I think If a band was to support Green Day to be totally honest and weird about this... I think either (Weird answer) Korn (lmao) or (normal Answer) I think that they should get The Offspring, or Linkin Park... Or bring back MCR.. :D

The Offspring? Don't they like... hate each other or something?

Also, Linkin Park does NOT fit at all aha.

This post is perfect, right down to the "Jared Leto is the worst" aspect. :)

Does that mean you agree with me or not? :P

No one punk. Green Day aren't a punk band anymore and quite frankly, having two or three bands who aren't as good as GD were at a genre that is stale would be a bore.

This. This. This. This. It would just be weird to have someone more hardcore, and it wouldn't fit.

I think Sum 41 would be a good choice honestly. They've gone down hill ever since underclass hero and it's be cool if Green Day helped them get back on their feet. Plus it'd just be cool as hell to see those two bands in the same night.

It kinda depends what shows they play also, if they're playing stadiums then they can have bigger acts, I mean I saw friggin Jay-Z support Coldplay a few years ago. If they are playing a long stretch of an arena tour then they will get a smaller band. Also it depends where they're playing, they wouldn't have got Franz Ferdinand to support them in the UK for example as they're pretty big over here, but in America they're less well known.

Let's just say I love American Psycho if only for one scene. Bet you can't guess which one.

Can we get another Milton Keynes in summer 2013 please with support from Sum 41 into Rise Against into MCR. Think they sound different enough whilst still appealing to GD fans (well appealing to me anyway whilst also trying to also be slightly realistic) :D

The Blackout.

:P

I'd say an upbeat, joyful pop-punk band to get the fans in a good mood before Green Day come on. Like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, or All Time Low.

Someone like Lower Than Atlantis or Don Broco on the UK tour would be realistic and would kick ass.

ATL announced a tour a few days ago. I was kinda pooped about that since they seemed like one of the more reasonable bands mentioned in this thread.

Emily's army would definitley be cool :D

I also like the sound of

New Found Glory

(you're gunna kill me but) All Time Low

Mayday Parade

You Me At Six

I would love to see New Found Glory or All Time Low open for Green Day. I know a lot of people don't particularly like All Time Low, but they are one of my favorite bands so I would be a very happy person to see both bands share the stage. I saw New Found Glory at Warped this year and they were awesome live! They definitely know how to bring the energy.

MCR are too big to be an opening act, last time they opened was 2005.

Emily's Army or FBHT

The last time they opened for Green Day was, actually, in 2006 in Australia (Yes they toured together twice).

The last time MCR opened for a band, in general, was in 2011 when they were ahead of Blink-182 (of all people) on the Honda Civic Tour. Technically, it was billed as a co-headlining tour, but everyone who went knows that MCR went on before Blink *and* only played for half as long. Even the reviewers all referred to MCR as an opening band in that case because that's how they were treated, despite the different wording. BUT even if we don't count that, then the last time MCR opened for someone would've been 2007 when they opened for Muse, Linkin Park, and Bon Jovi, in that order, all in the same year, despite being at the height of their popularity in the middle of the Black Parade era.

Not wanting MCR to open for Green Day is one thing, but this idea that they *can't* because they're "too big" is ludicrous and not at all supported by any sort of factual evidence.

For me, well, i think the All- American Rejects or probably McFly but i also go for MCR :)

The Black Keys opening for Green Day would be awesome. But I agree with whoever said it a few posts ago that they are too big to be an opening act. Maybe Ballyhoo or someone like that.

Goldfinger would be great!

They seem to have bands which sound nothing like them (Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Best Coast etc), which I quite like. But it's mainly as I like that kind of music.

I remember Billie Joe stating he was a fan of the Fratellis, I'd like to see them support. Maybe Royal Republic, they'd be an amazing support act, just an amazing live act in general. The Subways would be a gooden too.

Ask me in 3 hours and I'll have changed my mind.

I made my own topic like this, then immediately noticed this one. I feel dumb :P

My pick would be The Living End. I feel like the energy between them and Green Day would mesh so perfectly.

Welp, they just announced that it's Best Coast :P (I was just talking to someone about how it SHOULDA BEEN WAVVES but Best Coast isn't the worst choice.)

emilys army and forobro hot tubs (they played manchester men 30/10/09) would be nice

Sharks would be a good opening act for them i think. As would Sum 41, AFI (They were great last time) or Billy Talent.

Everyone keeps saying Sum 41. Let me tell you I seen them life right after the release of Screaming Bloody Murder and they where shit. Bad sound, vocals off, I'm really not interested in seeing them support Green Day. They are just as bad as everyone makes Blink 182 out to be.

If I had my own way it would be someone like Blink, Rage Against Machine or Weezer.

A gig in Glasgow with The Frattelis supporting might actual be the loudest Green Day gig ever. They go nuts for the band up there.
