pasalaska Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 what band is Lady Cobra a member of? Mystic Knights of the Cobra
Vespertine Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Is it weird that I like Nightlife better than Lady Cobra? Like I'm completely blown away by that song. It turned out a lot better than I'd expected, wow.
Guest emmylove Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I know what rap sounds like, this is not it. Like I said, Rap is rhythmic talking over a beat, that is exactly what is happening in the chorus I would love to hear what rap is to you.

I don't hear "rhythmic talking over a beat" in this song, I hear singing in a whisper, which I've already stated. Again, we will have to agree to disagree. I simply hear something different that doesn't sound like rap at all to me.

She is still speaking rhythmically....over a beat...Rap.
Khris Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I fail to hear how this isn't rap haha. I love this song though.
Guest Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 but Rhythmic whispering is still talking It's hardly a whisper and is hardly singing. She is still speaking rhythmically....over a beat...Rap. Opinions are like assholes, as the saying goes. I think she's singing in a whisper, arguing with me about it doesn't change anything. I don't hear what you hear, bottom line.

heart on a noose Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I like both of the song, but prefer Lady Cobra.. sounds alot like fbht. And Nightlife, hmm very different from everything that Green Day made so far, as it was expected since it has rap parts, but it's good. Interesting to hear something like that.
bjrules Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Holy shit. Nightlife is so different to what I was expecting, and I was honestly a bit underwhelmed at first, but now I fucking love it Lady Cobra is great as well, but I think I like Nightlife better for now.
angry_robot Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 When I first heard Nightlife I was all like: WTF, that's not really bad, but it's so weird... And after second and third listen I started to get used to it and now I like it. But Lady Cobra is just pure energy. I fell in love with it. Epicness.
Sixtrix Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I'm not a big fan of the effect on Billie's vocals in Nightlife. It sounds kind of unpleasant in my opinion. Maybe I need to listen to it a couple of time more when the album is out. But I like the overall laid-back sound of the song though. Love the bass.

DannyDirnt Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Good ones. I liked the rap, but I hope Billie's voice is normal and that weird thing in his voice is only the recording.
Neon Light Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Didn't like Nightlife after first listen, but after a few more plays I realised that it's AWESOME. I like the effects on Billie's voice, fits perfectly with Lady Cobra. I probably won't listen to it much on its own, but I think it will fit perfectly in the album. ¡Dos! Is sounding better and better.
DannyDirnt Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I listened to it, but no problem because I already forgot how it sounded...
spark in the night Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I was hoping for more of a Missy Elliot kind of rap style.
iRun Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 I really like Nightlife. I like the lyrics, plus it's..... unique.
WestboundSign! Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 These songs, especially Nightlife, are pretty extraordinary. Still I'm not quite sure if I like them. Right now, I'm okay with them. Hopefully I'll start to get more used the them soon
Vic_Rattlehead Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Why is everyone going on about Billie's voice in Nightlife? It's just a kind of distortion effect, it's not like a massive earache to listen to. I like it, the chorus is really catchy

I just prefer his normal voice, but I guess the live version (if there will be one) will have Billie's normal voice so no problem.

I like it, the chorus is really catchy after elaborating on this song a bit i think this effect on billie's voice is great..it sounds like his voice is kinda fucked up, and that makes me get a better idea of this whole "with DOS you are at the party" thing, coz at parties you sometimes get wasted and stuff ^^
cabot_girl Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I just have to say Nightlife is amazing, and I just love Lady Cobras addition to the song. These albums must be the best Green Day has ever made. WOW!!!!!!! And when I found out Rusty James is Last gang in town, it made my day:-))
