Anja Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I wouldn't mind at all if they cut the part with Shout and all the other covers. I'd love to still see King for a day but the rest just bored me cause I've seen it so many times and it just takes up a lot of time. Time that could be used to play 3-4 other songs. As for JoS, I would be sad if they stopped playing it but if it means that we get to hear 3 other songs instead (old ones please ), I'm fine with it.

Like I said earlier, great for you that you can be bored of it, some of us aren't so lucky.
Anja Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Like I said earlier, great for you that you can be bored of it, some of us aren't so lucky. I know, I know and that's why there's never gonna be that one perfect setlist that pleases everyone :/
JaHawk2009 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I guess they'll play it more when the tour gets going proper. When they're headlining their own gigs which have been announced in advance, they'll have a more varied setlist... I hope
Sabz Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I keep having this fantasy of a hardcore fan getting the opportunity to sit down with Green Day and have a talk with them, like, "Look guys, we love you, but I'm really speaking for the majority of people when I say we don't need or want you to play Know Your Enemy. I don't want to hurt your feelings, but if you're looking to put on the best show you can, that's an easy step you can take." I feel like they would legitimately want to know how many people dislike the song. It's a good live rally, but it's still not a song people really care to hear. But I bet if anyone had the heart to tell them, they wouldn't believe us, because they've only ever gotten "oh-ey-oh-ey" responses to make them think we're all enjoying it. Because it's not like we're going to boo when it comes on, even if internally I'm like "All right, gotta get through the next couple minutes." The song sold too well, that was misleading I actually love KYE and am exicted to see it live haha, never understand why its so hated As a drummer its realy fun to play and it has a great beat, not to mention dat guitar solo Isnt an absolute classic though i'll admit.
Sabz Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 NO NO NON NO NO. I really can't imagine this. I've never seen Green Day live. I'm planning to see them live next time they come around. But Jesus of Suburbia is "that one" Green Day song for me. They need to cut their overplayed songs. Know Your Enemy and American Idiot need to go. Every single dream I have of a Green Day concert, their playing that, and it doesn't help I was listening to the song when I saw this thread. Apart from cutting those 2 songs, this is exactly how i feel! Glad the 21CB stuff isnt getting played as much though
Justin Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 If you can remember, at the beginning of the 21CB tour, the setlist was pretty concrete of newer stuff with the expected songs. Then about 10 shows later when they comfortable with the new stuff they started changing it around, ill expect JOS to make an appearance nearer the middle of the tour a few times

Well, I agree with that but for Shout and Knowledge.

I hope their first own gig in the trilogy era will be next wednesday in munchengladbach, germany ;-)
The Pedestrian Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Maybe they’ve scrapped JOS because Dirty Rotten Bastards is meant to be a JOS-y singalong and will be a replacement?
green day drunkbunny Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I think I'll be happy if when the time arises that they are both close to me and I can afford it (these events have yet to happen at the same time X3) if they play king for a day or at least dominated love slave. XD
Tubbie Head Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I want the acoustic encore back! That is all.
Ryan Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 REALLY think that the OFFICIAL tour setlist will look something like this (with some exceptions to the middle and ending order, of course): Nuclear Family Stay the Night Carpe Diem Let Yourself Go Holiday Know Your Enemy Oh Love Wild One Makeout Party American Idiot Letterbomb Brainstew St. Jimmy Basketcase **Any combination of 2 r 3 of the following** 2,000 Light Years Away Going to Pasalacqua J.A.R Who Wrote Holden Caufield Geek Stink Breath One for the Razorbacks Nice Guys finish Last Hitchin' a Ride King for a Day Longview She 21 Guns Jesus of Suburbia Encore: Fuck Time Lady Cobra 99 Revolutions Acoustic Encore: Amy Good Riddance
burnout409 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I really hope they open with "Welcome to Paradise", it was a kickass song to start with the other night in London!
Ryan Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 I really hope they open with "Welcome to Paradise", it was a kickass song to start with the other night in London! I agree that for the smaller club shows it's awesome. They opened with it when I saw them at The Echoplex in LA on August 6th and it was sweeeet!! For their tour though, it's about album promotion. They are on tour promoting the albums, so I think that we are pretty safe with them opening with 4 Uno tracks.

They'd be doing this bit for so many years now. Which for some means that they've seen it more than 10 times or so, and I think this is the only bit of their show which gets old quickly. They could still do a funny act, but change it up a bit and do it with an entirely different set of songs than they've been doing it until now,.

Justin Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Whilst on record im not a huge fan of Know Your Enemy, i love that song live, the beat makes you wants to jump up and down which is perfect for the gig environment
British Idiot Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 They need to get rid of King for a Day/Shout (it's been 8 years+!) and play some Insomniac as well as more 1039 and Kerplunk. *i know it's predictable asking for more old stuff*
Cris. Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 and play some Insomniac as well as more 1039 and Kerplunk. This. Insomniac is such a great album, and it barely gets played. It's alwasys just Brain Stew/Jaded, and the ocassional show where they'll throw Geek Stink Breath or such (never been lucky enough to catch one of those), they should pay a little more attention to this album in live shows, in my humble opinion at least. And getting a 1039 or Kerplunk song played is always exciting and unexpected. and toitally nopsy off topic question, are you the BIAB guy in your sig?
greendepent Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 they probably dropped JOS for this promo tour because its a very long song?...i prepared myself to play this song on stage, but well..no i gonna prepare Going To Pasalacqua (along with Knowledge of course ^^ ) They played in the last promo tour, so I don't see a reason to don't play it apart that it was put away from the set. Brain Stew is a great song, but it kills the mood. To be honest, I also think ALL the songs off Nimrod kill the mood. The band didn't have much energy when the wrote Nimrod and Warning. That's why those albums sound awful live. I think that Green Day is just too awesome live and everything sounds better. When I saw them in Argentina, and play that song, all the gig explodes. Probably isn't THE song, but it's a cool one. I'm not too much impressed from the last sets. Welcome to paradise in standard just don't have the same vibe. They could play other old songs than the same. And Brain Stew/St Jimmy doesn't work. But this is the promo tour, let's see what happens with the real one.
Heather. Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 You'd think Green Day themselves would want to mix up the Shout shtick a bit. I understand they want to include that campy-random-fun-songs interlude, and it's definitely entertaining (especially for the majority of people who haven't seen them before), but the fact that they do the same routine of it most of the time you'd think would be boring for them.
July21 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 But the last time I saw them I was so fucking sweaty and hot and tired that when they started playing it I almost cried just because I knew I was about to have to sing along for nine minutes straight i can definitely empathize with that feeling but you somehow always continue singing and freaking out even if you're almost dead
She is Amanda Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I've said this literally a million times now, but Know your Enemy NEEDS to go.
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 If they want to cover 21st Century Breakdown with just one or two songs in the set I'm happy for one of them to be Know Your Enemy, it is really good live although it's a poor song, and it's at least in keeping with the rest of the set's overall sound. If they were to play 90 minutes of punk stuff and then throw in Jesus of Suburbia and 21 Guns just to appease that kind of crowd, it would sound out of place.
