petros Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I didn't ''hate'' it at any point. Well, it's just.. they are all happily married, we've all seen Billie and Adrienne together for the past 18 years. It's like your dad is walking into the living room with a girl in his arm you've never seen before in your life. It's just.. wierd. I know, Billie is not my dad or anything.. but, yeah, I hope you understand my point. What you don't understand is that its a video. When Billie kisses Tre do you feel weird too? They're not cheating their wifes it's just a music video... Idk I'm not talking to you personally but to me it's so dump and immature to feel like this.Just my opinion.
WalkingContradictionPL Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 After seeing that promo I'm neutral. I change my mind, 'couse it reminds me about one party 2 years ago. It looks like birthday party of my two best friends Interactions between people are the same
Mary Daze Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 What you don't understand is that its a video. When Billie kisses Tre do you feel weird too? They're not cheating their wifes it's just a music video... Idk I'm not talking to you personally but to me it's so dump and immature to feel like this.Just my opinion. sorry, I didn't word out correctly what i wanted to say. I do understand that it is a video and that not real life. But I was expecting something completely different from that video and that's how I got irritated, but I'm fine with the idea now after the whole sneek peek showed up.
Hermione Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I was being dryly sardonic in response to Billie's comment about a "backstage feel". Ahh I see. Hard to tell in amongst some of the other replies lol. I am going to reserve judgment until I've seen the full video, but the little that I did see fits the interpretation of the song perfectly for me. Definitely some sexual tension going on there, lol. Maybe we'll get to see one of them taking a cold shower at the end of the video? Or who knows, maybe it's all just a fantasy one of the guys is having? I think the important thing to remember is that it's a VIDEO - not a home-movie. There's acting going on. I've read a lot recently about how these new songs are so different from anything the band has ever done before. Maybe the videos will be, too? Maybe they're trying to push the envelope in a different way than they ever have before? Maybe they are getting older and things are changing, people change, the way they look at life changes - this is where they are in their lives atm. They are writing and creating art from this point - not from 1995 or 2005, but from today. And because they are all 40ish, not 25 anymore, things are gonna be written from the point of view of a 40 year old. Y'know? This has been on my mind for a while, prob since the whole debate about The Voice came up, but I think some people put Green Day on a pedestal and portray their own expectations on how they feel the guys should be, or act, or make music, or create art. And once that expectation goes beyond what we've created in our own minds (because let's face it, no one here knows exactly what these guys feel or want or think all the time, but we certainly act as if we do sometimes...), we get disappointed. I'm not saying I love everything they do blindly because I do not, but I do try to see things from their perspective, keep an open mind, and understand where they are coming from before I judge. From the moment I started loving this band, they have earned my respect and have never let me down before. Anyway, I am really, really excited to see the rest of this video! Well said, I totally agree! I didn't ''hate'' it at any point. Well, it's just.. they are all happily married, we've all seen Billie and Adrienne together for the past 18 years. It's like your dad is walking into the living room with a girl in his arm (or rolling with her around in the living room ) you've never seen before in your life. It's just.. wierd. I know, Billie is not my dad or anything.. but, yeah, I hope you understand my point. It's just acting. No different to acting in a film or TV show. When you look at it that way it's not so bad.
petros Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I just remembered how back in the day when i was 14-15 and got Bullet In A Bibble how I felt weird in the parts when Billie showed his ass. So I can understand younger people not liking the idea...
Mary Daze Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I just remembered how back in the day when i was 14-15 and got Bullet In A Bibble how I felt weird in the parts when Billie showed his ass. So I can understand younger people not liking the idea... It's not that I would feel weird about the scanity-clad women, really. It was just really unexpected. As I said, sorry, I pointed it out wrong/forgot to add something in my post above. It is something they have never done before, I expected a video similar to LOTAG and then we got that sneek peek. I first didn't think of what the concept could be exactly.. it took me a while, but the idea of the video really grew on me. Now I am looking forward to whatch the whole video.
WorryRock02 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 i think i'll not love this video... to be honest? Right now i think this really suck!!! What happened to Green day?? wasen't Billie just some years ago telling: if there were naked girls in the video blah blah blah? speaking of waiting video??? Im not one of those people who complain about everything they do ... but this 'dishonesty' I did not like.
Mary Daze Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 It's just acting. No different to acting in a film or TV show. When you look at it that way it's not so bad. Yes, it isn't bad to me either, but it got me a little confused by watching it for the first time. I'm curious to know what will happen in the video exactly, I'll know if I totally love it or not by wednesday.

joeysturkeyhead Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Let's sum this up I really don't like it and it's disgusting me but it's only a video so it doesn't really botter me.
DannyDirnt Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 You're one of the first boys who said so. Every (male-ish) body thinks it's great and cannot understand why most of the girls aren't really impressed by the video related stuff we got so far. I don't know why, it's just a little disturbing to me
TheJedi Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 i've calmed down a bit about this video xD as some of you say, it's only a video x)
sampy Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 This video is definitely going to clean the tables on some music video awards. Green Day with not-even-soft-porn = WINNING just kidding....not
Fuzz Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I think a lot of you let your imaginations overrun your initial reactions way too much.
Sarcasm Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I think a lot of you let your imaginations overrun your initial reactions way too much. It won't be pornographic??
Fuzz Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 It won't be pornographic?? By the way people are talking about, anything less than Billie Joe and Tre jacking off together over some 20-year old girls will be unsatisfactory.
JDookie Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 But then it wouldn't have been daring ; putting a proxy in there would've let everyone off the hook - including the band, 'cause it would've made them arch observers of someone else's fantasy instead of putting themselves right in the thick of it. I think it was Mike who said these albums are 'almost voyeuristic', and that's what this video seems to be bringing on. 'Voyeuristic' should make you feel a little uncomfortable, like a peeping-tom - so yeah, you either want to turn away, or you want to keep watching. Interesting, ain't it? I see your point and I agree with you... I think that what they do in that video is exactly what they should have done. It's perfect, considering the song meaning and all the things we know about this trilogy! But still, I don't like that my favorite band acts like that Here's the big contradiction that lies in how those clips make me feel
Sarcasm Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 By the way people are talking about, anything less than Billie Joe and Tre jacking off together over some 20-year old girls will be unsatisfactory. I hope they'll play naked on a big stage with lot's of 18 year olds showing their boobs, slow motion pans of Mike blinking and Tre pretending to blow a drumstick. But seriously, they described it as a make out party, so I'm guessing it's gonna be a lot like the party scenes from Holiday. I'm willing to bet up to 9$ that Tre will wear a dress, but I'm not sure since this isn't a "fun" song.
Florence Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Just 30 seconds, and sorry for the audio. Showed the clip my sister, to hear someone else's opinion on the preview. And she was like "Are these the bloopers or is it from the official video?" omg
Bastard of 1967 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 The Network did have dirty videos, but for one thing those were never representing green day and for another, they weren't really interacting with the girls. I think it's the sudden keeness to be all "oh hey look I'm frolicking with naked girls back stage we're so rock and roll and hey we can still get totally hot girls just an average day for green day" that bothers me. They've never had that attitude before. Meh, it's not a big deal, but for the first time I might actually agree if someone calls them sellouts over this. Also I have no problem with sexiness in videos, at all, if it has a point to it, which so far this doesn't look like it does My interpretation of "Oh Love" as written/recorded is that it's a turning point in the trilogy where our unnamed narrator, caught up in the throes of a midlife crisis, decides to (as BJA put it) "shoot from the crotch" and takes off on a bender, chasing after the first hot sexy thing that comes across his scope. If in fact that's how they've structured the trilogy, if this is how Oh Love fits into it, and if in Sam Bayer's view having our now fortysomething guys sleaze around on camera a bit effectively portrays that visually, then yes the video will make sense and would indeed fit the song. I'm withholding judgment 'til I see the whole thing.
