I'm wondering if the nightlife version we've heard is the final one, I mean, the vocals to start the song are a little too loud for me - maybe it wasn't the final mix.

It'd be cool if Nightlife was updated a bit, but it's probably the final version. Billie's weird vocals are growing on me but it is still the weak part of the song.

there's a tiny tiny similarity. Like saying Black Parade sounds like Bohemian Rhapsody. They use a similar guitar style, but the White Stripes don't own that sound

Hmm, they do sound slightly similar I guess if you stretch it, but I wouldn't call it a rip off at all. Remember, Green Day is trying out different styles here, so it's something they might not be completely used to yet. Hence, they will probably try to build on the knowledge they have of that type of music and until they familiarize themselves more with it and develop their own unique take on it, of course they are going to be reminiscent of other songs and artists.

They have a few similarities, but I wouldn't call it a rip off.. not at all.. But now that we're at similarities, I find that the intro to Stay the Night has a few similarities to Fly The Flag by Stiff Little Fingers.. Check it out:

there is a small similarity but most bands eventually end up making music that will sound similar to other bands sounds so really all i can say is meh its still an awsome song so it doesnt bother me.

Seriously? One line of Lady Cobra beard a resemblance to one line from Fell in Love with a Girl and you call it a ripoff? I don't think Green Day purposefully made it the same F# to A progression...

A similarity between two songs isn't really a big enough subject to have a whole thread about, pretty much every song in existence sounds like another song in some way. There's dozens of similarities between Uno Dos and Tre songs and other songs, it's quite interesting to notice them but it doesn't mean it's a rip off.
