lizziebix Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Kind of looks like he's falling asleep. Nice guitar though!
abattlecry Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 maybe he is beat, but i gotta say thats what i look like when i watch tv. be one with the couch yeah, that's what I was thinking. either that or he's really deep in his creative process.
Alex R. Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Oh ! He cut his hair ! Not sure if he looks sad or he's falling asleep.
Webb_2011 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I'm sure a lot of you feel this way, but whenver I see Billie or Adrienne post a picture on Instagram (of Billie) it just makes me smile. It feels to me (and I'm sure to many of you) like a best friends is going through a tough time and when we get a chance to see a random, recent picture of them it just makes me happy knowing they're doing okay. Just a random thought on the beatiful guitar he is holding. I wonder if this is his signature model of his acoustic but just in a different color? Of course the only reason I say that is because, if I'm not mistaken, his signature acoustic has stars as the fretboard inlays. Of course I could be completely wrong too!
gerardsangel4977 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Yeah he does look a bit down, but as you said it could just be a moment of tiredness. I'm guessing the whole process has taken a lot out of him, not to mention he probably feels guilty about having to cancel shows and appearances, etc. He shouldn't...but we know how committed they all are, especially with how distraught he apparently was after having to cancel that show because of being in the hospital. heh, true, Billie loves performing, so it's like getting your favorite toy taken away Not to make light of a serious situation, but I sometimes think this whole outpatient thing that he's doing must feel like the adult version of being grounded.... Yes, Billie's signature model has the stars in it. Though I remember he said in an interview that his signature model was actually based off of an existing guitar. I think that may be the one in the photo.
Sarcasm Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Because bananas are a known cure for alcoholism and addiction? XD you know it. but has he more tattoos than usual? O.o Probably sleeves to pose for the picture
The Grohl Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I'm guessing it's just a downtime-thing. He usually cleans himself up, straightens his hair and is clean shaven for public appearances. Kind of like the way he bleaches his hair when they are between records/recording. Yeah I noticed that. I actually like it when he doesn't striaghten his hair. He looks so cute with his curls
mbk Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Recovery from addiction is supposed to be a period of extreme de-stressing and calmness, and a break from any demands. I doubt very much if he is working during this -- and to him working is writing songs. I don't think he is writing any songs right now. Lovely picture.

I don't think he considers writing songs working. He loves to play music and he writes to pull the words and music that roam around in his head (constantly). Pretty sure he finds this relaxing.
TheJedi Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Recovery from addiction is supposed to be a period of extreme de-stressing and calmness, and a break from any demands. I doubt very much if he is working during this -- and to him working is writing songs. I don't think he is writing any songs right now. Lovely picture. he writes songs almost all the time. it's not really his "work", like lizziebix said. he writes them when something comes to mind.
mbk Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 This is a very out-of-the-ordinary circumstance because of his recovery. If he was in in-patient rehab he wouldn't even be allowed to bring his guitar. I don't know what he is or isn't doing -- maybe he is writing songs -- just that rehab, whether in- or out-patient, is pretty strict.
LMC Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 He's holding something resembling a C major chord, glad it's not a minor
Femme Gauche Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 At the very least, he is playing, but I'm sure being away from the microphone during this time is rough. He doesn't look bored, or beat, or anything like that to me. Just a moment during the thought process that has you sitting back and thinking. He's holding something resembling a C major chord, glad it's not a minor Haha, but even the upbeat-sounding songs can have dark lyrics .
DannyDirnt Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Regarding if he should or not be writing songs now, I doubt they'd forbide him to play guitar. It's like his job, yes, but it's more like a hobbie. It's something he likes and has passion for. It's like if I work testing videogames because I love videogames and I have to do rehab so they forbide me to play videogames. That would make no sense to me.
Heather. Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I don't speak guitar, but am I looking at a super shiny guitar reflected back at me by the camera, or is it actually painted white?
gerardsangel4977 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I've officially renamed this picture as "Longview Pt 2" in my Green Day folder This is a very out-of-the-ordinary circumstance because of his recovery. If he was in in-patient rehab he wouldn't even be allowed to bring his guitar. I don't know what he is or isn't doing -- maybe he is writing songs -- just that rehab, whether in- or out-patient, is pretty strict. But he's not in in-patient rehab, so that's kind of irrelevant. You may as well have said "If he was in in-patient rehab, he wouldn't be allowed to use instagram". It would've been true, and we all would've said "No shit." But it doesn't change the fact that he's been doing it. At least music has proven therapeutic qualities.
farley drexel hatcher Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I don't think anything can keep him away from his guitar, even if he's not writing anything I doubt you could stop him playing it. It's been a massive part of his life for over thirty years.
