Elena Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 it's just WOOOOOOOOOW ...haha i'm soo mean, i listened to it and danced happily and told my parents how awesome it is while my mom isn't allowed to listen to it yet, cos she'll get it as a birthday present ...and i'll probably wake her up with this song in the middle of the night while screaming "HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAAAAAAAY!!!"
Sanity Loan Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 [quote name=The Guy called Kill ' timestamp='1342449329' post='4793772] People complaining about the lyrics making no sense, the man who wrote this song also wrote the lyrics "You're a sacrificial suicide, like a dog that's been sodomized." You really shouldn't be surprised by now..... That line makes perfect sense and it's awesome.
TheJedi Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Who pissed in your cornflakes? this. SOOOOO TIRED OF THE BAD COMMENTS. if you say Billie sounds whiny, then listen to yourselves. so fucking annoying. THE SONG IS AMAZING and if you say the song lyrics makes no sense.. maybe it's 'cause Billie wants everyone to find their own meaning of the song. i understand the lyrics perfectly and they're amazing. this song was more amazing than what i thought it would be. i am very happy with it
Red Lights Flash Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I really love it! Everything sounds super tight! Green Day's back! Just two downsides, wtf autotune on the high notes and the ending kinda drags on a little.
captain peroxide Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Guys, this is basically the Know Your Enemy of this record. Catchy as fuck song, even if there's not much going on lyrically or musically.
Sarahnade Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I absolutely love it! For everyone complaining about it not being very upbeat, think about the fact that it's the last track on ¡Uno! I think it definitely makes sense as the ending track. Whether or not it was a good choice for a first single doesn't matter to me though. I think it works, and I think it's a great song. Also- the thought of this song live gives me chills.
Danish Idiot Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Personally, I loved this song from the first listen. Think it's amazing.
Clockwise Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 The song is incredible. I can't even describe how it makes me feel. People have brought up the lyrics as an issue, but they clicked and related right away for me. I love the simplicity, how fun, and how strong it is at the same time. Although I had no real issue with 21CB's production, everything just sounds much better in this song. A mixed reaction is expected, and people always take it too far. But whatever, I'm super fucking excited for the album, and extremely happy we've got a new Green Day song.
beejeezee Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 After 10 seconds of listening to it, my hands started shaking and I started to cry, hahah. Well it's official now, the new Green Day era has started! I'm speechless, this song is so fucking amazing. I love it, can't wait to see the music video. I'm so happy right now. I second this. An hour and I still got butterflies in my stomach.
AndyArmstrong Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I love Billie Joe's voice here, but idk about the chorus, I'm not that into it. But still, I know I'll be into it & I love Green Day so much!
Riotgrrl_GD Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I’m ecstatic that we are getting new music from the boys! That being said, I’m hoping for more out of the rest of the album. I’m no “casual listener” or “hater,” be sure. I’m VERY happy they seem to have opted for personal lyrics as I was getting a bit burnt out on making political statements. There will never be another Dookie or Nimrod, but I’m not looking for one. I’m open to whatever the next chapter is. As long as they are honest and steadfast in their pursuit of artistic expression I will support them 100%. That doesn’t mean that I have to think the song is amazing just because it’s new. I’m super excited for new music (read: TOUR!) but this is not “the best song I’ve ever heard, OMG, in tears, exploding ovaries” material.
Johnny Higher Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 The right lyrics : Oh love, oh love Won't you rain on me tonight Oh life, oh life Please don't pass me by Don't stop, don't stop Don't stop when the red lights flash Oh ride, free ride Won't you take me close to you Far away, far away Waste away tonight I'm wearing my heart on a noose Far away, far away Waste away tonight Tonight my heart's on the loose Oh lights and action I just can't be satisfied Oh losers and choosers Won't you please hold on my life Oh hours and hours Like the dog years of the day Old story same old story Won't you see the light of day Far away, far away Waste away tonight I'm wearing my heart on a noose Far away, far away Waste away tonight Tonight my heart's on the loose Talk myself out of feeling Talk my way out of control Talk myself out of falling in love Falling in love with you Oh love, oh love Won't your rain on me tonight Oh ride, free ride Won't you take me close to you Far away, far away Waste away tonight I'm wearing my heart on a noose Far away, far away Waste away tonight Tonight my heart's on the loose
Sanity Loan Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 NEWS FLASH FOR EVERYONE: Every song today has some form of pitch correction
Fuzz Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Guys, this is basically the Know Your Enemy of this record. Catchy as fuck song, even if there's not much going on lyrically or musically. Except this one is good.
WestboundSign! Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I really didn't think there would be this much hate about "Oh Love". I expected a few people not to like it.. but some people seem to be really in disgust. Well, whatever. Everybody's got a different music taste. I'm nearly exploding from happiness and love about / for this song right now! Except this one is good. So, so, so TRUE!
Nzap Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I really love it! Everything sounds super tight! Green Day's back! Just two downsides, wtf autotune on the high notes and the ending kinda drags on a little. I thought the ending was short It just like, ended before what I would have thought to be the last "Tonight my heart's on the loose"
Lindsay Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 It's so good. My god. Exceeded my expectations. I am nothing but THRILLED for Uno right now. I got chills listening to it for the first time.
Cameron. Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I like the song but it should have stayed a deep cut Replaying anyways. shrug.
pucky Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 That line makes perfect sense and it's awesome. What would be the meaning? I know it's off-topic, but I hate not being able to get the meaning of song lines, and this is one that I can't get.
Sanity Loan Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I like the song but it should have stayed a deep cut "Deep cut" is a relative term. You can't classify it as that yet because you haven't heard the rest of ¡Uno!
Sam.. Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I really love the song and it's a lot better than what I expected as I wasn't a fan of the Red7 version. But I think it was a really poor choice for a first single. Not that it matters a whole lot though Can't wait for the albums because I know that there's a reason "Oh Love" is the last song on the album.
Cameron. Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 "Deep cut" is a relative term. You can't classify it as that yet because you haven't heard the rest of ¡Uno! Yes that is 100% true... you know what i mean though yes?
Heather. Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Guys, this is basically the Know Your Enemy of this record. Catchy as fuck song, even if there's not much going on lyrically or musically. Yes, except I don't hate this song I do feel like there's a bit more climax to this one. I have to say I love it a lot, but the opening chords bore me to death... it's like I have to remind myself that the best is coming. It kicks in fast enough, but there's this unfortunate part of me that never wants to START listening to the song again, I just want to be IN it. It's a very strange relationship I'm developing with the song. I think it's one of their best songs already, but I'm having a rough time with it
Comic Sans Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Guys, this is basically the Know Your Enemy of this record. Catchy as fuck song, even if there's not much going on lyrically or musically. Absolutely agree.
Pallidpallas Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I am not complaining at all. My mind is unblown but im happy. This song is exactly what I expected, based on the amateur recordings on YouTube. So I'm not disappointed. It's a gorgeous song, and BJ has never sounded so awesome. The spare simple structure and arrangement is a slap in the face wake up call to the world who was writing the band off as a bloated opera factory. Green Day is still a creative powerhouse, and as vital as ever. That said, I can't wait for a song that tears shit up. I'm kinda over love songs lol
