sampy Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Damn it sounds great! Reminds me of old 90's Green Day it's so hard to wait these albums to come out when we're getting these kind of sneak peeks every now and then.
eastbayweirdo Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 That was so good!! I knew it said 99 Revolutions in the song but I had no clue when or where and it had been killing me.
ltrbmb17 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 i agree, awesome song. I love it as I love Too Much Too Soon! And I think iTRE! will be really epic! But so much similarity of melodies worries me. BJ's exhausted?
DarrenDookie Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Reminds me alot of Surrender by Cheap Trick
DannyDirnt Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Can someone upload the no dialog version to YouTube? I can't download it
Mar Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 As promised 2 versions in the movie they interrupt after first verse with movie dialouge so first is full second edites without the dialouge 99 Revolution (full with movie dialouge) http://www.sharebeast.com/oub2fejcmyu6 99 Revolution (edited no dialouge) http://www.sharebeast.com/ca6zf6nq7w6o Much appreciated, thank you! I must be missing something, but I don't hear Too Much Too Soon at all. This is nowhere near as aggressive as that (not that I'm saying it's bad, I like it!).
angry_robot Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 But so much similarity of melodies worries me. BJ's exhausted? To be honest, I also worried about that but then I thought: what the hell, this man wrote 3 fucking albums (not one, not two but three!) so it's okay to hear some similarities sometimes I guess. Anyway that's what makes Green Day sound like Green Day.
basKT_case90 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Lyrics that i could work out: Verse: There's a struggle(?) in the air pummeled(?) in the streets, I'm going out of business early Race to bankruptcy, It's not 1 to 99 it's 99 to 1 (The next phrase I can't work out, but I hear the word 'Dollars' or "Daughters" in there) Chorus: 99 Revolutions tonight x2 Outro: Nine, Nine to One
ComaWhite Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 this song is so f****ing awesome. much better than the songs i heard so far
sampy Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 this song is so f****ing awesome. much better than the songs i heard so far hahah yeah, it feels like that more songs we hear, they just keep getting better and better! too epic
Drop Dead Hideous Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 song's awesome. Too bad it's set to release next year..
Cori Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I really like 99 Revolutions! It sounds like it's going to be an awesome song. I can't wait to hear the rest of it.
DecanoLP Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Sounds pretty good Maybe even too poppy in the refrain, but the gret instrumental made up for that.
justcause Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Lyrics that i could work out: Verse: There's a struggle(?) in the air pummeled(?) in the streets, I'm going out of business early Race to bankruptcy, It's not 1 to 99 it's 99 to 1 (The next phrase I can't work out, but I hear the word 'Dollars' or "Daughters" in there) Chorus: 99 Revolutions tonight x2 Outro: Nine, Nine to One I got - - - - - - - in the air, and a rumble in the streets, a going-out-of-business sale and a race to bankruptcy, it's not one to ninety-nine, it's ninety-nine to one, a common cause and a call to arms going out (to? with? ) our daughters and our sons
Ritz Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 The song sounds so great. Just digging the lyrics. It'll be quite a while when we get to listen the full song, I think but its really great !
Sixtrix Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I was so excited listening to that preview that I hit my face against the sliding doors at a gas station. It hurt like hell but was hilarious at the same time. Never been happier after hitting my face so hard
Sanity Loan Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 We posted this video on GDA - pretty good quality
Holly Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Sounding ace! After reading the comments about Too Much Too Soon I imagined it to sound exactly the same, but I doubt I would've even noticed if you guys hadn't mentioned it. Another song that I can envisage being amazing live. Although, I can't actually think of a Green Day song that wouldn't be incredible live, so maybe I should stop saying that about these new songs
basKT_case90 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I got - - - - - - - in the air, and a rumble in the streets, a going-out-of-business sale and a race to bankruptcy, it's not one to ninety-nine, it's ninety-nine to one, a common cause and a call to arms going out (to? with? ) our daughters and our sons Wow spot on!!!! I agree with your lyrics. And they make more sense. Although, if you listen to the other version someone posted here, in includes the first line. It's a bit distorted, but it sounds something like "There's a struggle in the air", or similar. The word before daughters and sons is way to distorted to make out still. hope someone has better ears, or memory if you actually were there Good ear mate!
WestboundSign! Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 This was the song I was looking forward to the most. Just because of its subject, its title and everything I've heard about it before. And what I can tell from listening to this short clip, I'm really impressed. I can't wait for the whole song in its amazing studio quality
valeriesername Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 You could tell at :33 that it's gonna go into the guitar from the Tre trailer. So at least we know/knew a little bit more of the song.
ollhjr Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 The last instrumental part of 99 Revolutions reminds me a bit of Chump's ending.
WrongWayToSalvation Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Verses sound like Ha Ha You're Dead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VYqnJVcQ7Q And I knew the preview from Tre and that audio from Soundcloud was 99 Revolutions! Also, is it just me or are these choruses really repetitious in these albums? Like more than usual for GD? To be honest, I also worried about that but then I thought: what the hell, this man wrote 3 fucking albums (not one, not two but three!) so it's okay to hear some similarities sometimes I guess. Anyway that's what makes Green Day sound like Green Day. But...he could have also decided to take the most the unique songs that were going to be on each album and just make one album. I'm not going to cut them some slack for reusing melodies just because they wrote a shit load of songs, they could have just as easily done what I said above and not have songs that sounded similar to past ones.
