tomdsjames Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Keep 'Welcome to Paradise' as the set opener because it really works, was fucking awesome yesterday in getting the crowd going. It also gets a louder sing-a-long at the start of the set than it does mid-way through when the crowd are getting tired and it deserves a loud sing-a-long. It's one of my favourite songs
.Holly Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I hope they keep playing the AI stuff, but I am more than happy to see most of 21cb dropped, except maybe the title track and American eulogy. As for AI, I hope they keep american idiot, holiday, bobd and st jimmy. Jos is amazing, but they have so much new stuff it may have to be dropped to make room. I would be happy to see kfad dropped, I too find that it's getting boring, but if the guys still love playing it I reckon it will stay. As someone else mentioned earlier, there's never going to be one setlist that pleases everyone. I hope to hear a lot of the new stuff on the tour, even if it means leaving out some of the older classics.
greendepent Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I like that the fact that the guys don't forget Murder City. Is a song that I have to hear live.
DarrenDookie Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 It looks like the acoustic encore is back - http://instagram.com/p/OzpnoaCeV4/ Picture is from Rock en Seine in Paris tonight
Heather. Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 It looks like the acoustic encore is back - http://instagram.com/p/OzpnoaCeV4/ Picture is from Rock en Seine in Paris tonight I hope they played Amy!
DecanoLP Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 I like that the fact that the guys don't forget Murder City. Is a song that I have to hear live. I agree. Murder City and American Eulogy are the only songs from 21stCB that should remain on the setlist. Good to see they're still playing one of them. Cool to see that at least is Good Riddance back as well I'm still not a huge fan of their setlist though. Burnout and 2000LYA are the only real old school songs. Let's hope they'll play something different on Wednesday.
pucky Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 As far as I know, they didn't get the acoustic encore back, but they got Good Riddance back in the setlist and that picture was taking during that song. But I am sure they will begin playing other acoustic songs as the tour goes on.
Idiotic Tendency... Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 It's called a "Bruce Springsteen concert". But realistically, they're at the point of their career where they would be able to do this. I hope the setlists will be looser for the next tour, they improved them on the 21st Century Breakdown tour by playing random songs in the middle but they still always opened with the same songs, played the same encores and played the medleys at the same bits. Hope that is kept to a minimum by the fact that they have 36 new songs that will hopefully be on rotation. *37
Anja Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I'd prefer 21 Guns over KYE, then it could replace BOBD as the ballad of the show too. BOBD is their uber-ballad, I don't think they're gonna drop that one anytime soon. Even though I'm getting slightly tired of it, too. I think I still prefer it over 21 Guns though.

I love Murder City and American Eulogy too, was lucky enough to hear American Eulogy twice in soundchecks but never during a show so hopefully it'll be played a few times over the next tour! And as for old school songs I'm hoping they're just holding back for now on the "warm-up" tour, they played 30+ songs towrds the end of the last tour and I have no doubt the setlists will get longer I hope they played Amy! I'm afraid it was just Good Riddance, no ther acoustic songs unfortunately
Ryan Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I really think that we are just seeing them having fun in the festival environment right now. As a previous poster mentioned, the real tour starts when they start the first US leg sometime in October. Then, and only then, will we be able to say what their setlist is going to look like. If you haven't already, check out my prediction on one of the previous pages for what I think their set will be once the official tour gets going. I've been following them for a long time and think I have a pretty good grasp on how they do things. That being said, they are Green Day and can throw a great curveball at any given time. I just think that, with all the talk of how much they LOVE these new albums, it is insane to think that the majority of their official tour set won't be made up of new songs.

Ryan Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Then again, it will probably change massively after Dos is released, and again once Tre’s out... Very possible. However, it doesn't really seem like they are holding back material either. I think that the best way for them to promote Dos and Tre would be to let people hear it during their tour.
That Dude Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I'm glad to see the variety in the setlists this time around. Different songs each show. And, I was very surprised that Good Riddance wasn't played at most of the new shows. It has been the last song for 16 years, I guess the time has come to switch it up.

Took a look at your predicted setlist and it seemed pretty well thought out, only thing I would argue is you have AI in the middle, they seem to be keeping it as the first encore song like last tour but other than that seems really good. Which new songs will be played is fairly difficult to predict but I'd be happy with the ones you've listed anyways, maybe just throw in Stray Heart I would love if they dedicated 3 or 4 songs a night to requests or random oldies, would make every show special

I reckon the setlists will become more diverse, with more new material added as the albums come out

Throw that in there somewhere too. Haha. As far as AI is concerned, I have seen them play it towards the beginning as well as first encore throughout these secret shows and festivals. So I'm really not sure where it will end up. I just think that with all the new stuff, it will end up being towards the middle because it's an easy song to keep energy up or get it back up. Only time will tell though!
Heather. Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 As it stands, I can't think of a more kickass encore than American Idiot, Minority, and 99 Revolutions. What a power-punch of political pizazz! (Shameless alliteration there, sometimes you're just in the mood for it.)

What a power-punch of political pizazz! (Shameless alliteration there, sometimes you're just in the mood for it.) I like the sound ( ) of that! I kinda hope Good Riddance is still gonna be the last song. Sure it's bitter sweet, but I really think it's the perfect show closer

I think it was done as the main setlist closer which was perfect
yenom2003 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I remember a few years ago when Alkaline Trio was doing the Occult Roots tour they performed 2 set a night, the first set was their first album "God Dammit" front to back, and then the 2nd set was 15 songs that were completely chosen online by people who were going to the show. I think that Green Day should set out and try to do something like this on the next tour, have the 1st set of maybe 10-20 songs where they just play trilogy songs and then come back out for a 2nd "classic" set where they play 10-20 songs that were chosen from the fans attending the show. Maybe let the members of the Idiot club select the classic songs for the show or something.
gdpony Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 The new setlists so far are ok imo. A bit short compared to the setlists we had in 2010. Im sure that will change in 2013 when they tour again and all the albums are out. I love how they're mixing things up right now, you never know what they're gonna play next. I did miss good riddance though, so happy it's back, well at least for now. I really dont care about the setlist too much, I just really hope hat I get to see them live during this tour. I've only been to one show and the setlist was perfect. Only song I didnt listen to is going to pasalacqua, which they played everywhere except costa rica haha.

WhiteTim Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Not setlist but itd be cool if GD would pull a Pearl Jam and sell every concert on line (Pearl Jam records all their shows and srlls mp3 flac or custom made cd-r)
