We totally need a GDC fight club. Your battles have filled up half of this thread. And the winner of the fight club could get GDA merch. That'd be so cool

The first rule of GDC fight club? You do not talk about GDC FIght Club.

Off topic, I know. Moving on....

NONE OF YOU KNOW. Quit guessing and speculating. We have heard 3 songs. 2 studio songs. WAIT UNTIL ALL 3 ALBUMS ARE OUT!

We can speculate and guess all we want. It's a free thread. No mods are telling us to stop. Quit getting your panties in a wad.

I think you summed it all up best with the facts that you're 16 and doing all of this from your dad's iPad. I guess not much more should be expected from an internet forum...you always get the trolls who hide behind anonymity because they know that they can't handle shit in real life. Believe me, I have friends who are the same way. I've never been anonymous on a forum...my info is readily available for anybody who cares to find it. Pussies who can't take the shit they dish out stay anonymous.

Oh my God are you fucking kidding me? Ugh, tell me exactly how I'm a troll. EXACTLY. Because I don't stir shit up. People like you do.

You respond to my posts in a more threatening and demeaning manner because my opinion differs from you, I defend my opinion. Or I defend the right to express my opinion. And only a pussy that's 10 years older than me would ask for my personal information. Well either that or a pedophile.

I'm not telling him to give out all his personal info. For example, my Facebook page is linked to from my profile page. If anybody wanted to add me and tell me that they found me on GDC...sweet. My profile is private unless I add you. But somebody who blatently says that the fun of shit talking on internet forums is that you can stay anonymous has one sole purpose...to be a troll. I just hate how it's always some young teen or 45 year old that still lives at home that's doing it. That's what I have very little patience for. I'm more than capable of being critical of Green Day and their music, it's just that I can't find a reason to with what I've heard so far. For somebody to say that "they are being lazy" because the chorus is repetitive and say it as if it's fact is bullshit. Maybe Billie just wanted to go back to writing simple, catchy songs because that's what they felt like doing. As somebody else pointed out, it would take Billie about one minute to beef up the lyrics in these choruses...if he wanted to. The fact that he chose not to does not make it lazy...it makes it a conscious decision. I take pride in my ability to be well-spoken, intelligent, and have civil discussion when it's deserved. That being said, bring on my merch!! Ha!

Well, considering I'm 16 and a teen, not many people outside of the Internet REALLY take a teenagers opinion to heart do they?

So of I had how old I was, and was expressing my opinion, then what would people say? "Oh you're 16, you have no idea what you're talking about." Yeah, exactly. And I take pride about articulating exactly what I'm saying and backing up my opinion instead of throwing stuff completely left field. Plus I don't take this shit so seriously and call other people pussies and talk to them in s subliminally threatening manner, because I like to be a little more funny and less serious. Hell, because of that comment you made you seem less mature than me. I like being funny, and I'll talk shit, but I'll never try to hurt another persons feelings, that's why I say things in a sarcastic manner, so they don't necessarily take it seriously. But evidently people on here do because a lot of you don't seem to have a sense of humor, which is ironic considering this a GD thread.

Dude, in no way am I asking for your personal info. All I said is that you made a comment about how internet forums are a place for people to voice their opinions anonymously. I personally don't give a shit who you are, how old you are, where you're from, etc. All I'm saying is that you've had one opinion in every post that you make, and every post that you make is done so in a way that stirs up hatred/hard feelings/passion/etc. You even said yourself that you make the posts that you in order to get a reaction from people...that is trolling.

I never said I make posts to get a reaction from people. If I did then post that right now, because I never did.

C'mon man, as an avid internet forum poster you should know that sarcasm is hard to convey or interpret online. I think that even the two of us can agree on that front :-)

I never said I make posts to get a reaction from people. If I did then post that right now, because I never did.

Really...you're gonna make me go back through 12 pages? Alright...I will get to this part when I'm not busy at work.

I will ask you a question that's on topic for this forum though...because I think the two of us are probably walking a thin line before the "keep it on topic" warning comes from one of the mods...probably Matt...he likes to do stuff like that. Lol. But anyways, what's your opinion of the lyrical rhythm in the verses of Troublemaker? I personally think that the verse lyrics are awesome...obscure, but awesome. However, it's Billie's rhythm that I really think makes the song likable for me.

I think both of you have good points. Hard for me to take a side on this argument.

The song is alright. The lyrics are decent, nothing amazing, I've seen better word play. The chorus is as original as most of Kurt Cobain's choruses (Since most of his songs repeated numerously), and the melody isn't really that original either, even in context of Green Day's discography. The melody is seems heavily influenced (AKA nicked off) from both Prosthetic head's verses and Horseshoe's and Handgrenades. The main riff of the verses is also influenced (AKA nicked off once again) from the riff in All The Time when Billie sings "I'm having the time of my life/Watching the clock tick". I like the overall atmosphere of the song, the claps, and the whoos at the end, but the points I expressed above do greatly ruin my enjoyment of the song.

Yeah...my user name has a lot of personal meaning though...so I like it. Also, if you notice, I have almost as many "Likes" as I do posts. That means that the majority of my posts are well thought out and expressed. And think of how much better that ratio would be if I wasn't arguing with this kid!!

I guess I really don't understand you people that complain about stuff like that though. As a classically trained musician that has been involved with music for longer than you've been alive, when somebody says that something sounds "exactly" like something else, I can always find flaw in that. Exact means that every aspect is the same. Every note, every rhythm, etc. None of the "this sounds EXACTLY like this" examples that any of you have mentioned about the songs on Uno are actually true. Can I hear similarities? Yes. But I also love that about Green Day. They can take a similar melody to something that they've done in the past and make it sound like a completely different song. American Eulogy sounds NOTHING like Deadbeat Holiday as far as the feeling of the song is concerned, but those verses are ALMOST exactly the same. So shit like that actually enhances my feeling and opinion about a song.

Why do I get a annoyed by it? Because they said themselves there wouldn't be a single weak track on any of the albums. Why have 37 songs if a lot of them are going to be reusing stuff you already did. Parts of melodies that the band have already did. I listen to a song like Troublemaker and I start thinking about other songs it sounds like, and that takes me out of the experience, because it's soo similar. And by the way you're the one that started arguing with me. You starting saying the seriously insulting stuff. And I'm not arguing with you because you've been asking me questions and asking me to give my opinion. You can't blame anyone but yourself.

Who's yelling? And who says that's yelling? It could be whispering loudly.

A certain opening line to "Let Yourself Go" comes to mind in response to the latter half of this thread.

Oooh whoa that was soooo clever and witty! Can I be clever and witty too? Ok here goes!

And by the time the line Let Yourself Go is repeated for the 12th time, people just don't care anymore.

It takes a while for me to notice any similarities in songs, but American Eulogy stood out. The fact that the verses are like Deadbeat Holiday only makes it better

From what I've heard, I don't think that there is a weak track. I also don't hear similiarities until they are pointed out by others...because I don't listen to music that way. I just listen to enjoy. I was at the Echoplex show in LA a few weeks ago and got to hear a lot of the new stuff...I liked it all better then any of the older material they played with the exception of St. Jimmy...which I just have a personal love for because it's fucking awesome and it was my favorite song that my last band covered. I completely understand that there are varying opinions and everything else, but you don't state that a lot of stuff is your opinion. Maybe you just assume that because you are posting on this forum that it's understood that whatever you type is your opinion. I can understand that logic. I just always try to make it a point to say things like, "in my opinion," or "I believe that." It's just how I've been taught to write. So when you just start trashing the band for saying that they said there wouldn't be any weak songs and then just leave it at that, it comes across as being arrogant. I personally haven't heard anything so far that I would consider to be a weak song. I've been very vocal about the fact that I would put everything I've heard so far close to the top of the list in terms of what they've written over their career. So I'm in total agreement with their statement that there wouldn't be a weak song out of the 37...because I haven't heard one that I would consider weak yet.

..it's not an opinion that a lot of this stuff sounds similar. It's a fact. The only way you can't notice it is if you refuse to.

Why is this thread mainly just one person arguing with a few other people about random stuff about the trilogy (not just Troublemaker)? It's annoying.

I want to be reading opinions from a variety of people, but instead it's just a debate between a few members. Can't we just cool our jets and talk about just Troublemaker??

Who likes the song? Why?

Who doesn't like the song? Why not?

Gotta say this sounds like it'll be among my least favourite Green Day tracks. I don't like the sample at all. It just sounds like Green Day on auto-pilot to me.

I admitted that there are similarities with stuff they have done in the past. All I said is that, in my opinion, that doesn't automatically make something a weak track. I think that in a lot of situations it can make it even stronger in my mind because it shows off their ability to adapt something and give it a completely different vibe than had before. I was referring primarily to your previous (multiple) statements about how "they said there wouldn't be a weak track and a lot the songs are similar to stuff they've done in the past." And then you just leave it at that as if that automatically means that all those tracks are weak. I just don't see that as being the case. Hey, what do you think about starting our own thread where we can just go back and forth about shit like this so that it doesn't take up the time of the people that really don't give a shit about what either of us have to say? HA

Yeah...my bad. I saw that a lot of people were getting annoyed with him so I decided to take measures into my own hands. Lol

...There weren't that many people that were annoyed with me. If you actually paid attention you'd see there were numerous people who agreed with me. But fine, I won't speak my mind anymore and defend my opinion because evidently that's looked down upon in this establishment. Oh the irony. And I'm not arguing with anyone, because I don't really care that much about this discussion.
