Guest Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I laughed, many times. I can't take it seriously. I'll be skipping this track.
WrongWayToSalvation Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 It sounds like Billie the whole time to me :/ Not sure though EVERYONE ASKING FOR LYRICS: We all want them, we don't have them. People (myself included) have tried to figure stuff out in the Lyrics thread. There was also a lack of Mike's voice on Oh Love. It sounds like Billie's vocals are being double tracked, instead of there being backing vocals.

jess_ja Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Am I the only one who wishes the song was a few bpm's faster?
WrongWayToSalvation Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 it seems that it will be first UK-only for this week and then the rest of the world can download it at 21st Aug but still confusing Just think of it like The Avengers.
Nzap Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 This is Fucking Greatness in the best way. Man oh man is it good, and I can't even imagine in my head that the real version will be better. Man oh man oh man. This took two listens for me to become really really good. I mean this is, just....... no words, no words
cabot_girl Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I really like the song a whole lot better than Oh love, but for some reason I miss the "raw" feeling... I think their songs sounds better live than the studioversions. I was hoping they would be able to catch the "live" sound in their recordings.. also I'm not so fond of Billies high tones.. Anyways, can't wait to hear the uncensored version.
ltrbmb17 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 This is what I've got: Thank you, Matt! Gone to sing
Sarcasm Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I do love it, even though I wish it was a tiny bit faster. I also think that the drums Tre used when they recorded songs like Hold On and Blood, Sex and Booze would sound great. Rounder and more bass-ie sound.
Hermione Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 This is what I've got: On with Christian soldiers Thanks for that! I'd say that line is "Onward Christian soldiers", it's a line from a hymn that's kind of a Christian slogan.
.Brian Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Walking after dark In the New York City park _______ left in the club Pocket full of pills ______________ In the century of thrills I think it's "Sodom and Gommorah in the century of thrills". Not sure about that though.

Hermione Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Need to dig into the lyrics more to really get what Billie is, um, shooting at here...but at first listen this one oughta satisfy some people who were craving deeper meaning in the new, simple songs. This is an innovative way of exploring (again) the "make it all fucking STOP" theme that Billie has touched on before, and the lyrics I've been able to make out so far are up there with the best of Billie's songwriting. There's also a thread of isolation inside a bubble while the whole world is exploding around you in there, that's apparent right from the beginning: "Walking after dark, in the New York City park"....all alone, observing all of the insanity that is life in the Big Apple, and just wanting to choke whoever the hell is responsible for creating it. It's BOBD-class loneliness and "I don't belong-ness" that Billie seems to be approaching from a different angle....Warning-esque poppy, punky melancholy that only Green Day is capable of pulling off. I *love* that they're setting a 70's disco rhythm -- the mainstream house music of that era -- as the backdrop for the repeating "someone kill the deejay" chorus. The rhythm, the solos all come together in a mix that's as punchy and clean as Oh Love was. I agree that the radio-censored version loses some of the emotional punch from the live versions we've heard -- in this case, the use (or some would argue over-use) of the F-bomb is really necessary to hammer the point home. So after first listen, BIG thumbs-up. So glad you're here to provide us with such brilliant song interpretations! Great post.
Sanity Loan Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I think it's "Sodom and Gommorah in the century of thrills". Not sure about that though. Yes
spark in the night Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 This is what I've got: Walking after dark In the New York City park Your thoughts are so unholy In the holiest of holes On with Christian soldiers Filled with jivin' mind control I bolded what I think that line might be
Sanity Loan Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I bolded what I think that line might be I'm not hearing an "s" on the end of the line so I don't think it's "holes"
Cameron. Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 The temptation to not listen to this is becoming harder every second. Ugh
petros Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 And before the solo I'm pretty sure Billie whispers "Someone's gonna get you boy"
Nzap Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I understand you people for listening to the live versions of songs as we all have been eagerly anticipating for new material, but man it sounds amazing when you have to wait to hear the studio version of a song despite knowing there's a live version out there. This is just absolutely amazing. Oh Love was meh at first, and it turned out to be good, if not great. (not listened to LYG yet, and won't until album is out) This was good, and turned to amazing after the 2nd listen. This song has something so great in it that I can't explain. Maybe the bass, maybe the "choppy" (in a fucking good way) rhythm. I don't know. I just know that I fucking love this!
petros Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 The temptation to not listen to this is becoming harder every second. Ugh Why shouldn't you listen to it now? It's an official release after all
