gerardsangel4977 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Apparently they've just played Letterbomb... There are still some confused people on Twitter who are under the impression they're listening to Dookie Bwahahaha, that's just sad
M0rre7 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Cheri Read @CLLRx So green day are refusing to leave the stage. Security are trying to drag them off. They aren't having any of it. Lewis Cleaver @iamlewiscleaver Green day being cut short...SON OF A C**T #readingfest
~ Walking Contradiction Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Cheri Read @CLLRx So green day are refusing to leave the stage. I fucking love these guysNME @NME Green Day at Reading: "Welcome to the worst kept secret in the world. We're going to go fucking crazy!" http://pic.twitter.com/Y3onnOuI

gerardsangel4977 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I usually love when Green Day says "fuckit! we'll play however long we want!" But in this case, they're cutting into someone else's set time. Bit of a dickmove.

M0rre7 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Post War Glamour Girls were due on at stage at 12 and that set list Billie posted was never going to be an hour!
~ Walking Contradiction Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Someone actually just tried to get Billie Joe Armstrong off stage at Reading. The crowd weren't pleased, obvs. Green Day are still going!
Ritz Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I fucking love these guys ! They do whatever they want. Fuck the rest of the world
JaHawk2009 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 They're still going. Girlfriends on the phone to me now and they're playing She, I think?

Bit of a dickmove. I agree. I love bands not giving a fuck about the curfew at festivals when they're the headliner or at their own solo shows, but this isn't fair.
M0rre7 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Looks like they've finished now - 1 hour & 20 min set.
Ritz Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Ah well I wish it was professionally recorded for television viewing
Seanz25 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Lets be realistic though. Anyone booking Green Day shouldn't expect a short set. Its not in there nature. This is the band who regularly play 3hour shows all in one hit.

I have to admit, though, as uncool as it is....If I were actually in the audience, I probably wouldn't be complaining
~ Walking Contradiction Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 "This is definitely the best worst kept secret in all of the UK right now," announced Billie Joe Armstrong to a tent that was already full just 15 minutes into their explosive (but exceedingly early) set. Despite rumours flying - following a radio announcement from the band themselves - that they would perform their 1994 seminal album 'Dookie' in its entirety, their set was instead laden with hits from their entire back catalogue, including the likes of opener 'Welcome to Paradise', 'Longview' and 'Basket Case' "This is not a party. This is not a fucking party," the frontman cried. "This is a celebration! This is Reading 2012 and we're going to give you every fucking thing we have." read more http://www.thisisfakediy.co.uk/articles/news/green-day-the-best-worst-kept-secret-in-all-of-the-uk/
Seanz25 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Just read on twitter those locked out of the tent stormed past security at the end of the show and caught the last few minutes. Awesome.
TheJedi Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Looooooooooool I love you Green Day xD not a "dickmove" as someone said.. the other bands have time.. the only dickmove is to only give Green Day ONE hour to play

This is the band who regularly play 3hour shows all in one hit. By the same token, though, Green Day should've known not to expect to be able to play a long set with an 11 am timeslot. They've played plenty of festivals before; they know the drill. Early-in-the-day groups often get 30-40 min sets at these things. An hour at this time of day is generous. (This is also why playing over, even if it's only by 20 minutes, really sucks. Because you're not just forcing somebody to cut a few songs, you're quite possibly eliminating at least half of their stage time). As for it not being in their nature, the super-long sets didn't really start until the 21st Century Breakdown tour. They were perfectly capable of curbing themselves before.

If they hadn't been okay with that early spot, they wouldn't have played... And if they have one hour to play, then they should only play one hour, no matter if they're one of the biggest bands in the world or not.
