Boston Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I'M SERIOUSLY ABOUT TO DIE! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! This is exactly how I wanted to feel about "Oh Love." So much power, so much raw energy, I'M SO EXCITED. I could cry, I could run, I could jump, I could cum.
Khris Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Well, I'll be honest, I thought it was just okay. I'm glad everyone seems to be enjoying it, but I'm not crazy about this song (not yet, at least). I agree. I personally don't like the Maria verses hahaha. The choruses are cool but its just an okay song. Just my opinion.
It's Splash Time Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 This is exactly the kind of song I've been hoping for. Fast paced, perhaps not genius lyrics but some fucking awesome solos. I love it. My mum just keeps saying that she hears "everybody got a buddy named Joe!" instead of "gotta let me go" I hear that.
No Rhyme Or Reason Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Finally got out of bed and listened to the song! I really like Let Yourself Go - it's energetic and fun. And I like the higher notes in the choruses too. But I don't really get why people are saying "It sounds like Nimrod/Kerplunk, so you must like LYG too - it's classic Green Day!" I love their old stuff, but I don't want them to keep sounding like that forever. I want them to evolve and change and just improve on every album. That might be why I don't *love* this song. I mean, it's great but it's not as different as some of their other songs, so less new/exciting for me. However, I do appreciate that Green Day can still write these angry snotty punk songs, and I love this song for what it is. Considering Let Yourself Go and Oh Love, and what we know of the other songs on the trilogy, I'm really excited out how the albums will all sound. There are so many different styles and topics they cover! Definitely the most musically and lyrically varied album(s) they've ever done. That's what I'm most excited for I still love Oh Love way more than LYG (it's just so different from what they've done before, and the classic southern rock sound, and the beautiful lyrics ). I may never fully understand the hate it got. (Though I think it's primarily just because people were expecting something more like this - Let Yourself Go's energy, snotty, angry punk sound - but they got something that doesn't quite fit with any of their past stuff. It's just people having different interests and wanting that return to the Nimrod-and-older sound.) But anyway, Let Yourself Go is fun and I really like it. But I'm personally still glad we got Oh Love first. I wish people would stop bashing it in order to express how much they love LYG here. It makes me sad
Khris Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 When I write songs, every time I notice that one bit sounds like another song, I actually go "ah fuck, it kinda sounds like this song" and try to write something new. I like hearing and creating things I've never heard before.
Starred Thoughts Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Holy shit. I don't know how else to put my thoughts about this song into words. It's loud. It's fast. It makes me wanna rage. I can't even fathom how amazing the studio version is going to be. I might be blaring this in the car later...
daria02 Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I think I might find myself saying "shut your mouth 'cause you're talking too much and I don't give a fuck anyway" on a lot of Facebook statuses now.
solongfromthestars Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I still love Oh Love way more than LYG (it's just so different from what they've done before, and the classic souther rock sound, and the beautiful lyrics ). I may never fully understand the hate it got. It makes me sad  I don't have a favourite out of these two we've heard, but I totally agree with you. I don't think Oh Love would have gotten anywhere near as much hate if people hadn't been expecting to hear something like this immediately, and it makes me sad to see people bashing it to express how much they like this one, too. At the same time though, I don't know that I feel this really fits with "old" Green Day either. It wouldn't be out of place on Nimrod at all, but it probably would have sounded different then. It just has much more of a fresh and even mature feel to their older stuff (for me, anyway). Which is great, because I never want to see them replaying the past over and over, either. It's great to see that with these albums they're going for so many different and new things. Green Day doesn't have to be the same thing all the time; they're not forced to be a purely alternative band.
tomdsjames Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Release a studio version as a single god dammit, it already has more plays on my itunes than Oh Love and it's only been downloaded for 2 hours
Heather. Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 These albums are going to be perfect for the fan who can truly love and embrace all the different music Green Day has to offer. I love Oh Love and Let Yourself Go in equal amounts, as if one was my prissy little girl and the other was my brute son. If you look at these songs as a mother looks at a child, you can see the beauty in them all WTF.
Nele Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Holllllllllllllllly fuuuuuuuuck this is fucking awesome oh my god!!! :runaround: :runaround: Sorry I', listening to it right now nd cant contain my exctemeeent!!
pretty_and_demented Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I can't even process how FUCKING GOOD this song is. Holy Fuck. This had made my expectations for the rest of the album so much higher.
whitechristmas Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 This probably won't be my favorite song, but it is really damn good. I'm downloading it now.

And I forgot to say it, but you did: I don't really fit this with "old" Green Day either, because it has a different, I don't know, energy or something to it that seems updated. They can make songs that have these elements, but they're not going to come out in the same way. LYG does sound more modern and mature than something that they would have released 15-20 years ago. I love how varied these albums will be. I'm really open to hearing different sounds from them, and hopefully everyone else will be too
WalkingContradictionPL Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Download: http://bit.ly/NDvMPH http://img862.imageshack.us/img862/3217/letyourselfgo.jpg Can use it to make my Winamp look perfect? I'm too lazy to do this by myself After listening to LYG I don't know how many times I know what will I choose next time, when my neighbour will listen to dubstep next time. I shoudl say I don't give a fuck anyway but Gotte let me go (or Billie's scream or what the hell is that) sounds better I'm curoius if some people after listening to LYG will set in wikipedia as gener for Uno sremo or herdcore?
spark in the night Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Does anyone else think its a little Nimrod-y ?
solongfromthestars Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 My neighbour is blasting R&B in response to LYG and it's drowning it out :angry
TheJedi Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Does anyone else think its a little Nimrod-y ? maybe i'd say it's more Insomniac ^^
Trotsky Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 This song is far more exciting than "Oh Love" and generally renews my hopes for a good album.
Four. Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 This song is fabulous. WAY better than Oh Love. Can't wait to hear it live!
Guest Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Oh, this is more fucking like it. I like this song, I like it a lot. My thoughts exactly. It has a Ramones feel to it, which is awesome. Fuck "Oh Love", this should've been the lead-off single. My neighbour is blasting R&B in response to LYG and it's drowning it out :angry Go stab them in the face. They probably deserve it.
beejeezee Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Not a single person has complained yet. This has to be a world record! I have a complaint. It's to amazing. The tears, and jizz, are legit.
Heather. Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I can't even call this song necessarily BETTER than Oh Love... they're just too different. For me that would be like deciding whether Holiday is better than Good Riddance. There's no point and I couldn't even begin to have that conversation. All I know is I don't dislike any of the songs we've heard, and with Oh Love and Let Yourself Go, Green Day is 2 for 2 in my book!
