spacesauce Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 After hearing "Amy," I don't think it stands the chance of being a hit. It's no Good Riddance, not even close. They should have left Billie's voice more raw, and for some reason this one felt faster than the live version? I think I prefer it slower. I do think "The Forgotten" has tons of potential. I think this will bring up the whole band selling out thing again to the haters. The lyrics to the song may come across as cheesy to some, especially since it's a part of the Twilight soundtrack. But this song really has a classic feel to it--Billie's vocals, the piano, overall production, even the lyrics somewhat. It's all great. From what we heard in the episode, I think this song is award worthy.

From what we heard in the episode, I think this song is award worthy. See, I thought the effect on Billie's voice on Amy fit perfectly. He's singing out, calling out to this girl who he never, and will never, have the chance to meet. Maybe this is just me being over dramatic, but I think Billie sees alot of himself with her, both good and bad. She had this amazing talent - her voice, but as much as she called out for help, no one heard her, and now it's too late. It's almost like his way of answering her, him saying "I've never met you, but I want to help you in any way I can". The end result being his haunting, yet beautifully gentle answer for help; he's calling back to her and its echoing throughout the world for her to hear. (How's that for looking into a song way too much? )
The Forgotten Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Now can someone upload these or something! I wanna hear Amy again!

I like voices to sound natural, like I'm hearing them live. Since we know Billie doesn't sound exactly like that, it made me a little disappointed.
drugstore hooligan Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Any recordings? One listen just aint enough to absorb it all.

Which is what makes them great is that they sound even better live. Most bands suck live...They have always sounded great live.
Alan86 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 http://www.examiner.com/review/csi-ny-unspoken-review-words-aren-t-always-necessary A positive episode review
tresrocknrollgf Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Sorry, I don't get an A+ for quality, but here it is. Not mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVqCJvnvtqA

spacesauce Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Which is what makes them great is that they sound even better live. Most bands suck live...They have always sounded great live. But is this justification to mess with the vocals for studio recordings? So when we hear it live, we'll say "it sounds better?"
Raymond Peterson Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Did anyone happen to get the clip of this version of nightlife without lady cobra?
Travis Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 But is this justification to mess with the vocals for studio recordings? So when we hear it live, we'll say "it sounds better?" I think bands just like to add their spin on a song to give it a certain sound so fans can appreciate the studio version and then you have the stripped raw version live. In their case, it's very possible to make both and both still sound great.
justcause Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Loving the clip of 'The Forgotten'. As to the Lennon influence, people were talking 'Mind Games', but I'd more so go 'Imagine', with a dash of 'Instant Karma' in the lyrics, the 'where in the world'. John trips on a whole what in the world/ how in the world / why in the world thing throughout the song, it's fucking great.
iRun Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Not going to listen to the songs again until leak/release day.
BillieJoeObsesser Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Love The Forgotten and Amy so much!!! <3

Rusty Hart Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 great song The Forgotten... and this song is no guitar bass or drum???
Asa. Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 great song The Forgotten... and this song is no guitar bass or drum??? Towards the end there's drums, bass, and I think acoustic guitar. Note, these are two short parts of the song so there might be a guitar solo, which, if done correctley, could make this song damn perfect.
