Sixtrix Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I can't get through the 3rd level in the game.. Do you have to throw the birds with some sort of effect or something? I just listened to the sample of Troublemaker again, but I still love it. But I can see why some might dislike it I guess.
-Billiejoezee- Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Oh Josie, why are you such a bitch? This song is quite groovy.
Kitty Purry Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 just listened to the preview and I really like it! I don't think these 3 albums are gonna be masterpieces but does it really have to be? I'm not picky when it comes to music if it sounds good to me then I'm happy!+ Am I the only one that can never hear similarities in gd songs unless ppl point them out? and they're always a mashup of like 3 songs like seriously it's so fucking annoying
Iminyourcoffeemaker Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 CAN WE ALL SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT OUR REVIEWS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 25TH? I'm sorry, but people are just jumping at the bit too much. We have had ONE U.S single. ONE. And ONE U.K Single. And a live recording. That is all you have heard ALL the way through. Sure, you have all the shitty bootlegs, and the part of 99 Revolutions and now this. We still haven't heard the album though. Hold your tongues and wait until you have the album in your hands, with the music blasting in your head phones from track 1 to track 12. THEN and ONLY then, will I listen to anyones opinion about the band. Anyone who is a real Green Day fan knows that they are very unpredictable, fun, and even if we don't know what to think of it at first or are a little weary of it, we end up loving it or at least liking it. I honestly love everything they have put out. As long as it is not 21 Guns or Know Your Enemy, I will dig it. But I will not judge this band or album until I hear ALL of it. Simply put: Quit your bitching until September 25th. -My rant of the day.
Sixtrix Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Simply put: Quit your bitching until September 25th. This one line has a very groovy thing going on. Kind of reminded me of the slogan "vote or die" but then less absurd and more catchy

I don't really like Insominac or 1039, because to me >[personally]< a lot of the songs sound the same and are just forgettable. And I'm tired of people saying "You can't judge songs off a shitty recording.". Uh, you can clearly get the gist of the songs Sweet 16 and Last Gang In Town (possibly known as Rusty James now) from the recording. It isn't inaudible, you can even make out some of the lyrics on each song. Hold our tongues? What are you He-Man? You aren't a Master of the Universe. Your opinion about our opinions isn't anything mighty. Oh and by the way, you know what a synonym for a rant is? A bitch fit. This ain't nothing but a G-thang.

First of all, I've really been digging your opinions expressed in this thread as a lot of them are very similar if not the same to mine. Do you have any positive thoughts on the songs you've heard so far? Because you really don't seem to enjoy what you're hearing so far, but I'm not even sure because whenever you describe your opinion to a song you don't describe it in a general sense but go into detail about its flaws... I'm really curious. I'm not a fan of the repetitive choruses and quite a few songs sound pretty rushed. What I do like about the songs so far is they are more interesting stylistically compared to 21st Century Breakdown, at least to me. I really like Stray Heart, Let Yourself Go and Kill The Dj but not as much. It's the other songs that have me worried though. Also, I have no idea if this even means anything, but whenever I see new live videos coming out, Tre looks almost mad... It's weird. He never really talks in interviews or anything as far as I'm aware as well. To be honest the main problems I see with these albums right now is Billie's songwriting and Tre's drum parts both seem pretty lazy and uninspired. I have to say though, I'm ecstatic over being able to hear Mike's bass, and his more interesting basslines in general, and Billie's vocal delivery is top notch. His sneer in "Let Yourself Go" is very reminiscent of 90's Green Day.

I don't think everyone has to like every album they bring out. Though as a Green Day fan you don't really show a lot if respect towards the band, which makes you seem to come over more as an anti-Green Day person. Maybe it's the kind of humor you try to put into your posts, which at times can be quite funny. But you talk with so much negativity that I don't find it very weird that a lot if members can react a bit harsh on your messages. Besides that, you are pretty much clinging onto your opinion, shooting down everyone else's opinion because what you say is the truth in your own mind. There are a lot of people doing the same thing, no doubt about it. But you claimed yourself a few posts ago that you got your freedom of speech, and so do we all. And no, none of us are he-man, ninja turtles or super man. I used to be Spider man but it started to hurt my back quite bad, so I had to hand over the suit to a different Peter Parker. I applied for a vacancy for being spider woman, but apparently you need to be female for that. Anyway.... I forgot what point I was trying to make.. Oh well

I'm talking about the !UNO! songs by the way. I feel like I have to almost lower my Green Day standards for a couple songs, and having songs that sound similar just irks the living shit out me because it's just so lazy. It isn't a " kind of sounds like it" sort if thing, it's more of a "sounds EXACTLY the same" sort of thing. Most of the stuff they're reusing comes from the songs off of Nimrod. It really gets to me considering Rob said there isn't a single weak track on any of these albums. That sounds like such an hyperbolic statement, and the way the band are just reusing things it's like they aren't good at judging their own songs. They MUST know about the similarities, but they just don't seem to care. First performance of Troublemaker: Billie: "Good stuff man!" Tre: "Hell yeah! That was awesome!" Mike: "...." Jason: "Uh guys, don't you think the riff and melody sounds a little too similar to Horseshoes & Handgrenades and All The Time?" Billie: "....What did you just say?" Mike: "...." Tre: "Shut up Jason! And you wonder why we don't make you an official member!"

Oh well I'm not shooting down other people's opinions. Do you seem me responding to comments like "This song is awesome" and saying "You have no idea what you're talking about. You're an idiot and a test tube baby."? Yes, you have your freedom of speech, and I have mine, and I have the right to defend my opinion and respond to over the top comments that attack my opinions and the ability to openly express my opinions. And I'm not anti-Green Day, I've said numerous, NUMEROUS times why I post the way I do. And I'll say it again. Slowly. Even though I'm typing and not really talking. I...say...what...other...people...aren't...really...saying...so...that...the...scales...will...be...balanced...on...both...sides... I'd do syllables but that would take too long. I do the dirty work, so you don't have to. Here's my theme song:

It's super frustrating not being able to hear the whole song....just a month or so left...
ChelseaDagger Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Then. Why. Have. 37. Songs. If. A. Lot. Aren't. Even. That. Special? I agree with this. I'd rather have 14 tracks of pure unadulterated mind-blowing awesomeness than a big pile of songs that are just ok. Just sayin'. Troublemaker will be a "skipper" for me I think..... It's kinda forgettable....

It's super frustrating not being able to hear the whole song....just a month or so left... The scales should be some what balanced because: A) New people who want to join this site will see that a wide range of opinions are accepted. B) This won't be a Justin Bieber like fan site full of just comments like "OMG Billie is sooo hawt!" "Green Day are the best band ever!" "When I heard that song I cried." C) This a forum, which the point of a forum is discussions. This isn't a comment section.

It pisses me off even more when it keeps me from liking a song, like I can't even listen to Carpe Diem because it is sooo similar to Suffocate. Being a serious musician, this indeed comes off as lazy to me and kind of embarassing. I kinda got a bad feeling about this sort of thing when they said they were at their most prolific musical point in their lives, as they said that when they were promoting 21CB as well.
No Rhyme Or Reason Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 3 things. 1) Reading a zillion comments from the same few people gets a little annoying.... I don't mind if the opinion is positive or negative or somewhere in between - we all have different perceptions of what makes a song good or enjoyable, so of course there will be a variety of comments in here. But can people just make their point the one time and stop spamming the thread?? Seriously. We heard you the first 20 times, no need to keep hammering out the same ideas and shoving your opinion down our throats. Especially when it comes off as bit disrespectful. Say what you have to say, move on, done. 2) Troublemaker. Not my favorite song from the trilogy so far - that's a tie between Oh Love and Kill The DJ until further notice - but I do really like it. The verses have a different vibe to them, and it kind of reminds me of the Network. The way the lines flow into each other is similar to Right-Hand-A-Rama, and I love that! Troublemaker also has an earlier Green Day sound, with Billie's bratty vocal delivery. That sneer. It's not something I haven't heard from him in a long time, and in a way it's nice to hear it return, even if only for 1 or 2 songs. It reminds me that they're still the same guys they were 20 years ago - they can still make that kind of music and think like they did then. But at the same time, they have grown up, and are capable of writing epic masterpieces too. I think that Uno will be the most like their earlier work (and represent a mentality closest to that), and that may be why these songs seem so simple to many people here. But remember, Dos and Tré will more than likely confirm that Billie hasn't lost his songwriting ability, and they can still craft songs of the grandiosity and profundity of their last 2 records. No need to worry about that just yet people! Back to Troublemaker, I just really enjoyed the song. It's not mind-blowing, but it's certainly fun and lustful, and I love that. The lyrics are awesome, in a funny, not-too-deep, but still fantastic kind of way. I'm sure I'll really enjoy the song once I hear the whole thing. 3) About the repetitiveness of songs.... WHY is everyone so worked up about the repetitiveness of Troublemaker (and a few other songs)?? If I recall correctly, basically everyone here (except me) LOVED Let Yourself Go. That is hands down the most repetitive song we've heard so far. None of the others are even competition. So if people weren't bothered by the redundancy of that song, why it it such a big deal for these other (less repetitive!!) songs? I suppose it could be because most of the songs we've heard now have had simple, repetitive choruses.... but still, it's not like they're that bad or that redundant. And I doubt all the songs will end up being like that, so I don't see any need to get all excited and worried just yet. Cool your jets. I'm sure by the time we get to Tré the songs (including their choruses) will be all complex and intricate again. So far I've liked all the songs I've heard. I LOVE both Oh Love and Kill The DJ, and Troublemaker is pretty great too. Then there's Let Yourself Go... It's good. I'll hold off on the other songs (like from the secret shows) until later, but I did really enjoy a few of them, so I'm excited to hear how they sound on the albums.
ghesboro Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Ok, now please reply to this: how the heck do you get that fucking golden grenade with those stupid birds/how the heck do you finish that level?
NGDP Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Ok, now please reply to this: how the heck do you get that fucking golden grenade with those stupid birds/how the heck do you finish that level? You aim the green birds a certain way and then click because when you click they curve.
Comic Sans Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I said 3-4 B-sides on EACH single. That's around 15-20 B-sides/outtakes all together. And we should be thankful? Thankful that they could possibly be ripping us off by having us buy 3 albums filled with a lot of forgettable tracks rather than one album filled with amazing tracks? I don't have an iPod, so I'll have to buy each album. Then it will be 38 songs. Wow. What a change.
WrongWayToSalvation Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Then it will be 38 songs. Wow. What a change. But they won't be on the album. So why not just go this route?
