But the chorus! Argh. This is everything I hated about Christian's Inferno. "Wwooooaaaahhhh, Christian's Inferno. Wwooooaaaahhhh, Christian's Inferno. Wwooooaaaahhhh, Christian's Inferno" is now "Let yourself gooooo, Let yourself gooooo, Let yourself gooooo. Let yourself gooooo, Let yourself gooooo, Let yourself gooooo" on and on, until you can't take it anymore. It's not so bad the first time, but when they get around to repeating it twelve times at the end, you've had enough. This is a sub-2 minute song, stretched to nearly 4. If they're going to do these kind of tracks, they need to just get in and out, not fuck about repeating a one-line chorus for eternity.

I love the song, but I agree. The chorus (or lack thereof) is my least favorite part. It's not so much the repetitiveness, but that Billie's voice is almost too whiny? I don't know, something about it, eh. I don't want to sound nit-picky because like I said, I do really enjoy it, but I totally get what you're talking about. The guitar is amazing so I'm totally jamming the fuck out, but I kind of zone out during the chorus.

This was recorded last November, so many they changed the chorus? I hope so because it definitely is the worst part of the song. The fact that they released this makes me think they didn't change it, but you never know.

I really like love Let Yourself Go! It's so catchy and punchy and wonderful and reminiscent of everything that makes Green Day Green Day. :woot: I love how it's a combination of sounds of them from different eras mixed with a whole new sound.

I can't pick a favorite between this and Oh Love, though. I love them for different reasons, and I can't really compare them. Oh Love really shows off Billie's vocals, whereas Let Yourself Go shows off the band instrumentally. However, if they are any indication of the things to come with this trilogy, I'm pretty much saying that this will be this best era of Green Day music ever.

Same, I have been singing "Let yourself go, let yourself go, let yourself go-ooo" all the freaking day!

Also, I'm so glad everyone likes this! Those people who critisized Green Day for their style in AI-21CB are now happy! I wonder if now we'll get a new generation of haters who want "old-school" GD back to their 2004-09 style

Sure, there's always people who's never satisfied and loves complaining :P

But let's not think about them and ENJOY THIS AWESOME AS FUCK SONG

The entire song is amazing, I knew I'd love it since listening to the live stream back in November. The bratiness is something that I've been missing, and this clearly has it. I love the simplicity, and kind of the chantiness of the chorus. Ahh, such a great fucking song. FUCK.

I've thought "Let Yourself Go" was great, from verse to chorus, from the first time I heard it.

It's a great song. I hope they don't change it one bit.

Man, this is two songs in a row I'm not fond of. I'm getting worried about the whole trilogy now :(

Let Yourself Go is certainly a burst of energy, and I think it will work okay as a palette-cleansing album track. On its own, however, it inherits some of the problems of Oh Love and doesn't fix those of Christian's Inferno. The verses have a nice stomp to them, the solo is good (if predictably placed), and - as Hermione and everyone else said - I love the "Shut your mouth..." breakdown. Great attitude, lot of fun.

But the chorus! Argh. This is everything I hated about Christian's Inferno. "Wwooooaaaahhhh, Christian's Inferno. Wwooooaaaahhhh, Christian's Inferno. As was the case with Oh Love, someone - anyone - needed to step in and do some editing. They didn't, and it's starting to become a pattern.

It's live, of course it's longer than it should be. My prediction, the studio track will clock in at less than 3 minutes.

There's nothing wrong with simplistic choruses when they're honest and simple. Christian's Inferno is a terrible song, mostly because the chorus makes no sense. I mean, what the fuck does it mean? This, while repetitive, is just in-your-face, easy to understand and relate to. I don't see a problem with it. Some of the best songs in the world have repetitive choruses.

I love both songs, but Oh Love is more ambitious and unique, and definitely more radio friendly (especially considering the swearing in LYG). Let Yourself Go just seems too safe and predictable to really get me. But it's a sure way to make 99% of the Green Day fans happy, since that's apparently what everyone wants - the classic Kerplunk/Dookie/Nimrod sound.

Yeah, because that's what we WANT. We've had ten years of them trying to be ambitious and unique and radio friendly. Some of it worked, some of it didn't. They really can't play it safe anymore, because whatever they release is going to please a different group of people. There's nothing for them to fall back on. Revisiting their roots is the best thing they could possibly do after 10 years of grandiose rock opera.

yes that one. They're acting like a fucking 80s classic rock band. They aren't.

You don't know what you're talking about. This is about as far from 80s classic rock as it gets without going on a fucking jazz funk odyssey.

I love the chorus. It's INSANELY catchy, I can imagine having so much fun bouncing around and singing along to it at a show. If it wasn't so simple and repetitive it wouldn't be so awesomely catchy.

It still bothers the fudge out of me as to how similar the verses sound like Maria! :P

I agree, I love hearing that "classic" Green Day sound in these new songs. But I think there's something new there too. There's this lovely retro (as in really retro, before Green Day's time) rock and roll feel to it all as well. So I don't see it as just going back to their roots, I see it as a new sound that incorporates some of their old sound but still sounds fresh and different. It's something for everyone really, seems like there's gonna be new and old and everything in between on these albums.

I like it :D. It's only a hint of it (mostly just the intro) so it's not enough to annoy me but just enough to make me smile at the similarity.

This song really reminds me of Babs Uvula Who.

Umm no but also the strumming of the single note that Maria also plays as well as the chords almost having the same progression. A flat, to D flat. The choruses are great though. How can you guys not hear it? Play The intro verse and then play Maria right next to it :P

So much power, so much raw energy, I'M SO EXCITED. I could cry, I could run, I could jump, I could cum.

Porque no los cuatro?

Oh definitely. This isn't cookie-cutter Green Day by any means, but what I love about this sound is how simultaneously mature and retro it feels. It's like it takes all the best aspects of Green Day and puts them into one song. Pure fucking fun and emotion. I can't put into words how excited this song makes me.

there are only so many chords. I think it's either cigarettes and valentine, or carpe diem, who has the same chords as burnout or something

Cigarettes and Valentines is like Burnout and Carpe Diem is like Suffocate :o

IT just proves that you can make different songs with the same chords, even if some parts are similar. As long as the song isn't a total copy, I don't care.

Love the lyrics to this song!! Another Green Day song I can completely relate to. Perfect song to blast when your having one of those days!!

I know a lot of people are upset by the simplicity and repetition of these new songs, but I'm all for it. We've had more complicated material on previous albums. I think it's nice to have something that you can listen to more casually once in awhile. That being said I think there will be plenty of variety on the trilogy, and I'm not concerned at all. No complaints out of me, this song kicks ass.

I was humming 'Let Yourself gooooo" when I went to sleep and now I woke up and still I'm humming the same thing. This is good ! Green Day, you are fucking addictive ! Well you always were, for me :D

Has anyone figured out the last line in the last verse yet? It sounds like "you're the very thing I can't do without"......not exactly right, but close.

The song is fucking amazing. It reminds me of The Misfits for some reason... Which is awesome.

YES! This is what I needed to hear! I missed their aggressiveness.

You can't really compare it with "Oh Love" (which I liked) but I prefer this instead. I wish I could sing this to a few people at the moment...
