another single? wait WHAT!? I think I missed something again. Sorry, but it's very hard for me to keep track of everything.

There's a single being released on August 13th, there was a link posted saying itunes UK wouldn't have Oh Love until August 20th so in that case the rest of the world would have 2 singles before the UK got 1.

I'm guessing "Let yourself go", "kill the DJ" or "stay the night" because they're the songs off iUNO! that're going to have videos.

And also, if I run downstairs and get a pair of 3D glasses from the cinema, will they work at making the video 3D?

Most computer monitors can't display 3D, no matter what glasses you wear. Only newer, 120hz screens do it.

Could someone tell me if there's actually anything in the video that's not in the text article? No point in me getting all bummed out about not being able to see it if there's not really anything else to see :P

Just to confirm that the video is, literally word for word, what's in the article itself. Nothing else at all, so don't feel too bad about not being able to see it :)

I'm sorry if this has been discussed already, but I just got back into town and don't have time to read through 32 pages. I went to 2 of the secret shows, and I remember this song (loved it both times I saw/heard it live), but wasn't this the "joleen" song? As soon as I heard this song yesterday morning, I thought the chorus was going to be "joleen, joleen, joleen, joleen" instead of "far away, far away, etc." Either it changed, or i'm just crazy.

I pray for the next single to be Stay the night. It has such an energy, and is such a good song, mixing the old and new sound of GD that it would beat the shit out of all the people that think that GD should break up just because they didn't like Oh Love (which I also think is a weak single, but there's no point in discrediting the whole trilogy for just one song).

Do you want people to lie and say it's the greatest song since Stairway to Heaven simply because it's the first single since 21CB? I'm excited to see the band back at it, but a shit song is a shit song, and the more I listen to this, the more I'm convinced it's a shit song. Doesn't mean I like Green Day any less. I love the Foo Fighters, love the hell out of them, but they've had some really fucking awful songs. Same with Queen, which is actually my favorite band--not GD. I can say without much doubt that "Action This Day," "Staying Power," "Back Chat," "Dancer," and especially "Body Language" all reside on the list of the 25 worst songs ever made, but that doesn't make me any less of a Queen fan. The same logic allows me to say that "Oh Love" is a shitty, Autotuned, wandering mess of a song without precluding my happiness at seeing new albums coming out.

You didn't get my point there, I don't mean that this has to be greatest song since Stairway to Heaven, because it's not. And it's not even the best Green day song ever written. My point was that when I read this thread and all that bashing, I got a feeling that disliking Oh Love is bigger trend than the fact that Green Day is back. It's really nice to see that you clearly can describe your opinion about this new song, but still say that you're glad that the band's back. :) I'll give you a one nice Like-click for that. You know, that was just how I felt after reading all that stuff. Like I said, people having their own opinions is great and it doesn't impact my life anyhow if some fan here doesn't like the song. My point was that even if you don't like the song, you can still be happy about that they're back, but it felt like some people forgot that and there was pretty depressing atmosphere.

Thank you and good night!

This was on Radio “Pile Of Crap” 1 today:

"That is new from Green Day, it’s called Oh Love. Its actually their US single, the first UK single is gonna be called Kill The DJ, which they might want to do after I say “that’s rubbish”..... "

That explains a lot. Judging by the the ripping apart they got, I’m kind of glad it’s not a UK single. Seems like it would have fallen flat on its arse if it had...

Hmmm interesting ... apparently Zane Lowe said yesterday that they were getting the exclusive first play of 'green day's new UK single, not 'oh love' so maybe it's true

The fact that they're back is irrelevant to the discussion of the song…

There's no need for them to be positive about anything if that's not how they feel, if they don't like the song they can say that without having to resort to "yay they're back" just to say something positive to satisfy your need to read that. If bashing the song would be the biggest trend in this thread (which it isn't) we, and green day, would just have to deal with that, there's no need to hide behind an irrelevant positive feeling when you just want to express a negative one.

Thanks for sharing. The UK single mystery has been solved; I can't wait to hear "Kill the DJ."

 So we don't get Oh Love, we have to wait until the release of UNO before we can blast it through a stereo? Does that mean anyone outside the UK won't get Kill The DJ as a single?

I can't even open an itunes account. I'm gonna buy it of spotify though, whenever it comes out there.

Maybe the plan for the UK's single will be revealed in Kerrangs interview tomorrow.

So maybe we'll get something like 2 singles each depending on which one's they think will do well in each country?

If you're wanting to purchase the singles from the iTunes store, there are ways to trick it into thinking you're in another country. Then, if you buy an iTunes card/code from that country, you could purchase "Oh Love" or "Kill the DJ."

Just throwing that out there.

So then I wonder if the new single on the 13th might be Kill the DJ for the US? Or maybe a completely different single?

Posted

Please don't tell me they're taking the different singles in different countries route! That was a huge flaw in 21CB's marketing strategy, and I hoped they wouldn't repeat the mistake. =/

Asked for confirmation about the UK single or why Oh Love isn't on iTunes. We'll post something once we hear back.

I'm noticing the lyrics a bit more now but they're a bit too vague for me.

Do you have the date for when the single is out on spotify?

i'm a little iffy with the song. i think subconsciously i'm comparing it to 21CB but the song sounds different then the ones on the album...

the song will grow on me, i just need to get into the right mindset. plus the beat is catchy!

Different singles in different countries? Is there really a point to that? And do they really do psychological decisions that say "British would like Kill the DJ, Americans would like Oh Love"?? WTF.

Seems daft. Just put them all out and we'll decide for ourselves
