DecanoLP Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 What the fuck is wrong with you people attacking the ones that don't like the song? Everyone is allowed to state his opinion here and it's not like Green Day is holy and must not get criticized. This is so pissing me off, wow....! Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of the song either. I didn't expect much after listening to the live recording, but this is at the most just an average song. Sure, the chorus is very catchy and I like Billie's vocal harmonies there. The solo is okay too, but the rest is boring. The opening chords and the verses bore me to death and repeating the first verse at the end makes it too long I'm still looking forward to Uno
Schlappy Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 you can tell he learned a lot from being on Broadway
TheBasketcase Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I love it now! For the people who can't get used To it just relate the lyrics to your life and you will love it! Oh and It also kinda Reminds me of homecoming *page own *
Johnny Higher Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Yeah... the lyrics aren't the best ever, but there are some parts that do get me "Old story, same old story"... none of it makes any sense, but it still touches me The first time I listened to it and he said "losers and choosers" I definitely thought he said "losers and Jesus" The Same ! And I don't know why XD
solongfromthestars Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I actually like this a lot better than what I've heard of Kill the DJ (assuming that's the song in the Uno trailer). I'm sure there's going to be even greater songs on the trilogy though, even though I do really love this song way more than I expected to.
Heather. Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Because Jesus of Suburbia was such a flop? I'm not talking about Green Day fans appreciation, I'm just talking about mainstream radio play. And there was a radio cut for JOS that was made 5 minutes or so, and that song didn't perform as well as a single as it deserved to.
Stephanie. Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 The only reason this won't be a radio hit is because it's 5 minutes. But No Doubt's new single is 6 minutes, so at least we're not as screwed as they are, the dumbfucks I just heard it on the radio and they said that they were going to play it again in another hour...
Sarahnade Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Reading all these negative comments is starting to piss me off. I think everyone is forgetting that not every song has to be some colossal masterpiece. There is a place in this world for songs that don't make your head spin. Yes, this song is not the greatest Green Day song ever created, but it's a good song, and if you got any sort of joy listening to this song, then they've done their job.
Ritz Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 already in love with #ohlove. Hashtag whatever too much twitter haha :whistles:
It's Splash Time Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I may need a gif of Andres fangirl flailing to express my emotions on the song.
Starred Thoughts Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I love the gorgeous simplicity of this song. Lyrically it reminds me of the general feel of 1039/Smooth and Kerplunk, but obviously there is a more developed sound. I am also in love with the solo. It's great when the guitar just does its own thing <3
La's Letterbomb Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 So fucking excited about the music video now too!! and I'm glad they had a funky lyric video with it I like to watch things when listening to music, I am really happy about this, Green Day, still keeping it fresh!
Heather. Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I just heard it on the radio and they said that they were going to play it again in another hour... I didn't mean to suggest it WONT be a radio hit, I'm just saying the length of it could be the only reason. Because it's good enough to be a hit otherwise. What radio station did you hear it on? I have been checking every damn one in NY, and I still haven't found it.
Gbstr Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 If you ask me,the song's a really good Rock song It just doesn't sound like Green Day's older songs but let's just face the truth,IT IS GREEN DAY! It's an epic song!!! piece of advice:Blow up the speakers and then listen to the song,I'd bet it'll grow on ya
beejeezee Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I may need a gif of Andres fangirl flailing to express my emotions on the song. do we actually have that?
PaulS Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Absolutely. I hear no auto tune and its not needed anyway. He can and does sing like a motherfucker. I hear echo and reverb, and augmentation. Look, I've been a fan for 18 years now, but this simple isn't true. Billie Joe's voice is not some untouchable thing; it's imperfect, and it's okay to admit that. Many of the best artists are average singers on a technical level, and there are a bunch of songs Billie can't sing live. On the rare occasions they've played Whatshername, it has been waaayy flat. 21 Guns frequently sounded out of tune until he changed one specific note, and it's no coincidence it's the falsetto chorus note that was clearly adjusted in the studio. I love Green Day. I love almost all their songs. I love the way his voice sounds; all the inflections and mannerisms that go into making it his. That doesn't mean he's a perfect singer, or that this isn't autotuned. He's not. It is.
Ritz Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Those who didn't like it can go fuck themselves. Whatever. Everyone has different tastes and opinions -_-
perfectpitchrob Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 What is with the claims of auto-tune? I don't hear any of it. Compare this to "Church on Sunday's" final chorus which certainly has some pitch correction (even though I love the song). Oh Love seems to be free of that. That falsetto in the bridge seems at most like it was spliced in, but even then, remember BJ had broadway vocal training two years ago, so that may be why the vocals are cleaner. Regardless, I like it. It reminds me of Cheep Trick meets AC/DC meets The Who, although I still think that we'll have to wait for "let yourself go" and/or "Kill the DJ" before non-green day fans realize this really is a new sound they're aiming for.

That's going to be true for most songs. People each have their own expectations of what they want a Green Day song to be. I respect your point of view and that we disagree. I just get irritated at the people who don't like it, but then go out of their way to complete disrespect the band for it. Anyone has the right to voice their disapproval and everyone else has the right to disagree.
farley drexel hatcher Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Trendng in the UK, didn't even look for it so it was a nice surprise
Nikkilite Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I know this aint gonna be my favorite, but its SO FUCKING AMAZING ANYWAYS!!!!! Best birthday gift EVER!!
Ritz Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 The funky solo is what I like. That's gonna be my ringtone for sure !
Trina Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Oh and Billie Joe's voice sounds absolutely incredible. His voice has developed so much in recent years, especially with AI on B'way. :3
