The Forgotten is a new place for Green Day - this is an attainment, everything's up a notch from here. Beautiful and ragged and haunting, and really, I have to say it - unforgettable.

I think the amusing thing about this whole marketing plan is that there are some random people out there who have been unknowingly or knowingly completely inundated with Green Day (i.e. people who watch CSI NY, and all the LYG commercials), while the majority of others remain completely in the dark. There are some people who are probably realizing "WTF, Green Day is everywhere!! They've taken over CBS!" but still most people either didn't realize or didn't care.

Agreed 100%, though I have to say (because I first listened to the audio online before watching the episode), the cheese factor really emanates when you're watching it on CSI. The lyrics seemed much more genuine until placed in front of Gary Sinise emoting at me. So I do fear what this will look like in the Twilight film  Hopefully it's just the first song in the credits. Eeeek.

Maybe, but do not underestimate the breadth and depth of Green Day's following. eg I know (on a personal level) an LA based film producer and he is a big Green Day fan. If you needed music in a production would you also not consider using tracks from your favourite bands ?

Agreed. I'm glad I went back a couple pages in this post because I would have said almost the exact same thing  I like the meaning and reflective nature of Amy's lyrics and, much as I hate to speculate, now feel like they're a hell of a lot more personal than originally thought with Billie's treatment. However, the actual flow of the song left me a little cold. The Forgotten, meanwhile, I really thought was simple and beautiful.

And God, I hate CBS, except for the Good Wife; I didn't remember this was on until 9:33 and even watching that much of this show was cringe-worthy. I would have loved for their songs to be on there. Cool to hear LYG in the Amazing Race trailer, though.

ahaha we must be almost the same person, I NEVER watch CBS. I'm just starting to get into How I Met Your Mother (I know, like 8 years late), but part of the reason I never watched it is CBS usually doesn't have the shows I go for. I'm not a big crime show person either. They all run together after awhile. The whole time anything happened I was like "Oh, well that's convenient..." Of course he would leave a finger print on the hospital window.

Hope you caught the sex education on Parks and Rec this week :bunny:

And before getting yelled at for going off topic, I really hope The Forgotten gets promoted. I want to hear it in Twilight commercials and see it somewhere on the front page of iTunes.

Yep, but that has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I just meant that there were a million TV viewers who watched last night and got attacked by Green Day music... some of them liked it, some of them didn't, and some of them didn't really care, but many probably recognized that it was quite an onslaught. Then you've got the rest of society in blissful/pitiful ignorance

I don't know why but the Forgotten feels like Murder City. Just kinda the reflective mood of it. I love it.

I'll have to hear The Forgotten in full and good quality until I make a judgement on it. I can't really be fair after listening to that, Nightlife and Stop When The Red Lights Flash. My mind is a mess.

The more I listen to the clip of The Forgotten, the more impressed I am by it. It has this epic feel and sense of finality, but is also much more minimalist and open-sounding than some of their previous power ballads (like last night on earth). After I heard it, I was saying to myself, "Wow, this is from the same sessions that brought us some of their most hard rock sounding tunes like "Let Yourself Go" and "Lady Cobra"!

That's one of the great things about Green Day. They can bring life to so many different forms of rock and it's just refreshing. I'm glad that they don't limit themselves and are willing to try different styles!

The Forgotten. I'm getting goose bumps, seriously. And I don't even know why. It truly sounds like a John Lennon song, so beautiful. Amy is extremely beautiful as well. It could have been a little, little bit slower in my opinion, but it's awesome this way. Nightlife somehow sounds so extraordinary. Not something I thought I'd like, but I do. Impressive that Green Day seems to make me like every genre  Stop When The Red Lights Flash sounds too awesome, that's all I can say.

More songs on my channel!
