dumb shiny bitch Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I also love when Billie said "Haushinka!" He sounded so excited and it made me cry internally What a page own
Trina Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Why is it that the first single for the last two albums has had a video that's pretty much just the band playing the song and looking attractive? Is this some kind of curse? Ugh, I'd rather that than some awful, awful storyline with actors music video; aka JOS & WMUWSE. Actually, WMUWSE would have been so beautiful had it just been the band parts. :/
WrongWayToSalvation Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Hope the I interview will posted soon. I'm on an iPad:(
Four. Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 That's clearly not the only point of them being in this video! and if you think it is then you don't understand the song/video or Rock N Roll The video has a back stage/small house part/gig feel going on or just a simple Rock N Roll practice for a band, part of the Rock N Roll image and life and life style is having women their with booze etc, and the video is just showing this, the women aren't doing anything they haven't agreed to do! Nothing wrong with portraying a small band practice/party etc. And as Green Day have said sexual tension is a part of the records, the women help show the sexual tension in this video. Nobody understands the video, because there is no POINT to it AT ALL. The girls have NOTHING to do with the song. They are just there, being objectified for something called "The MTV Audience". I don't see how any sexual tension was underlined. They were just THERE, wearing almost nothing.
sallysimpson Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Reminded me very much of all the Duran Duran and Robert Palmer videos I watched in the 80s. I've seen better, I've seen worse. I think I'll like the song far better live. It's not one I'll put on repeat -- and I may even skip it now and again. At least they're touring! Hooray!
No Rhyme Or Reason Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Okay, I just watched the Oh Love video (my computer was being stupid and I missed it, but not the interview ) I actually really like it! I wasn't so sure when it first started. I wasn't sure about the girls and the "sexy" faces they were making (or whatever). But about halfway through it kind of clicked for me. I feel like there's some kind of message to the video, and I'm not sure exactly what yet, but while I was watching I felt like I was almost understanding something. I'm really not sure what I'm saying actually, but I think if I watch it a few more times it'll make more sense (and I might actually be able to articulate my thoughts better, haha!). It's not my favorite video of theirs, but I like it. It was simple-ish, but not too boring. And mmmm, Billie's looking good. The interview was fantastic too! I loved it! I was really sad when it ended. They talked about a lot of things, and it was great to hear about things they don't always talk about very much. I liked hearing the stories, like from the 1994 VMAs (it's funny how Billie used his hands to demonstrate that Adrienne was pregnant ). And Billie has good memory! The interviewer guy knew what he was talking about, and they guys seemed engaged and fresh and excited. I loved this interview. One of my favorite they've ever done (I haven't read any comments here in over an hour, so I need to catch up now!)
solongfromthestars Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 The girls were probably supposed to represent the sexual tension but it's done so badly that they don't. And yeah, they do look really bored. The band kind of do too, although not as much as the girls.
valeriesername Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 those girls looked like they were bored as hell. It all felt so forced they were trying to rock out but it was so akward and those sexy faces? oh well at least green day looked good THAT.
Sweet Armataged Chump Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Nobody understands the video, because there is no POINT to it AT ALL. The girls have NOTHING to do with the song. Someone who shorta gets what it's about
The Snark Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 When will you guys learn to not have high expectations for new songs/videos? It makes life easier. Maybe that's my problem, too... like, I was waiting for the girls to like rebel and go crazy or something, or just have fun, for the video to have some deeper meaning, but instead the girls just made the whole thing almost awkward to watch... They're probably models and shared a cracker for lunch before the shoot. I'm surprised they had enough energy to hold their heads up.
Soroush Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 The video was fantastic. nothing more you can expect for the video of a song with a music and lyrics like oh love's. Go0d job Sam. Different and go0d at the same time. I find it quite an improvement 4 GD

My impression was Green Day were interrupting the girl's preparation for a strip tease show or something. It looked like they were in a dressing room. All the girls were getting dressed (or rather undressed) and then GD show up and play and everyone's just like, oh don't mind them, they're just here doing their thing.

"I don't understand rock'n'roll" lol you don't get it. I don't care if the women wanted to be there and I totally don't care if ladies in skimpy clothing are hanging out with the band. But that's not the point. The point is they only appeared to be there for the male gaze. and if the "point" of rock'n'roll is for women to sit around and for band members to look at/use as arm candy, then Green Day should be breaking that stereotype, not reinforcing it. It's blatant sexism, sorry if you can't see that.
dumb shiny bitch Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 When will you guys learn to not have high expectations for new songs/videos? It makes life easier. There's no harm in discussing why it's bad though, because it is pretty bad!
Mar Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I liked hearing the stories, like from the 1994 VMAs (it's funny how Billie used his hands to demonstrate that Adrienne was pregnant ). Yes, that was precious. That whole story just made me smile because they truly had no idea what to do with themselves
westendriot Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I'm kinda meh about the video. I didn't hate it or anything but I kept waiting for more of a storyline or for something to happen and it never did. Loved the interview after though. I can't wait to watch it again.
Lushotology Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 the video blocked well that was expected. i'll check what can i do.
LittleBoyNamedTrain Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I think the problem is that too many people expect everything Green Day make nowadays to be exactly the same as the stuff they made back in 2004. They expect something completely different to what they actually are left with, and that's why so many people are disappointed. Even if this video was a little boring, people still need to lower/change their standards a little and they might actually enjoy their favourite band making new music.

Heather. Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Sorry if this is redundant: Did anyone grab the interview? I missed the first ten minutes. Is the R-rated version online yet?

They are just there, being objectified for something called "The MTV Audience". I don't see how any sexual tension was underlined. They were just THERE, wearing almost nothing. Its ROCK N ROLL! ITS FUN! EXITING! DANGEROUS! SEXY! and full of everything from good to bad, evil, and completely disgusting! This is a small look at a Rock N Roll life style, people don't like it don't watch it or get involved in the Rock N Roll life style. Rock N Roll is meant to be controversial, if it wasn't then their would be no Rock N Roll! I am all for people having morals etc, but you wouldn't go and eat a banana if you didn't like or have morals against it.

holyshitaflyingbanna Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 WTF IS GOING ON WITH THE GIRLS... I THINK ONE OF THEM KINDA SINGS ALONG AT ONE PART BUT THAT'S IT!!!!!!! THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING THROUGH OUT THE WHOLE VIDEO AND JUST MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE TO WATCH! GOD, AND THEY GOT "PUNK" GIRLS AS WELL (WITH TATTOOS AND EVERYTHING) BUT IT SEEMS LIKE PUNK OR AT LEAST GREEN DAY IS THE LAST THING ON THERE MIND...
