No Rhyme Or Reason Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 leaked songs? Are they "expecting" them to be leaked? Surprise appearances? More secret shows? I think by leaked songs they mean they're going to "leak" the songs themselves. Like controlled leaks. All sounds intriguing!
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Kerrang! Thanks for posting...great article.
WestboundSign! Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Thank you so much for the scans! That was an awesome read, actually And I really like that picture as well!
Alan86 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Wow the reporter actually challenged him on where Green Day's tour t-shirts are made and how that affects jobs in America. I'll just assume this is all down to Warner and not the members of the band.
iRun Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I think by leaked songs they mean they're going to "leak" the songs themselves. Like controlled leaks. All sounds intriguing! EXACTLY what I was thinking.
Florence Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 GD also appear in the Kerrang Pandora comic! bad quality pic found on tumblr If someone could scan it, that would be perfect!
Requila Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 "Green Day's album ¡Uno! is out September 25 via Fearless" .. Fearless?
greendepent Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Wow the reporter actually challenged him on where Green Day's tour t-shirts are made and how that affects jobs in America. I'll just assume this is all down to Warner and not the members of the band. I think the same. I don't know why the reporter, or Kerrang itself put this out, when they should tell us more about the new records. Green Day are a big band now, they just care about the music and touring. The rest, merch-related, is going with Warner and, this case, the t-shit industry. I was expecting something new with these magazines, but looks there isn't much. But I see too that 99 Revolutions will be a huge song since there's many references about that.
petros Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Also why does that affect America? It has nothing to do with the band but also Warner is a big company it will look how to have as big profit as it can...
Heather. Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 These are the kind of hackneyed interviews that I was hoping would be put to rest with the trilogy.... not that I don't appreciate them challenging Green Day on where their shirts are made (although really, who can expect them to know or control a thing like that), but these records are supposed to be FUN and not weigh me down with the burdens of society like 21CB did. I think under normal circumstances I'd really appreciate a song like 99 Revolutions---I have whole playlists dedicated to protest music---but when they talk about this kind of stuff, they never sound very intelligent and it just comes across as cliche lefty stuff (even though I agree with all of it). I'd rather they just talk about the music.
jon18 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 NME and Kerrang speak about politics because they haven't heard the new songs. I want to read articles written by people who have listened to the new albums.
Tubbie Head Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Wow the reporter actually challenged him on where Green Day's tour t-shirts are made and how that affects jobs in America. I'll just assume this is all down to Warner and not the members of the band. I think that was my favourite part of Kerrang's interview XD I actually noticed it myself in my GD shirts. I wish they did something about it..
Karol Oliveira Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 My official T-shirt, that I bought from their merch stand, was made in Brazil and not Honduras. And like a few people here said, they couldn't know where their merch was being made, they have other stuff to worry about.
farley drexel hatcher Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 NME and Kerrang speak about politics because they haven't heard the new songs. I want to read articles written by people who have listened to the new albums. Um, both journalists from both magazines have heard the songs.
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 "This album was named after me, so of course it's gonna rock" Best part of Green Day album promotion is Tre quotes.
Cheap Escape Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 "American Idiot, an album that spent part of its duration (although not as much as many people seem to think) lobbing petrol bombs on the lawn of a White House then occupied by George W. Bush." I'm glad someone in the media finally understands that AI isn't just a political record.
Chiara Sabbatini Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I did not understand cause the "working class hero" is on Kerrang page...is not by NME? sorry if just posted this question..
Annie, get your gun Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 I did not understand cause the "working class hero" is on Kerrang page...is not by NME? sorry if just posted this question.. Yes, but in this thread there are both Kerrang! and NME articles.
Chiara Sabbatini Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Yes, but in this thread there are both Kerrang! and NME articles. yes yes but i mean this: http://www.kerrang.com/blog/newissue/ not about here that it's right both magazine
Sixtrix Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 GD also appear in the Kerrang Pandora comic! bad quality pic found on tumblr If someone could scan it, that would be perfect! I hope someone can post a good scan of that. It's too vague for me to read the balloons on the last frame
Trina Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Hmm. I'm not actually too happy with the Kerrang article. First off, we learn nothing new about the records, the music or Green Day, really. That seems double-y shit when the Editor or whomever was leading us on for ages and acting as if there would be huge news and news of the tour, etc. I assume they'll wait until closer to the release date and milk their interview some more. Maybe then they'll finally release some "new" info of which we'll probably know by then. It seems like the journalist is using this article to be able to for once write not a shitty, over-complimentary q&a with some terrible band but instead be able to write what he thinks is a thought-provoking piece. I don't have a problem with that in itself but I think he definitely went about it in the wrong way. It's not really fair on Green Day. Just because their socially conscious doesn't mean you shouldn't bother plugging their album at all in their own interview!! - It is a music magazine after all so there should be a bit more emphasis. Or at least more quotes from the band and less commentary from the journo. Y'know it's not very socially conscious of Kerrang to drag out an interview with a bigger band over several issues to get more non-regulars to buy it either! If people are forward and socially, environmentally, economically and politically conscious and do a lot to try and help, you shouldn't try and get one over on them or pick and search for wrongs. No-one's perfect and it just seems like a bit of a "A-ha! Caught-cha!" about the t-shirt production. A mention to them would have been fine, there was no need to dedicate so much of the article to it, really. Also, I really didn't like the statement about Oakland being work-shy and I really, really don't think the Green Day guys would be too happy with that either. Also the Obama comment was a bit odd. He's dealing with the past's mistakes. Also, what's the thing about Uno being distributed via Fearless? I assume that's a record label. I wonder why Reprise isn't distributing it. Maybe they don't do intl. anymore?! ...I'm sure I'll scroll up after posting this and find my answer.
