Anja Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I'm slightly disappointed to be honest. When I heard Let yourself Go for the first time, I thought this album was gonna kick ass, become my new favorite etc. But after hearing both Kill the DJ and this one, I'm a bit scared GD is going into a direction I'm not gonna like too much Luckily, there's like 33 more songs to hear. And maybe Troublemaker will grow on me and eventually become my favorite song I still have hope.
TheJedi Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 i searched for lyrics to Troublemaker on google, and found this http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/greenday/troublemaker.html... it's not like the song.. do you know if there was an earlier version of this song or something?

WrongWayToSalvation Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 That is one way to see it, but I highly doubt the band is resting on their laurels with this trilogy. They just worked hard to create a new album (but ended up with three) and when you got more songs to offer with a great variety of songs there will definetely be mixed opinions. It's just that the albums have something to offer to everyone. Maybe not a full album for everyone's likings, but they don't write songs so they know for sure that a big percentage of the audience will like it. They feel good about the new songs, but that's never a guarantee to have a great selling album or an album that is liked by a wide audience. Apart from this I think it is great how you strongly show your opinion, obviously because you care. I just hope you will find some songs on the new albums that you will like a lot, because you at least deserve that as a fan of course. And it always sucks to be disappointed. I've had that feeling with the last two albums of The Living End. I guarantee you that a large portion of these songs were just slapped together in 10-15 minutes. And just because the band likes them doesn't necessarily mean they're good. Green Day say they're their own harshest critics, but the reception to their new songs seems to be a lot harsher and negative then whatever they thought of them. Which could mean Green Day may have some sort of a narcissistic attitude when it comes to their own songs. I'd be willing to believe that when Tre says something like all of these albums are "Fucking genius" and Mike says that people will be "blown away" by these songs. That doesn't seem to be happening. Those are lyrics for Troublemaker by Weezer. Yeah those are. And they're pretty...pretty bad.
porksoda Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 A lot of their new songs sound like they're falling into the gap between Warning and American Idiot, especially this one. I'm not too fond of the chorus, it seems kind of like a cop out, but overall, I'm pleasantly surprised, as the American Idiot b-sides are some of my favorite Green Day songs. I think that's because most people want another Dookie or Insomniac, or even another American Idiot type album. People don't usually like when bands try to innovate and reinvent themselves, myself included, but I personally am pretty happy with the direction Green Day is headed in right now.
Clockwise Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 This is my favorite track so far. I think these records will be better than American Idiot, and I know that's not a popular opinion but it is mine. I'd listen to Foxboro over AI any day. I'm really excited that Green Day are making fun/dance-y music. I would not be happy with another concept album. Right now I personally need some cheering up and this music is doing just that! Green Day have done the 'serious' side of things and I'm over the moon that they are writing music with silly or simple lyrics that put a smile on my face. After all if you want some 'great lyrics like on American Idiot' you can always pop that record on. Me, I like change. I agree 100 percent. I think they actually are pretty tough on themselves, but what they think makes up a good song, might not be what you think makes up a good song. We can go around arguing over it's quality all day, but it's down to opinion. I don't think repetition is annoying or lazy, I think it works well with the song/vibe of the album. I'm betting that they do too, I doubt it would be that hard for Billie to come up with another line for the chorus, this is the way they wanted it. Also, just because a song was written in 10-15 minutes absolutely does not mean it's a bad song. Plenty of classics were written in less time.

I don't want a rehash of an album I've already heard. A lot of these new songs sound like rehashes of stuff we've already heard. With reused melodies and guitar riffs. It's like they're not really trying. Billie Joe writes a song in 5 minutes and it automatically goes straight onto the album with little to no consideration. That seems to be what's happening. When Billie wrote dozens of sings for 21st CB Butch Vig sat down with the band and helped to choose the strongest songs and improve upon them. But the process of these albums seem to be like this: Billie: "So Rob what do you think of the song so far?" Rob's strumming his guitar and not paying attention: "Hmm? What? Oh, yeah it's uh, great. I guess." Billie: "Sweet! We'll put it on the album." Rob: "Mmm, I'm gonna make me a sandwich." Billie: "Can you make me one too?" Rob: "Huh? Uh yeah, it sounds um...good. That should go on the album too."
Dalya Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Well, it's not even a single. There will always be some least favorite tracks. I was more curious about Sweet 16 and Rusty James... P.S. 21CB is brilliant! Don't criticize it too much...

I said "seem" I didn't say "was". Big difference. *sigh* Do people ever pay attention to anything nowadays? Or do they only hear what they want to hear?
Hermione Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Unbelievably FABULOUS . It's totally funky sounding, has hilarious lyrics with clever word play which I love ("I wanna get inside of you" , "a tattoo of a pig sniffing glue"), Billie's weird accent rules, the "da da da daaaaa" bit of the guitar sounds like the bit of guitar in Alligator that my little nephew always sings/hums along to which is awesome, and the instrumental bit that was just starting at the end of the clip sounds intriguing. Plus it sounds really Foxboro-y, and reminds me of Prima Donna. So many good things to be heard and it's not even the whole song! I fucking love all the songs I've heard from Uno. So fresh and fun!
Silent Duck Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Had flashbacks of Christian's Inferno listening to the chorus of Troublemaker. Seeing the words "Christian's Inferno" makes me want to assume the fetal position.
BradGreenDay Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Finally I Finished The Game Nice Song... Catchy
farley drexel hatcher Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I like it! kind of agree the chorus is a bit boring compared to the rest of the song but it's still fun. Not what I was expecting after everyone's whining. I love the lyrics and the sound of Billie's voice

We'll see when more interviews come out how long they spent on songs and the input Rob had in the studio.

I honestly don't even mind your differing opinion, it's the fact that all you do is throw out non-sensical bullshit or argue over semantics. People would probably actually read what you wrote if they gave a shit about what you said.

So sorry that I have a sense of a humor and like to post in weird styles. I say whatever I want to say. I personally think you ripped off my avatar, but hey it's whatever. This is a forum, not a comment section. Forums are MADE for conversations and/or arguments. You want to post a quick comment about how much you like/dislike something then go to a comment section. I don't stir things up, I just have am opinion that differs from a lot of other people's. If I was stirring shit up I would be saying things like "Green Day sucks! If you like Green Day then you're a poser with bad tastes!". I'm not throwing non-sensical stuff out. Throw a post of mine on here from this section that makes no sense and is completely left field with no reason for me saying it.
green day blink 182 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 #1 Rolling Stone has Uno! as the #1 album for this fall, and they've been on their dick recently so I'm expecting a good review. 4/5 #2 Don't judge to quickly, but yes, Uno! is on track for being the weakest so far, but we have a lot of tracks to hear. #3 KANYE, not Kayne. #4 Ye da gawd. MBDTF is a masterpiece. now i have to ask this are you on kanyetothe? AND yes ye da gawd
Clayish Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 We got ourselves a GDC beef about to start. now i have to ask this are you on kanyetothe? AND yes ye da gawd
Mandy_PunkRock Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I really like the song! Can't wait for sept. 25th I'm loving all the ¡Uno! songs !

Having an opinion is one thing. Complaining about the same thing over and over again is not going to solve this problem you are having with the new songs. Oh? But would you be alright with me spamming how much I love all of these songs over and over again? I'm sure you would be. Double standards baby, gotta love em.
