Bastard of 1967 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 since billie told us the actual meaning of Oh Love i think its a perfect song which leads to Dos..(crotch area ) billie repeats the line "Tonight my heart's on the loose" several times at the end..with this song we get in the mood to party (what Dos is supposed to be, a huge party) Yep! I look at it kinda like a pit bull straining against its chain (the "noose" BJ is talking about), until he breaks free at the end of the song and heads into the bender that we expect will be Dos.

GuitarPunk94 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 thankx to the girl who called the radio station "FFH" today around 20.15 i dont listen to the radio normally and i dont eat meal at this time normally so this was kinda like fortune exactly in the 5 minutes when i was in the kitchen the song was played (they cutted some parts after the solo)..this was the first time i heard the new single on the radio, hope this will happen more often now in future

So hopefully they will pick it up again when that has been released. Or is it because Oh Love is not announced as the official single in all countries? I am a bit confused about that. In Poland you can hear Oh Love only on one radio station which play only rock and it's avaliable only in big cities. That's why I thank God that my new stereo system plays songs from USB Flash.

gmcloughlin Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 It's got to be one of the easiest Green Day songs I've ever taught myself on guitar.... bar the solo. Haven't figured that out yet Ok after a few days of letting it sink in properly and getting over the whole "OMG Green Day actually have a new song out!!" state of mind, I've finally got my own review of Oh Love: Its a decent song, I really like the build up to the whole band entering, followed by a catchy chorus and a pretty class bridge that leads into a really cool solo. I like the fact that after all that building up it goes back to just the guitar like the intro. On the other hand, I think I was expecting something more of a climax in the song. That's probably because my expectations were so high after waiting so long for a new Green Day single. I don't even know what exactly I was expecting, it was just I think I wanted it to be more memorable to normal radio listeners than it is. The other thing that slightly annoys me is that sometimes on the high note in the chorus, it sounds like Billie's voice has been.... I dunno what really, tampered with is the only phrase that comes to mind. It just doesn't sound natural to me, maybe he's just straining on a high note, but that just stood out to me the first time I heard it. So ya, I'm not entirely in love with Oh Love just yet, I'd say that'll happen when I hear it live for myself, but it is definitely a better first single than KYE was

Ah well, I'll probably get it anyway just because I like to own everything. I'm glad iTunes are releasing it in the UK tomorrow, far better than the August date we were speculating. I've already downloaded it from youtube cause I neeeeeded it on my iPod, but I can't not buy it as well when it comes to Green Day.
