Martyn Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 this preview was secretly found but the song in the game is the full song Absolutely sure? Is there a full version of Oh love in the game? think the one on the main menu is also only 90 seconds...
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Dookie got a 5/5 from RS. And I take critical reception as a way to set my expectations. If it's not getting good reception then yeah I'll be disappointed, because that is a reflection of the album's quality. I'd trust a critic's review over anyone else's opinion on here that's for sure. Because critics will likely be a lot less biased and judge the album as it should be. You're one of my favourite posters on here, well apart from the last page . I have to say people who rise above the common fan opinion are far more interesting to read as an observer. I also think there's a lot of value in gauging the overall critical opinion of an album from something like Metacritic (but not too much), since individual critics are somewhat unreliable. There's no one single review that is infallible except your own ultimately. There are plenty of critics that are as biased as hardcore fans. If Green Day and Animal Collective released the same album there'd still be a huge difference between the scores Pitchfork give them. Although you do temper this later on by saying it helps to form your opinion without actually defining it. So maybe I'm actually in full agreement with you! Anyway it's good that people give reasons why they don't like songs as well as people who do like it. If you consider yourself a fan of the band and therefore invested in the outcome of their future music you deserve to be able to voice your opinion regardless, as long as it's well informed.

mallorymaloney Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I've only listened to it once, but I'm feeling really 'meh' about it so far.... Also why does everyone have the same avatar.

21stCenturyInsomniac Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 The riff sounds exactly like Horseshoes and Handgrenades

sundown Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I am really excited about Rusty James as well This song is so beautiful! It kind of reminds me of Scattered, but in a better way... yea, its a faster scattered with a great fresh solo! it reminds me of past green day!
Dalya Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 yea, its a faster scattered with a great fresh solo! it reminds me of past green day! I am surprised that neither band, nor Rob Covallo did not mention this song how they did with Troublemaker and other songs.
Sanity Loan Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 So I'm guessing the person who posted that the full version was out didn't know what they were talking about?

They're paid to like certain groups/singers and to hate others. Ugh, why am I bothering...
pasalaska Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 It's probably already been said, but there's one guitar part in the song that sounds a lot like Prosthetic Head, to me anyways.
Malleus Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Taking reviews/other people's opinions to heart is always ridiculous and silly. Trusting a critic because they're a critic is so fucking stupid, just like blindly loving everything. Prosthetic Head is such a good song, I'm glad Troublemaker sounds a bit like it. Where were all these Prosthetic Head lovers before this song came out, huh?!
amy_runs Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 The guitar during the chorus sounds exactly like the guitar in Fuck Time. I am extremellyylyllylylylylylly disappointed with this song. I almost hate it.
Ritz Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 The guitar during the chorus sounds exactly like the guitar in Fuck Time. I am extremellyylyllylylylylylly disappointed with this song. I almost hate it. I agree. But im not disappointed .
sauser Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I'm wondering if that's the final mix, it sounds a little flat and raw for me. The song is nice, though.
WrongWayToSalvation Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Are you kidding? You must be kidding. Critics are the most biased people that can review music. They're paid to like certain groups/singers and to hate others. Ugh, why am I bothering... Not if you look up reviews from smaller sites they aren't. And that's not entirely factual, I've seen sites like Rolling Stong Magazine varying review scores throughout a band's discography. I don't take them to heart, like I've said a million times before. They help to me know what to expect, what tracks to look out for, the style of the album, how it compares to the band's past albums musically etc. When did I say "If a critic gives the album a bad review then it must suck, there for I won't buy it." I never once said that. Taking reviews/other people's opinions to heart is always ridiculous and silly. Trusting a critic because they're a critic is so fucking stupid, just like blindly loving everything. Which is why I don't do that. This is what I'm talking about. People generalizing and warping what people are saying. I don't take their opinions to heart, I take them into consideration when I'm about to listen to album, so my expectations won't be through the roof when I hear the album and I wind up being disappointed. Critic reviews are here for a reason, they aren't there to decide whether or not you should buy something or see something unless you're already on the fence about it. Like if you're not sure whether or not you want to see a movie, you look up reviews and since the movie is getting good reviews, that might sway you into seeing it. I'm not on the fence of buying the albums, so I'll buy them no matter what. They just help me to get an idea of the album and what to expect.
