BradGreenDay Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 How Many New Songs ? I Wound think they would play half setlist new songs or just over half. How Many Old Songs? About Ether Half Or Just Below On Setlist What Songs Would Be Dropped? I hope they dont drop any but if they did it would be songs like SHE, KING FOR A DAY, VIVA LA GLORIA.
Insomniac1984 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 First: Good Topic!! 1) How many new songs are they going to play? I think is kinda obvious that they're gonna play Oh Love and Kill the DJ. Well, I think they're gonna play around 12-15 songs from "Uno", "Dos" and "Tré". 2) How many old songs are they going to play? I expect they will play around 15-18 old songs from all the eras. I could say they will choose more songs from Dookie and AI, on the other hand just 1 song from Warning, Kerplunk and 1039. 3) Which songs are they going to drop? Definetely King for a Day, Know your Enemy, 21st CB, Burnout. 4) Which song are they going to open with? I think they will keep the "tradition" of playing the first song from the new album... at least when "Uno" will be released. I think they're gonna change a group of songs like they did the last tour, for instance: * Longview/Hitchin' a Ride * Holiday/East Jesus Nowhere * Letterbomb/Murder City * 21 Guns/BOBD/WMUWSE * Welcome to Paradise/Basket Case * Geek stink breath/2000 light years away * Going to Pasalacqua/Paper Lanterns
DecanoLP Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 Cool to see great replies here One thing I noticed: If they decide to keep playing 21stCB, the only logical spot for that song would be the first one. I can't see it being played in the middle of the set due to the opening chords. That would be pretty weird. Encore opener might be possible though..
greendepent Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 lol didnt Green Day play 2.5 hours every night on 21CB tour? No, they started with 2 and bit more minutes at the beginning. The 3 hours show start with the 2010 shows, with few exceptions, since they have more days between gig and gig. In 2009, they have 3, 4, even 5 shows in a week. As stated before, too long shows at beginning, is a bad idea.
Panji x_X Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 1) How many new songs are they going to play? 20 or more I guess 2) How many old songs are they going to play? I think they're gonna play around 8-10 old songs, but I expect more. 3) Which songs are they going to drop? 21st CB. 4) Which song are they going to open with? Oh Love

It doesn't have to played with the opening chords...
TheNimrod51 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I think oh love would be a cool ass opener. It'd be cool if they started with the stage pitch black and then opening chords of oh love start playing and it stays dark untill it kicks into the chorus. I just want a build up like 21CB. It's so much better than them just running on stage and jumping into a song. That's my opinion anyways.
gd86arg Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Ever heard the single version? It doesn't have to played with the opening chords... or Encore Opening
GuitarPunk94 Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 why does everybody think that they will play atleast ~10 new songs? didnt say they in that interview for summersonic that they will definitely play one new song, maybe two...but 10 ?
DecanoLP Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 Yeah, no way they'll play 10 new songs before Uno comes out. 2-3 might be realistic.
Sarcasm Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 1) How many new songs are they going to play? I'm hoping to see most of the singles from each album, maybe it's gonna rotate a little which venue get's which song, but as long as I get to hear the most energetic of them, I'm happy. 2) How many old songs are they going to play? I hope the band reads in the under rated thread here, and play all of those songs. Take back, walking alone, rotting and hold on and those kind of songs. Cult classics, in other words. The cult being me. 3) Which songs are they going to drop? Know your enemy. Please. 4) Which song are they going to open with? It's probably gonna be a new kind of start, with the intro to the major hit from I guess Uno, like the AI shows usually started with Billie strumming before american idiot. That could be cool with let yourself go, but I'm not sure plainly because we haven't heard all of the singles they're gonna tour with yet.
Brother Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 My hope is that they kind of ditch 21st Century Breakdown entirely. Honestly. That way they'd have room to play a bunch of songs from the trilogy (which I want) as well as a handful of hits from American Idiot and the rest of their back-catalogue (which I also want) and maybe a couple of rarities from 39/Smooth, Kerplunk, and Dookie. In reality though, I think that their North American tour in 2010 was meant to satisfy the "old" fans who wanted rarities to be played live. They might have already known that as they expanded their catalogue they wouldn't have the time, even in a three-hour show, to play everything that everyone wanted to hear. So what I think is that they'll do the "essentials" from each album before the trilogy and play all of the singles from the trilogy along with some unreleased tracks. Agreed. I hope they just play 21 guns, like how most of the time Brain Stew is the only song played from Insomniac.
spacesauce Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 For these shows before any of the albums come out, I bet they'll only play the songs that have been released (Oh Love, Let Yourself Go, and Kill the DJ) and maybe preview another song or two. They wouldn't want to overwhelm the audience with new songs. It could potentially be an energy killer. I bet they add in songs from each album. I can see a lot of 21st Century being dropped. It's clear they're going in a new direction and this is what they would have played a lot of during their last big tour. I wouldn't be surprised if they only play 21 Guns. Songs I don't see them ever dropping: Longview (classic), Good Riddance (it just wouldn't be a Green Day show...), Jesus of Suburbia (it's too epic).
Alan86 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 If they do drop alot of 21CB i wouldn't be surprised. My hope is that they make Murder City a setlist regular though.
TheJedi Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 i dont even get why people are so negative about 21stCB. it's a fucking great album, I love it as much as the other Green Day albums.. I'd really like to hear some of the songs from that albums live again

I'd really like to hear some of the songs from that albums live again I don't think it is negativeness, the thing is that, releasing 3 albums instead of 1, they will play a lot of new songs in the tour, which means that if we want to continue listening to classic and oldie songs, they will have to drop a good bunch of songs (or play 5-hour concerts XD). It's not that we don't want to listen to 21CB songs (Viva la Gloria, Murder City, Little Girl would be awesome), but if they have to drop so many songs to balance they shows, I prefer them to forget the 21CB songs and make space for the trilogy, the classic songs and, maybe, other, less commonly played songs.

But I would like them to continue playing AI, JOS and Letterbomb (and maybe St. Jimmy too). I love those songs too much. But, apart from those, I would be perfectly happy with a tour with the new songs and the old ones.
Harry Potter. Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 About the opening track, I always thought Nimrod started great with Nice Guys Finish Last. Maybe the show would start like that...
Daddy. Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I wonder what music they would walk out to (if they do) Maybe a new song has a Song of the Century start to it.
DecanoLP Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 New setlist yesterday: 1. Welcome To Paradise 2. American Idiot 3. Nuclear Family 4. Longview 5. Stay The Night 6. Carpe Diem 7. Let Yourself Go 8. Murder City 9. Hitchin' A ride 10. 2000 Light Years Away 11. Knowledge 12. J.A.R. 13. Oh Love 14. Dominated Love Slave 15. Kill The DJ 16. Christie road 17. She 18. Brain Stew 19. St. Jimmy 20. Holiday 21. Give Me Novacaine 22. Stray Heart 23. Wild One 24. Fuck Time 1) They opened with Welcome To Paradise again which is absolutely amazing. Let's hope they'll keep doing this, it's a perfect opener in my opinion. 2) Again only one song from 21st Century Breakdown. It really looks like they wanna get rid of most of the song, except Know Your Enemy, 21 Guns and 1-2 other songs
ComaWhite Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I like the new setlist. The perfect mix would be 3-4 songs from every new album, 5-6 from AI and 21CB and the rest some classic songs / rare stuff. I always loved the accoustic encore in the end ... I hope they still doing this
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Love that setlist. No 21 Guns! Mostly old shit! The stuff from the last two albums that doesn't sound rock opera-y! KNOWLEDGE!
