captain peroxide Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 So I gave it a couple days, and I came to this conclusion: Let Yourself Go, for me, is like the Static Age of the last album. Or like the Christie Road of Kerplunk - something like that. It's one of those songs that almost everyone else loves and cites as a favorite on the CD, but which I think is mediocre and boring, and ultimately one of the least inspired, worst songs on the album. We haven't even heard the studio version yet. (I still think [Oh Love]'s the best song ever ♥) Really?
GuitarPunk94 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 atm i listen my music with itunes..Oh Love song plays after ~2 weeks = 61 ... LYG after 2 days = 82...im kinda proud of myself (but this doesnt mean i dislike oh love, it is indeed an awesome song, but i just like the faster kick-ass songs from GD more than the 'softer' songs)
No Rhyme Or Reason Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 We haven't even heard the studio version yet. Really? Oh, I know. I might change my mind when I hear the studio version of LYG (and when I hear the rest of the songs!), but based on the live video, that's how I feel. It's just not as exciting as other songs are and likely will be, and I don't get all the love for it. It's just average-sounding. And yes, I really love Oh Love. It's seriously one of my favorite songs Green Day's ever recorded. (Hence my profound confusion and sadness at everyone's random hate for it...) But we all have different opinions, so it's all good.

No one hated it. We just think another song could have been a better lead single.
Ritz Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Let's not compare Oh Love and LYG PLEASE ! Different songs with totally different music ! :/
Brother Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 It's very repetitive. It's a better version of Christian's Inferno, but that is all. Will this be a single?

I don't think anyone hates it, I think a lot of us just feel like LYG is more what we were hoping for from Green Day after what we got with 21CB, which I personally thought was a mediocre album. And fair enough. I have absolutely no idea how you can think that, but that's okay Let's not compare Oh Love and LYG PLEASE ! Different songs with totally different music ! :/ Be realistic, please. They're the first two new Green Day songs in three years, of course they're going to get compared.

One of the top 3 Green Day albums, in my opinion. I think we just have totally different preferences with Green Day's music.

Cheap Escape Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Oh, I know. I pretty much agree with you on this, but I think LYG is a little better than "average-sounding." "Oh Love" has really grown on me and I thoroughly enjoy it. It's a mystery to me why everyone labeled it a mediocre (or even generic) song, but have elevated LYG to a God-like (for lack of a better a word) status.
DannyDirnt Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 It's very repetitive. I don't think anyone hates it, I think a lot of us just feel like LYG is more what we were hoping for from Green Day after what we got with 21CB, which I personally thought was a mediocre album. My thought exactly
WalkingContradictionPL Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I think my neighbours hate LYG, but it needs to be listened to on full volume power. And I still want to mosh during listening to it.
DannyDirnt Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I think my neighbours hate LYG, but it needs to be listened to on full volume power. And I still want to mosh during listening to it. Then the song totally applies to them
Heather. Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 The way Billie delivers the "I'm sick to death of your every last breath" line in that altered flamboyant way (that's the only way I can describe it ) is so fucking great, like he's really mocking whoever the song is directed at... I would be really bummed if that line isn't made to sound special on the studio version!
WalkingContradictionPL Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Then the song totally applies to them Especially verse "Shut your mouth 'cause you're talking too much and I don't give a fuck anyway". Or there should be "techno and dub-step" instead of "mouth"
PeaceMucker Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Now that's some fantastic fucking Green Day sound! Hot damn. Love the song, love the performance, love the video, can't wait for more. MORE!
Annie, get your gun Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 This song sounds nothing like Christian's Inferno. If you don't like it, that's fine, but don't justify that opinion comparing the song with another completely different, that you also don't like. I think this is a small taste of what Billie called "a big fuck you to everybody", and I fucking love it
Lindsay Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Christian's Inferno? The fuck? If anything, this song sounds a bit like Maria. Not a bad thing though, it's a great song and I'm really looking forward to hearing the studio version.
petros Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Haha it sounds exactly the same as Maria but it's ok I still love it What a great page own!
Harinezumi Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I find the lyrics annoying when they play continuously in my head. "Let yourself go let yourself go let yourself goooo!!!!!". I think I like Oh Love better. I like the melody, and it doesn't annoy me when it gets stuck in my head. Can't wait to hear the rest.
ganis Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I like this so much better than "Oh love". I love how it is full of energy and brings back the spimplistic elements from the earlier music Green Day produced. I was super dissapointed with "Oh love" though so compared to that most things will be great. Allthough "Let yourself go" is a fun listen and super catchy and I know I will listen to it quite alot, I know I will piss people off by saying this but I feel like both in "Oh love" and "Let yourself go" something is lacking. Maybe it wasn't the best choice to produce three albums maybe they should've only done one with the best of the best.. I'm not a troll I promise!

Haha you're not considered a troll for telling your opinion I say we wait and hear those albums and then we can judge what you're saying.Maybe you're right maybe not...We'll see
