Reading a couple posts in this thread. I never knew there were such hateful, unpleasable people in this forum. The music video is boring and whatever, but people, don't forget....we're getting THREE ALBUMS. That is AMAZING, and you shoulden't let something like a video piss you off.

I agree with this too. They're showing a "rock and roll scene" to represent the lyrics and feel of the song. NOT to represent the band. All the people in the video (the women and the band) are playing fictional rock and roll type characters to illustrate the song.

I guess I could see them as exaggerated versions of themselves, but to me the whole tone of the video seemed so casual that I didn't get the feeling of them playing characters at all.

We're just stating our opinion about how the video sucked. How is that hateful?

Yes, I accept that you didn't like it. What I meant was people just need to accept that they're trying new things.

From what I see people are all for them trying new things. They just thought this video sucked. Not because it was different but because it was dull as fuck! :P

Jesus christ, It's fucking stupid to try to pick apart and analyze this music video. Shitty it may be, but it's pretty straight forward.

Has the video and interview been posted in this thread? If so may someone kindly point me to where? :)

The fact that they're releasing three albums is awesome. But we're discussing Oh Love video in the thread.

I'm not saying the video is. But saying that "the rock n' roll lifestyle is supposed to be about girls in your dressing room dressed with nothing for your amusement" is, in my opinion.

Ah I see. I take my statement back. I didn't see that original comment.

I think the fact that we've had two monstrous concept albums before this one has people's expectations flying through the roof. If you step back from that and take a more relaxed approach, the video might not seem so awful. Sure it's not the greatest music video Green Day has ever had, but compared to some of the shit that's out there, you really can't complain. It gets the point of the song across, and if it doesn't blow your mind, it's not the end of the world.

I am not engaging with anyone's arguments because we all have different opinons about this video and that's fine everyone is allowed their own opinion :)

Personally I liked it and I understand why people don't .... It's good to see people's reaction to this

IT'S NOT ABOUT BEING CONTROVERSIAL DAMMIT. If you want to be controversial, take a shit on the bible for all I care! Just don't use objectifying as a means of oppression. Oppression is not the rock n' roll lifestyle. It's something that should be eliminated.

Their was no oppression what so ever in this video! The women are acting, they are in a scene depicted as a rock n roll party with booze, Rock N Roll and women. Scenes like this happen in real life and im sure people enjoy it, i know i would, a Rock N Roll is a life style i would love, so if you don't agree then fine.

I've actually felt really great about all the new songs and everything so far, but I was disappointed in the video. Those of us who have been discussing why we didn't like it aren't being hateful, we're trying to talk about what we disliked about it. this thread is for discussion, and it's not like I'm going to stop listening to Green Day because of one video.

I'm happy I'm not the only one who did't like those girls on the video.

But I couldn't watch it yet. You know, slow internet crashes live stream, videos blocked by region and more of that shit. Story of my life :tired:

wow. this site really has a problem with people disliking stuff.

You're allowed to have your own opinion jesus christ. stop trying to defend the video to people who don't like it.

It hasn't. The video is posted on GDA. The interview isn't up anywhere yet.

Jesus christ, It's fucking stupid to try to pick apart and analyze this music video. Shitty it may be, but it's pretty straight forward.

I think that's the point of why people are annoyed. It's so simple that it does absolutely nothing as a video. As i said early on, it's a pointless video. The girls are there for no reason whatsoever.

There was nothing fun, exciting or dangerous about that video...

Sexy? Yes, the band did look sexy. And guys probably think the girls look sexy, too. But unfortunately, that's not all it takes to make a good video.

The video its self may not have been dangerous or exiting, but it depicts a rock n roll scene, which can be depicted as Fun, Exiting and dangerous, that's what rock n roll is in part

Again, going back to the Holiday video, THAT was exaggerated. This wasn't. I liked what Bayer did with that video.

Okay, I didn't see the preview for this on MTV, but on the subject of scantily clad women/sexual content in Green Day videos, am I seriously the only one who remembers The Network's vids?

May I present Exhibit A:

And Exhibit B:

I'd put the "Teenagers From Mars" vid as Exhibit C but I can't find it on youtube. :P

I would argue Mother Mary had a scantily clad woman

Agreed. This video is the first thing that's made me slightly nervous about their new stuff. And just slightly. The songs have all been great so far and no matter what I'm not going to stop being a super-fan.

Throughout the whole video I was like, ''maybe it'll get better..now'' ''or, now'' ''what about now''

It didn't happen. :P Except for the split second of spaghetti action.

Ah, now that video was exciting and dangerous! :D

I remember watching it over and over again on VH1's top video countdown when I was in junior high and first became a fan... good times. ~nostalgia~
