Not setlist but itd be cool if GD would pull a Pearl Jam and sell every concert on line (Pearl Jam records all their shows and srlls mp3 flac or custom made cd-r)

Pearl Jam is also a band that doesn't play the same set every night but a complete different one. Different opener, different closer etc every night.

The one problem I had with Green Day's setlist on the 21st CB tour was the predictability of it. I saw them for the first time in 2009 and I knew pretty much every single song in order which did ruin the setlist a little bit. If they at least switch up which new songs they play each night that'd be a huge improvement in my opinion anyways

I agree. Murder City and American Eulogy are the only songs from 21stCB that should remain on the setlist. Good to see they're still playing one of them.

Cool to see that at least is Good Riddance back as well :) I'm still not a huge fan of their setlist though. Burnout and 2000LYA are the only real old school songs. Let's hope they'll play something different on Wednesday.

Well, I'm not a big fan of American Eulogy, but it would be a great track to hear. I hope that Minority gets out of the set of a while, and put that one instead.

I remember a few years ago when Alkaline Trio was doing the Occult Roots tour they performed 2 set a night, the first set was their first album "God Dammit" front to back, and then the 2nd set was 15 songs that were completely chosen online by people who were going to the show.

I think that Green Day should set out and try to do something like this on the next tour, have the 1st set of maybe 10-20 songs where they just play trilogy songs and then come back out for a 2nd "classic" set where they play 10-20 songs that were chosen from the fans attending the show. Maybe let the members of the Idiot club select the classic songs for the show or something.

I agree that this would be awesome, but do you think they can remember all the words/how to play all their songs? I mean, they have a huge catalogue of songs, some of which they haven't played for years. Do they not normally rehearse songs they're going to play live?

You could always not look at the setlists they've been playing prior to seeing them live. Haha :D

Yes...there is a lot of rehearsal that goes into it. A few times last tour they attempted to play songs that they haven't played in awhile (Stuart and the Ave, Castaway, etc.) and it didn't turn out too well. It was usually just Billie playing a little bit on the guitar and singing until he forgot the words. There's some video out there. Haha

One step ahead of you! While I have looked at the setlists for the festival and club shows because they can't really play too much new stuff this early. When the full tour starts I'm going to try my best to stay away from the tour section and this thread :P

Anyone else think it's kind of weird that they've made Murder City a staple of their recent setlist? Considering how unadventurous their setlist is otherwise, it seems strange that they've chosen this deep cut off that album. I have nothing against the song, and it's definitely grown on me because Green Day seems to love it so much, but it just seems so... random.

Well they played it at a fair amount of shows in their 21stCB tour (if I recall correctly I heard it at 2 out of 3 shows I went to during said tour), so while it perhaps wasn't something to be expectable, I don't find it shocking either. And no complaints form me on this either, I really like this song. I just wish at some point they decide to be adventurous and random and start playing Peacemaker.

i was kinda disappointed that the shows were kinda 'short' and that they used to play the 'same' setlist at every show..but ya, it was a promo-tour so hopefully the 'real' world tour (if there will be one) will have the classic GD shows again :D

They should take some requests during some shows, it would be nice to hear some songs that they never played live.

I would like to hear Having a Blast, Sassafras Roots, Westbound Sign, Panic Song, Uptight, Worry Rock, Deadbeat Holiday and Fashion Victim :D

at the show in MG, germany, we requested Westbound Sign, but billie kinda looked irritated and shook his head when he saw the request-signs :D

Yeah the problem with these songs is that Billie writed soo much songs, that sometimes he doesn't know how to play them anymore ...

The main problem is he doesnt like the songs. Like when someone asked him to play Dry Ice, he said no cause he doesnt like it. Same thing with Why Do You Want Him

I would always rather hear a song that the band like and put in all there energy to play it rather than a song which they an unenthusiastic about playing.

Yeah it would be awesome to hear a few deeper cuts, but i'd rather keep the energy going.

I mean hearing something really obscure like Rest would be like wow ok this is monumental but man this sucks.

Murder City is Billie Joe's favorite song from 21stCB. I don't remember the source, but I'm 100% sure that he said that. :)

I think it made sense because they have been doing a pop-punk setlist basically. The focus has been short, fast songs and very few ballads or arena rockers. Murder City is the only one from 21CB that fits that description. Plus as its been said its BJ's favorite from the record.

What I have been wondering is whether or not the choice to stick to the pop-punk songs was due to the fact that Uno was being promoted at the time and whether they will include more ballads and "epics" as Tre moves closer. Or maybe they just won't play a lot of Tre live? This would probably determine what they open with too. I think we can expect around 30 songs and the new ones will probably include Oh Love and Stay the Night at least. Also they have played SWTRF a lot and Stray Heart is supposed to be the first single from Dos so thats a likely choice as well. Its gonna be really tough for them to make setlists with so many new songs

Good observations! I just really hope they mix it up. The setlists on the last tour were so predictable (especially in the beginning, they loosened up later). I'm mostly talking about new material, because this is the first time that I genuinely want to hear NEW stuff more than old stuff (was not the case with 21CB). Every song on Uno deserves some live love, and I'm sure the rest of the trilogy will be the same. I hope they will commit to performing as much of it as possible throughout their tours.

Imagine if for one concert they played the trilogy front to back? :woot:

1) They'll play Oh Love, Let Yourself Go, Stay the Night/Nuclear Family, Stray Heart, Stop When The Red Lights Flash, then another from iDos!, then 99 Revolutions and 2 more from Tre! I think with the occasional other song.

2) Going To Pasalacqua/Paper Lanterns/At The Library, 2,000 Light Years away/Christie Road/Holden Caulfield, All The Dookie singles with the occasional Coming Clean/Burnout/F.O.D, Geek Stink Breath, Brain Stew, Jaded/St Jimmy, and the occasional 86/Stuck with Me/Armatage Shanks, Hitchin A Ride, Good Riddance, Nice Guys Finish Last/Scattered/King For A Day/Redundant, Minority with the occasional Blood Sex and Booze/Church On Sunday/Castaway/Warning/Waiting/Macy's Day Parade, All the American Idiot singles with the occasional Jesus Of Suburbia/Letterbomb, Know Your Enemy, 21 Guns, East Jesus Nowhere/Murder City/21stCB.

3) East Jesus Nowhere, Jaded, and possibly She or When I Come Around will become occasional, and others like Nice Guys Finish Last, and Stuck with Me becoming less frequent. They need to give Walking Contradiction and Warning another run.

4) Welcome To Paradise or Nuclear Family/Stay The Night.

Posted

I think that the setlist in the past tour were predictable, but always think they were pretty strong, but I never liked that the play long songs at the end. Half of an hour wasted in Eulogy/Minority, AI and JOS.

For now, I think that a setlist with a first part with only new songs would be cool. Welcome To Paradise as opener in standard, sucks. And with their new sound, sucks even more. A good start would be with Nuclear Family, followed by Stay the Night and Let Yourself Go. I'd add Oh Love, some song from Dos (Stray Heart or Fuck Time) and then run the classics, open them with Burnout or Going To Pasalacqua, and mix them with other songs of the trilogy.

Closers I think that they are ok, American Idiot and 99 Revolutions.
