the band appearings - that's what i love! *Billie's hairy nose, hahahahah
solongfromthestars Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 It's definitely better than Oh Love, but still pretty boring and... odd. Somebody fire Sam Bayer, please. There's some nice shots of the band though.
Disapperingirl Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I just watched - didn't watch the non HQ version- and I honestly loved it! It's everything I was expecting the Oh Love video to be, and so much better... And somehow it reminded me of the American Idiot and Holiday videos!

I can definitely see the Holiday video vibe, but I'm not sure where you'd get American Idiot XD.
Starred Thoughts Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Definitely prefer this one over 'Oh Love'. I also really enjoy the performance in this one; it feels like they're into it more.
KatherineKerplunk Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I really loved the motorbike scene. Although, this video is nothing amazing but still so much better then Oh Love.
HeeeyOhhhBillieJoe Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 It reminded me of When I Come Around when they walked into the club.
Femme Gauche Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 It reminded me of When I Come Around when they walked into the club. Wow, you're right, they do look like they did in that video. I haven't watched that one in aaages.
Disapperingirl Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I can definitely see the Holiday video vibe, but I'm not sure where you'd get American Idiot XD. Probably it's because of the close-ups of Billie's face with that green/blue light, you know
St. Jimmy the Troublemaker Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I wasn't impressed with the video, at all. It is better than "Oh Love", but that wasn't very hard to accomplish. I feel that they should seriously think about what the next single will be and who will direct the music video. No more Sam Bayer!
Ritz Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I like watching it in HD finally but somewhere I still feel meh about this video. The biking sequences are great, I love that part and as everyone said, its a tad longer.
charlatans&saints Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 i definitely liked it more than Oh Love. Billie walking through the club reminded me a lot of him walking through town in BOBD. but i loved his unimpressed face, since thats how i feel when pop music is playing anywhere
Nzap Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I would've preferred that the video would've cut to the performance every 10 seconds or so in the beginning as well. I'm uncomfortable in music videos that have people singing but noone is singing in the video. I mean, it wouldn't really have done any harm if there would've been that would it?

I dunno, I don't think non-band members singing would've fit, and I think if the band had been singing during the non-performance parts, the vibe would have been lost.
A song for the lovers Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 the video is so wierd, but the song is so catchy and lovely
Brian Gag Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Green Day on motorcycles? Maybe they should have been playing card games on them, too.
The Snark Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 After watching it 4 times, I can say that I quite like it and the song is growing on me. Although I was hoping for something completely crazy and fun like Ke$ha's video for Blow. Now I'm going to watch it again and play "Where's Jason".

I don't really want Green Day to match up with Ke$ha in any way XD.
The Snark Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I don't really want Green Day to match up with Ke$ha in any way XD. Dear lord, no! But I wanted something very WTF, like zombies and narwhals...or zombie narwhals.
Femme Gauche Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Dear lord, no! But I wanted something very WTF, like zombies and narwhals...or zombie narwhals. Oh, I see. XD. I don't actually watch Mtv except when Green Day is on it, so I don't really know about other artists' videos... But I wouldn't have expected something compeltely out of whack for this video because... as simplistic as it is there is a point to it xP.
ChelseaDagger Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Dear lord, no! But I wanted something very WTF, like zombies and narwhals...or zombie narwhals. zombie narwhals!!!
imabout2break Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I like the video. I love the motorcycle scene (i do coz i love riding mc) but i don't like the 'bloody' parts.
Trina Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 So, I realised last night in my usual 4am, insomnia fueled, genius-like state what my problem with the videos is (Oh Love and Kill The DJ)... There's this detachment. A coolness, both feigned attitude-wise and temperature/vibe wise. It's all greys and blues and cool tones. Cold. Green Day are detached. They're forced to act like rockstars. Inaccessible. There's all these borders and lines and separations between the band and everything else. Y'know the way generally someone is thought of as cool if they're all detached and don't give a shit. Yeah, well I never have much time for people like that. Sam Bayer is trying to make them seem like this when they're not at all. Just because Sam wants to be cool and is having a mid-life crisis (and seems to have been having one since birth!) doesn't mean he should project it on Green Day and their videos. It's not Green Day at all, these videos. All their previous videos were SO Green Day. You just fucking knew it was them, y'know?! Green Day are not, have never been and will never be cool, neither will their fans or liking them or anything got to do with them!! And that's fine! But Sam is trying to change this, make them cool. But they are warm, they're reds and oranges, passion, and friendliness. Goofiness. There are no lines and if there are they're certainly very blurred. It's all very messy. The fans and the band and all the craziness in between. It's literally like he's trying to fit a warm, squishy, comfy, fun circle into an angular, edgy, cool, detached square that's too small, floating away on hipster island. I dunno, I dunno, I'm not sure I'm making any sense. I actually like the videos! But it's not the same as the way I am with their others. I wouldn't casually google one to make me smile when I feel sick or sad. I might crack a smile but I wont be falling onto the floor laughing from my heart, or crying from it, or feeling particularly attached... So weirdly, maybe he's achieved that? The detachment? They seem detached, the video is detached and it makes me feel detached. It's just not me...and I don't think it's them. It's weird to think the guy who made American Idiot, the video that grabbed my attention like nothing before (or after), that turned my life upside-down... that he's also making these lacklustre, heartless cold videos for a band that are all about heart. ("Our passion is our strength") He doesn't get it, he just doesn't get it and it's a real shame. I'm under the impression he'll be making all the videos for UDT or at least Uno and honestly, I hope that's not the case and that they're not tied into it because he is not doing the right job for them. Not at all. I expected a departure with this era and I was fine with that. Experimentation is good, change is good, moving forward is good. But with the music videos, there's been a departure but where it's meant to be going, I don't know.
Fuzz Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 We need screenshots of the high quality version of the music video to put on GDA. Anyone willing to make some?
