DannyDirnt Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 What the hell are you thinking? This trilogy is the best since the toaster! Of course it's gonna have good sales!

DoodleBob Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 ...what? !UNO! doesn't have the hype that 21st CB had. 21st CB was preceded by American Idiot, an album that had 4 hut singles and was one of the best selling albums off the 00s. !UNO! is preceded by an album that had decent sales and only 2 hits. Neither of which were as successful as the hits on AI. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but just remember that Warning preceded American Idiot. Even though it's my favorite album of theirs, Warning wasn't a good selling album. Sometimes it doesn't always matter what album comes before, as long as the material is good.
iRun Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 So what's the single that comes out on Tuesday?
pucky Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 What the hell are you thinking? This trilogy is the best since the toaster! Of course it's gonna have good sales! Quality and sales are not usually related. Using that same reasoning, I suppose Justin Bieber is the best singer in the world taking into account all the money his albums make... Besides, it doesn't matter if you go mad at everyone who thinks the trilogy won't have good sales, it will probably be true. Do you think there will be a huge amount of people buying 3 albums in 5 months? With the crisis, the prices and all that? No, absolutely not. Just the great fans like us will do that. Furthermore, 21CB was a dissapointment for casual listeners who are suspicious about the trilogy thing. Of course, GD fans don't listen to this things, we will buy it no matter what. But I am sure it won't be as succesful as we would like. But anyway, not being a great succes in terms of sales does not mean that they aren't fucking great albums so relax and don't give it so much importance.
Sanity Loan Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 So what's the single that comes out on Tuesday? We don't know. If you read through the last couples pages, you would see that
1039SweetChildren Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 If it was gonna be a new single, I'm pretty sure they would have posted a single cover by now. I expect Kill the DJ unfortunately.
annaclaramd Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 If it was gonna be a new single, I'm pretty sure they would have posted a single cover by now. I expect Kill the DJ unfortunately. I was expecting Stay The Night, but Kill The DJ video is coming out in the same day, so I wouldn't be surprised :/
TheJedi Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I wrote a email to WB, and they said that Kill the DJ is not part of the Ultimate Box Set. So..... oh.. so the single that comes out on tuesday can't be Kill The DJ? AWESOME! i looooooove KTDJ, but since we already have that one, i want Stay The Night ^^
Sanity Loan Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 This is what I see happening: "Kill the DJ" being released September 4th. Totally makes sense with the music video that day as well. Then, "Stay the Night" will be released sometime around the release of ¡Uno! or early October as the next official single.
Jorik Van de Ven Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 oh.. so the single that comes out on tuesday can't be Kill The DJ? AWESOME! i looooooove KTDJ, but since we already have that one, i want Stay The Night ^^ Honestly, i think we get a single from DOS. Just think of it. We got Oh Love also 2 months before the release of UNO! Now the people who preordered the box set know that we got the first single: Oh Love, second september 4th and the third one on october 9th (this confuses me), but maybe they will change that? Like what they did with the date of the second single download!
Malleus Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I will believe it isn't Kill the DJ when it's not Kill the DJ, but until then I'm gonna stick with thinking it will be.

Annie, get your gun Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Sales? The albums aren't even out yet Ok, if this trilogy doesn't sell more than Dookie and American Idiot combined (YES, I believe is that awesome), then the people who bought those records turning them so popular doesn't appreciate the good music anymore.
Femme Gauche Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Guys, here's an idea! - let's wait a couplea days! Then we'll know! .
WrongWayToSalvation Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Sales? The albums aren't even out yet Ok, if this trilogy doesn't sell more than Dookie and American Idiot combined (YES, I believe is that awesome), then the people who bought those records turning them so popular doesn't appreciate the good music anymore. American Idiot and Dookie sold more than 15 million copies each. That means each album of the trilogy would need to sale roughly 5 million copies each. 21st CB barley sold 3 million worldwide, and it had the hype of AI supporting it.
The Pedestrian Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Here’s a thought: In Green Day’s contract the trilogy counts as one album, and rightly so when you think about it from a business point of view. I’m with people who say this isn’t going to be another dookie, because another dookie wouldn’t be possible in this day and age. That’s just the sad way the music industry has changed. But these albums do have to be thought of as one when moaning about sales. Uno might do pretty well, Dos and Tre might do alright. But when you add that together I’m sure the total sales will be more than respectable. Almost definitely better than 21CB. Warner is actually hyping them up pretty well so far, and that’s only going to increase in the coming months. Green Day is still one of the biggest bands alive. It will be OK. Now someone make this thread stop!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking the same thing, that maybe individually they might not "do so well" but considering they sort of are counted as one, the combined sales (already the base Green Day fans are buying three instead of one) could be much greater...
Soroush Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 yeah I have the OH LOVE Single now (germany) 1. Oh Love 2. American Idiot I don´t really understand why american idiot is the b-side o.O (It´s no live version) maybe because they want the people who has just known green day go for their previous materials too
Bundita Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I hope Stray Heart and Stay the Night would become official singles!
DannyDirnt Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 if good stuff equalled good sales, Snooki would not be famous. Yeah because she's funny and she's very beautiful
Femme Gauche Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Yeah because she's funny and she's very beautiful I repeat: If good stuff equalled sales... That kind of television is not good. it's highly entertaining, to many people, but that doesn't make it good. But. I'm not gonna lie; if KTDJ comes out on Tuesday in my inbox, I will be disappointed. But... It's still a kickass song and I'll be able to listen to it on repeat in iTunes. Which I can't do atm.

Some people see docummentaries about dogs in heat, I prefer watching people having fun and being crazy. And I totally hope Nighlife and Fuck Time are singles. They sound really good

They sound really good Haha, like that'll ever happen. Although I agree that it would be cool.
