Yeah...my bad. I saw that a lot of people were getting annoyed with him so I decided to take measures into my own hands. Lol

Nah, no problem. I'm not mad at you. You're just trying to reason with him and his disproportionately high number of posts in here ;)

But I think we should let the disagreement be and get back to talking about Troublemaker. I want to hear more opinions! I personally like it a lot. Not as much as Oh Love and Kill The DJ, but it has a fun little groove to it. It's funny :)

...There weren't that many people that were annoyed with me. If you actually paid attention you'd see there were numerous people who agreed with me. But fine, I won't speak my mind anymore because evidently that's looked down upon in this establishment. Oh the irony.

There's nothing wrong with speaking your mind. You can have any opinion you want and I'll respect it.

It's just annoying when half of the posts in this thread are all by you. And they're not even entirely on topic.

There were like three people who said that they were agreeing with you. And I don't think that anybody has an issue with you speaking your mind as long as you do so in a way that is well thought out and logical. Saying "here's a song I wrote" and implying that it's better than what Green Day is doing is just arrogant as all hell and down right asinine. That's the stuff that I think people had problems with. Or all of your suggested dialogue between the band and Rob Cavallo. It just came off as prickish and arrogant. Well-formed opinions are accepted and encouraged. Notice how the 2nd half of the discussion between the two of us became a lot more civil due to the fact that you matured it a little bit and actually started discussing things in a rational manner. That led to me being able to show my mature side as well.

I'm not a big fan of this preview. It's too simple and pretty flat. My opinion might change when I hear the full version but from the live audios and other snippets of the songs from Uno, this is my least favorite by far. You know that feeling when every album has at least one meh-song, even a little bit. That one which you listen the least. For me from Uno, this MIGHT be it but I don't judge until I hear the whole album. :) It's still great that we get this much new stuff and snippets of new songs! Marketing for this album have been pretty great imo.

Yeah, I don't think this one is going to be my favorite.

However, I used to always skip Christie Road because it started out so slow. Once I bothered to listen to the whole thing (most importantly when it goes into the "Mother stay out of my way" bit) I realized that the slow part of the song is crucial. It starts out slow, and then hits you hard.

And I really liked what was going on towards the end of the clip, so maybe this will be a similar situation.

Everyone shut the hell up so I don't have to just scroll through this thread quickly to avoid all the non-sensicle arguing and bickering.

Ok Billie Joe, You can be a Troublemaker!! We all agree

Thank you, Matt. I was waiting for you to get here. I even mentioned you by name a page or so ago. Haha. I have self-control issues

sounds dirty and good.

It reminds me a great deal of old punk....like Sex Pistols, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers...The Damned.... (more so Billie's vocals, the music is pure GD though)

It seems like it's only going to be a 2 and a half minute long song, so I wonder if there will be a bridge or something in it.

Ok first off, that song I wrote was suppose to be a sort of s parody because of how it repeats, I never said it was better neither did I imply it was. It was joke song. Second I do the fake conversations things because it's fun to write out what the most outrageous scenarios behind the scenes were. If you took it seriously than that's your fault, obviously I was joking, because I said it SEEMED like that's what was happening. Then I'd write a fake satire/skit so that I won't be taken so seriously. But like I said, no one here seems to have a sense of humor. They take everything faaaar too seriously. I'm not gonna stop or censor myself because people take things too personal on a forum on the Internet.

I was originally on topic, but people keep replying to me and taking things sooo personally because they're having a fit because I'm not kissing Green Day's ass and I'm being very vocal about my opinion and openly expressing it and why I have that opinion. People don't seem too used with conflicting opinions, which I would understand. Hell look at the Green Day Authority comment section, if you aren't kissing Green Day's ass then you're gonna down voted to hell and attacked, and the a couple of the mods really aren't any better about it.

I actually enjoyed Troublemaker, it seems like a pretty good song.

I still can't really see how Billboard Magazine considered it a highlight, but whatever.

I don't understand why so many of you include Stay the Night in the group of repetitive songs. Of course the chorus repeats a couple of times the title, but I find it way too far from repetitiveness. Both the chorus and the main body of the song have a lot of variety imo.

Well, we were talking about just the choruses, not the songs in general. At least I wasn't.

I am also talking about the chorus. It is not that repetitive,at least not more repetitive than most of GD songs.

Stay the Night has a great chorus. It's an amazing song. No other opinions, if you dislike it you have problems. This is final.

I can't believe how so many people dislike this preview. I love it! I think I like this one better than the other 3 I've heard so far!

I can't believe anyone dislikes any of their new songs!

I think they're all excellent!

.... though Let Yourself Go is oddly overrated, imo. The worst so far, but still quite good.

I just didn't like Kill the DJ that much. Maybe it will grow on me, I don't know.

:shok: I love Kill The DJ. It's sexy and dancey.

But I also adore Oh Love, and a lot of people somehow found that boring, so....

Oh well, to each their own. Different opinions.

But I hope Kill The DJ does grow on you :)

I think that Let Yourself Go is the only one of the new songs that has nearly the same quality as older Green Day songs. Except the lyrics which are far away from genius, but they're fine, because they make sense... somehow. I don't know how to explain it.

Haha...I would rank everything we've heard except Let Yourself Go as being superior to what they have done in the past. That's what I love about this band's 23 year career :-)

Edit: And I actually prefer Let Yourself Go to most of their older stuff as well, it's just my least favorite of what we've got so far...but I still fucking LOVE it.

I know this will come across sounding offensive, so I just wanna make clear that it's not meant offensive at all, I'm just interested. Why exactly do you think their new material is better than everything they've done before?

To me, most songs sound as if they were by a better local band or something (not going to bash local bands, but you get the point... there's a reason why they're only local). The choruses and/or verses are repetitive, the lyrics are lame, there's no depth in them or I haven't found it yet, no metaphors like in older songs, no lyrics that just leave you like... wow! Plus, all the fucks don't make the lyrics any better. The music is fine... different from anything they've done so far, but that was to be expected. Yet, I feel like they've lost what made them so special. As I said, the music is fine, but that's it...

Oh, and please note that I only judge the songs I've heard so far and not the complete albums!

I definitely understand where you're coming from. And I don't take offense to anything that you said. I grew up on the oldies. Old school Rock & Roll like Buddy Holly, the Beatles, The Beach Boys, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc. I LOVE that they are going old school with their sound. That's what I always love about Foxboro Hottubs. These new songs all have such an old school rock vibe to them...and the solos are fucking killer! I also am a HUGE fan of the older Green Day lyrics, and it has always been one of my favorite parts of their writing. I guess I know that they are still capable of that and don't have to show it off in every song. I love the fact that they are just going down and dirty and writing fun songs.

Another point as far as the lyrics are concerned...one of my buddies (who LOVES Green Day's ability to write profound lyrics) mentioned to me that he was not impressed with the lyrics to Let Yourself Go because he thought they lacked the power that most of their songs have. I said this to him, "imagine that you're really pissed off at somebody and they keep trying to explain theirself. You all of a sudden get really gritty and say, 'shut your mouth 'cause you're talking too much...and I don't give a fuck anyways.'" To me that's really fucking powerful, even though it's not really deep. So, in my opinion, while the lyrics may not be as deep and metaphorical, they are still just as powerful...if not more so...just in a completely different way.

Edit:: To me, "I'm wearing my heart on a noose" is a fucking amazing lyrics. That has a lot of meaning and passion behind it. If I went through the songs we've heard so far, I guarantee you I could find more.

I absolutely love Foxboro Hot Tubs! I love their sound, but although they were just a product of a drunk night, a lot of their songs are better than Green Day's new material.

Funny you picked Let Yourself Go as an example, because it's actually the only one of the new songs that I really like. Sure, the lyrics aren't deep and meaningful either, but they fit perfectly to the general idea of the song, so it doesn't matter. But Kill the DJ for example has a great melody, it's really catchy. I just wish they could have come up with something better than "Someone kill the DJ, shoot the fucking DJ, someone kill the DJ, shoot the fucking DJ...." as a chorus. =/

But maybe you're right and we will find some more great lyrics in some of the songs. I just wish they'd be more obvious. When I heard 21st CB for the first time, there were dozens of lines that stood out immediately, same with American Idiot and also their older albums. That's what I miss.
