St. Jimmy the Troublemaker Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 In my opinion, Nightlife is genuine single material, but boy does that snare sound funny
tvrman Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 The Forgotten could have been a Song by John Lennoneven down to the Phil Spector strings.
Chuckk Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I still think Amy should be an Acoustic song ... it'd be SO MUCH BETTER ...
Yojimbo Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I don't like the effect on Billie's voice and the electric drum beat thing on 'Nightlife' but that bass line is SICK!
GuitarPunk94 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 quite interesting to see the reactions on the new song..ill stay strong and not listen to them
Yojimbo Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I dug the drums and thought the bass line was just FANTASTIC but I was disappointed when i heard Billie's over-produced voice come in as well. One thing I know I will never do again is watch that television show. WTF was going on? Did I really have to watch a little girl accidentally get killed because I wanted to here some new Green Day music? Good stuff though. Can't say it was all apros pro though. That is drama for you.

No Rhyme Or Reason Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I've put the episode on sendspace for those of us outside america or who want to see it again! http://www.sendspace.com/file/21fy61 (179mb) Thanks for uploading the episode! I love all the songs, but in totally different ways. I really can't wait to hear Dos and Tré now! When Nightlife first started, I was like "what is the awesome groove?!" It's so good! I love the bass line especially - the music overall just fits together perfectly and it's creepy but grooving and sounds cool. I feel like I could strut down the street feeling like I'm the coolest girl in town when I listen to it, haha! But then Billie's vocals - so haunting and grimy and, I don't know, just almost sickly in a way. A lot of people are complaining about the effect on his voice, but I think it actually adds to the meaning of the song and works perfectly. It feels a little dangerous and icky, and that's what I love about it. Amy sounds beautiful. I like the kind of echo-y quality of it. It reminds me a little of Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah. The sound, rather than intimate per se, is more open and feels like it captures the mood of Amy being far away now. Instead of her being there, it's just an empty echo instead. That's why I love the sound of the song - it communicates the loss. But Billie's vocals also have an angelic quality too - a little imperfect and raw, but sweet and pure. I love the simplicity of the song, and I think it works really well for what it is. The Forgotten - wow! This is the kind of song I've been waiting for Green Day to do. I real, simple piano ballad with just Billie singing over the piano keys - and then finally the drums and strings come in. The strings! I love the full orchestra sound that they lend to the song - it makes it so stunning and complete! And the way Billie sings it! The whole song sounds like a classic rock ballad to me, and I could envision the Beatles, or just John Lennon, performing this. The song isn't overdone though - it stays minimalistic enough, even with the addition of strings and everything at the end, so that the meaning of the song is still the focus. I love The Forgotten! I can't wait to hear the whole song! All the songs are lovely, but in different ways, and I'm excited to hear them in their entirety - and the rest of the songs too.

Red Lights Flash Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 The Forgotten is the most beautiful ballad that Green Day ever wrote. Songs rarely make me feel emotional at all, but this song makes me feel nostalgic and reflective. Absolutely didn't expect this.
kripack Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Site not found :/ Just search CSI on the pirate bay, if it's avalible in country

Tooooooooooooom Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 That's it, I'm sold, this trilogy is stunning. Hahahaha, don't wanna get ahead of myself but wow, going from Nuclear Family on one end of the Green Day spectrum to The Forgotten on the polar opposite. And all that via Kill The DJ, Fuck Time, Stray Heart, Nightlife, Amy etc. Just stunning. And I have to admit, I thought the trilogy would be an awful idea...
San Miguel Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 That's it, I'm sold, this trilogy is stunning. I think many of us were worried that the quality of all 36/37 new songs wouldn't be up to the usual stratospheric standard that Green Day have set themselves. Whilst we haven't heard a lot from Dos and Tre i think it's safe to say those worries are gone, for me at least. Uno is a really good album, the songs I've heard from Dos so far and mind-numbingly good and the few I've heard from Tre sound kick-ass too. I think my favourites are still Stay the Night and Stray Heart, but these CSI trailers have told me that Amy, The Forgotten and Stop When the Red Lights Flash will be pretty damn amazing.
