Comic Sans Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 But they won't be on the album. So why not just go this route? I think it's better if they are on the album(s)
Iminyourcoffeemaker Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 So, what you're saying is that in order to be a "true" Green Day fan, you have to at least like everything they put out? I don't really like Insominac or 1039, because to me >[personally]< a lot of the songs sound the same and are just forgettable. And I'm tired of people saying "You can't judge songs off a shitty recording.". Uh, you can clearly get the gist of the songs Sweet 16 and Last Gang In Town (possibly known as Rusty James now) from the recording. It isn't inaudible, you can even make out some of the lyrics on each song. Hold our tongues? What are you He-Man? You aren't a Master of the Universe. Your opinion about our opinions isn't anything mighty. Oh and by the way, you know what a synonym for a rant is? A bitch fit. This ain't nothing but a G-thang. You are missing my point completely. I am not saying you need to like every Green Day song to be a true fan. My point is that true fans trust the band and have faith in what they will put out. They aren't going to judge off of 3 songs and jump off the bandwagon. We have heard 2 studio songs and 1 live track and everyone is generalizing about all 3 albums. NONE OF US KNOW. And shut your mouth, you're talking to much, and I don't give a fuck anyway.
ghesboro Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 You aim the green birds a certain way and then click because when you click they curve. Thanks! Yesss I did it! Ok, now I'm through with this game, I hate it.
uhleckseee Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Whoa. Negativity, man. Not cool. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of this new track. I think I'd like it better if it weren't for the repetitious chorus, but the rest of it sounds okay. It's just a snippet, so we'll see when the album comes out.
Iminyourcoffeemaker Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I agree with this. I'd rather have 14 tracks of pure unadulterated mind-blowing awesomeness than a big pile of songs that are just ok. Just sayin'. Troublemaker will be a "skipper" for me I think..... It's kinda forgettable.... I'm slightly disappointed to be honest. When I heard Let yourself Go for the first time, I thought this album was gonna kick ass, become my new favorite etc. But after hearing both Kill the DJ and this one, I'm a bit scared GD is going into a direction I'm not gonna like too much Luckily, there's like 33 more songs to hear. And maybe Troublemaker will grow on me and eventually become my favorite song I still have hope. Then. Why. Have. 37. Songs. If. A. Lot. Aren't. Even. That. Special? NONE OF YOU KNOW. Quit guessing and speculating. We have heard 3 songs. 2 studio songs. WAIT UNTIL ALL 3 ALBUMS ARE OUT!
joeysturkeyhead Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Hope GD weren't being narcissistic douches when they said things like this. Tre: "This is fucking genius!" Mike: "This is going to blow their minds." Billie Joe: "We're dealing with a new sound." It's like they don't really criticize their own music like they should. No band should be like "Hey I wrote a song 5 minutes ago!" "Great, let's slap it on the album!" "You don't even want to hear it first?" "Nah, fans will like anything that has our name attached to it!" "Oh yeah! Dumbasses!" "Hahahahahaha!" "Hehehehehe!" "Hohohohohoho!" "Shut up Jason! Fuck! You always ruin everything!" Well they like what they do and write music for themselves. That's why they don't critisize it. They let out the songs cause they're happy with it. They may critisize it before they let them out, but when they do they don't;) That's why I like them, cause they have the guts to say that they are the best band in the world and be proud of it:)
WhiteTim Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 NONE OF YOU KNOW. Quit guessing and speculating. We have heard 3 songs. 2 studio songs. WAIT UNTIL ALL 3 ALBUMS ARE OUT! I predict All 3 comes out people will be all "greatest thing ever" than when it time for next album it'll be "hope it aint like uno dos tre disaster again" i.e. 21st Century
jayjaded Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Thats pure nimrod!!! I really like it If it sounds like Nimrod, its because its almost the exact note pattern for Prostethic Head...a far better song
Kaddi. Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Did any of the songs we've heard so far have a non-repetitive chorus? Just sayin'.
Sixtrix Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Did any of the songs we've heard so far have a non-repetitive chorus? Just sayin'. Probably not, probably not, probably not, probably not, probably not, probably not (x12) Oh wait, oh love did not have a repetitive chorus, and fuck time I think.
Kaddi. Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Probably not, probably not, probably not, probably not, probably not, probably not (x12) Oh wait, oh love did not have a repetitive chorus, and fuck time I think. Okay, so we have one song with a real chorus... And It's Fuck Time isn't that new.
Sixtrix Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I personally don't really mind the "repetitiveness" in most of the new songs. It is probably a matter of taste or preference, because we are used of Billie writing meaningful choruses whereas the new songs tend to repeat one sentence over and over again. But to me that's basically what a hook is about. Easy to remember and catchy singslong tunes like those catchy "wooooaahh" choir fill ups on the background or sometimes on the foreground that people like to singalong to. A great hook is able to grab your attention right away and sticks in your head after a first listen. But I agree that a great hook does not have to be the same words or one sentence being repeated many times. But what saves it for me are the very catchy melodies. Well, to me they are catchy and bring a huge smile on my face. But even the greatest hooks are not able to please everyone and not all listeners are waiting for a "repetitive" chorus or parts in a song. I am expecting a bit more than this on Tre! though, since some of the songs - that were described in different interviews as quite powerful songs - aught to have more to offer than just the title repeating over and over (roller coaster) But then again, I am probably a tough one to be disappointed as I always look for great aspects in songs. And to me Green Day always delivers on that part. But again, tastes differ a lot. As a conclusion, I think it's a great (risky) approach in songwriting.
Anja Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Oh love does have kind of repetitive verses though
Todd Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Did any of the songs we've heard so far have a non-repetitive chorus? Just sayin'. Nuclear Family, Stray Heart, Carpe Diem, Fell For You, Sweet 16, Rusty James, Fuck Time,Wild One, Makeout Party, Drama Queen,Wow! that's Loud, Amy, 8th Ave Serenade, Stray Heart,Amanda
Kaddi. Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Nuclear Family, Stray Heart, Carpe Diem, Fell For You, Sweet 16, Rusty James, Fuck Time,Wild One, Makeout Party, Drama Queen,Wow! that's Loud, Amy, 8th Ave Serenade, Stray Heart,Amanda Haven't listened to all of them, but Fuck Time and Drama Queen aren't really new, they've been written years ago. I hope some of the ones you named will be better than the ones I've heard so far. At least there's some hope left now.

Those areones that most people seem to like
Kaddi. Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 If you havent, listen to wild one, wow! Thats loud, 8th ave serenade and amanda. Those areones that most people seem to like I think I've once listened to Amanda a while okay, I don't remember if I liked it though. 8th Ave Serenade reminds me so much of Letterbomb, haha. Which is good, because I love Letterbomb, but it's hard to tell whether you really like a song if you can only hear it in crappy quality, that's also why I have only listened to only a few songs.
Idiotic Tendency... Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 It's probably already been said, but there's one guitar part in the song that sounds a lot like Prosthetic Head, to me anyways. Yeah. For me it's a mix between PH and H&H. Especially the backup vocals in the verse
Ryan Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Nah, not really considering I said if you don't like what I've said thus far, then don't read them. I just don't like being serious, because it's boring, plus this is an Internet forum. One of the pluses is the animosity of it all. Oh the irony! Put down the smart ass in a GREEN DAY dedicated forum, none the less in a section dedicated to a song called Troublemaker. I think this was meant to be. Which, to be honest I don't really care what you think about. You say I want attention. So how do you prove that point exactly? By giving me attention? Oh wow, I'm so popular. I think you summed it all up best with the facts that you're 16 and doing all of this from your dad's iPad. I guess not much more should be expected from an internet forum...you always get the trolls who hide behind anonymity because they know that they can't handle shit in real life. Believe me, I have friends who are the same way. I've never been anonymous on a forum...my info is readily available for anybody who cares to find it. Pussies who can't take the shit they dish out stay anonymous.

Your battles have filled up half of this thread. And the winner of the fight club could get GDA merch. That'd be so cool
Ryan Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 So you're urging a sixteen year old to dish out personal information on the internet? We totally need a GDC fight club. Your battles have filled up half of this thread. And the winner of the fight club could get GDA merch. That'd be so cool I'm not telling him to give out all his personal info. For example, my Facebook page is linked to from my profile page. If anybody wanted to add me and tell me that they found me on GDC...sweet. My profile is private unless I add you. But somebody who blatently says that the fun of shit talking on internet forums is that you can stay anonymous has one sole purpose...to be a troll. I just hate how it's always some young teen or 45 year old that still lives at home that's doing it. That's what I have very little patience for. I'm more than capable of being critical of Green Day and their music, it's just that I can't find a reason to with what I've heard so far. For somebody to say that "they are being lazy" because the chorus is repetitive and say it as if it's fact is bullshit. Maybe Billie just wanted to go back to writing simple, catchy songs because that's what they felt like doing. As somebody else pointed out, it would take Billie about one minute to beef up the lyrics in these choruses...if he wanted to. The fact that he chose not to does not make it lazy...it makes it a conscious decision. I take pride in my ability to be well-spoken, intelligent, and have civil discussion when it's deserved. That being said, bring on my merch!! Ha!
Brandon R. Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 It's hard for me to really make a judgement based on only a minute and a half of this song.
Ryan Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 It's hard for me to really make a judgement based on only a minute and a half of this song. I wanna hear what that damn solo does!! I LOVE the rhythm of the vocals in the verses though.
