Finally had the chance to listen to it a decent amount. It's grown on me, but it's still kind of disappointing. Like others said, I was waiting for a build-up type thing, but then it just fell flat. I think a lot of it has to do with the song being 5 minutes, if it was cut down to 3 or so I think it wouldn't give off the "drags on" feeling. That being said, it's certainly not my least favorite GD song, and hell, there's still 3 albums worth of songs I can enjoy.

Also, about the iTunes thing, (currently #69 on iTunes; #11 on Alternative) don't forget too - once the video's released it'll help to bump it up a few. The thing is, if you scroll through the top singles, there's hardly any rock bands on there besides the Killers, No Doubt, and Train.

So fucking true. And lbr, Train isn't a rock band, they're played (way too often) on pop radio. And with rock radio dying ... it's sad.

Any small hint on a date for Kill the DJ so far? Maybe a timeframe?

Trust Kerrang not to even have a date for the single they're showing off about. :P

Wasn't it 13rd August? Or did I mix things up? Wow I feel like a useless piece of crap now. I can't just arrange every dates and things in my head. It's like studying history!

ur not alone  for me its the same

13th Aug new single? 14th Aug Oh Love EP (US only?!) 20th Aug Uk only single?! :runaround:

imo Reprise/Warner did a bad job till now in advertising the new stuff enough..thats also why Oh Love is only ~50th place on iTunes charts..there is no advertisement on the main page of iTunes like with other new single releases

and even one of the most famous and popular radio station in the south-west area of Germany didnt even know about GDs new single :S

Agree with everything. And also, you gave me new info. I didn't know about the UK only single.

They kind of stopped playing Oh Love on the radio here. I hope it has to do with the video not being released yet.

So hopefully they will pick it up again when that has been released. Or is it because Oh Love is not announced as the official single in all countries?

I am a bit confused about that.

I've noticed before that Spotify seems quite slow to add new songs unless they're specifically promoted or available early on Spotify.

I don't think we have to be concerned about the sales yet, it's a very early single of possibly very much singles and the video isn't ready yet.

Today I was listening to Warning and I instantly thought that Oh Love has really "ordinary" lyrics compared to the old songs.

I hope that the rest of the record(s) will be different in terms of lyrics, because I love the new sound, and these could be numbered among Green Day's best records.

That fact that it's not the single in all countries shouldn't mean anything when it comes to radio play. In Britain the offspring single "days go by" is being played on the radio a lot even though it's the US single. It's actually being played more than the UK single so maybe once Oh Love appears the alternative charts at the end of the week it's radio play will pick up again?

Green Day Rumors posted this on twitter: "Wal-Mart is going to be exclusively releasing an Oh Love EP on August 14th! Not sure what tracks this will include. Funny it's at Wal-Mart.."

So, I looked for it on Walmart's website and found it: http://www.walmart.com/ip/21270362

Anyone else find it strange that it's exclusively at WALMART?

It's a little strange because of the feud with 21st Century Breakdown and the censorship, but from a marketing perspective with Walmart being the largest retailer in the states, it's a no brainer for the label to try to make a deal with them for the new albums. With an ambitious project like this, their goal is obviously to move as many copies as possible.

With the content of the albums, let's hope they didn't make a deal to censor the records for a Walmart-friendly clientele.

since billie told us the actual meaning of Oh Love i think its a perfect song which leads to Dos..(crotch area :D )

billie repeats the line "Tonight my heart's on the loose" several times at the end..with this song we get in the mood to party (what Dos is supposed to be, a huge party)
