Met Fan Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 That song is pretty cool, has a cool Nimrod feel to it.
DannyDirnt Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I was interpreting the "let yourself go" like as letting yourself go in the way of telling people when you don't like them, like he does in the rest of the song. Like "you don't have to stand this, tell him what you think!"
Shoot That Fucker Down Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Tre looks really bored playing "Let Yourself Go." At least until the final 10 seconds or so.
Firecracker Lell Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Is it just me or is there anyone else? Cuz the line " Shut up cause ur talking too much & I don't give a fuck anyway " is just on my mind since yesterday U know, it's describing my life --- I wanna say that to a lot of ppl around me
Malleus Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 For me, I take Let Yourself Go as Billie saying "stop being such a whiny cunt and just enjoy the music." Or whatever, it can apply to anything in life.
Guest Honey Emerald Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Autotune causes headaches... that can not be enjoyed. The song is ... beautiful!
Quido Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Hi my name is Quido, and I'm a Let Yourself Go-oholic

K-Lo green Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I wasn't talking about grammar I was talking about song writing. Just messing with ya!
jacknovella Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 i feel like im the only one who hears "i'd rather get fucked in the face" not punched... Don't worry I hear that too XD
K-Lo green Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 You know what you guys? I really wanna like this song. I really do. But there just aren't enough fucks in it. I'm sorry
captain peroxide Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 For me personally, if Uno is "before the party", then I feel like this is part of shedding the past in readiness for that party; letting go and telling someone what you really think, finally letting out all your built-up anger at them. You finally don't give a fuck anymore and you want them to know. That pretty much sums it up I guess, there's not really much more I can add to that. I think you're taking that idea of a "pre-party" theme too literally. Again, I don't think these albums are going to be lyrically tied to those themes of pre, party, and post. It's more about the overall sound of the songs than having all the songs on Uno somehow be about people getting ready for a party. It's probably going to happen anyway, but it's going to bug me if I see a bunch of people bending over backwards to try and explain how each and every song on Uno somehow relates to people getting ready to go to a party. That's not what Billie meant when he said that. They're not telling a story, they're organizing albums by sound and feel, rather than lyrics.
Clockwise Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 My dad loved this song, and he also loved Oh Love. When he watched the video, the first thing he said was 'we've gotta go see Green Day live again!'
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 My dad loved this song, and he also loved Oh Love. When he watched the video, the first thing he said was 'we've gotta go see Green Day live again!' This makes me laugh because I think my dad secretly wants to go see them with me and my friends... but I don't know if he would ever admit it.

I only meant that as a vague personal and totally metaphorical interpretation, not as anything serious about what Billie had in mind or about people literally going to a party. I know that's not what he meant, sorry if I phrased it badly. I should just shut up.
Annie, get your gun Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I like the "Shut your mouth 'cause you're talking too much and I don't give a fuck anyway" phrase... it would work funny as a phone call ringtone

We can debate about this, no one has to shut up because someone else disagrees with their interpretation.
