that is the kind of ballad that i like... it's much better than any other ballad from their last 2 albuns... without accoustic (boring) guitars... it's simple and straight to the point...

i was thinking this afternoon and comparing it to the last ballads that green day had done... boulevard, are we the waiting, extraordinary girl, wake me up, before the lobotomy, last night on earth, restless heart syndrome, 21 guns and see the light.. this song is a way better than that songs... and i'm not saying all that other songs are bad... i like most of them but... this one sounds so clear... it's catchy... that kind of music that gives you goosebumps...

i don't care if it is a right single to start... and for the haters...good for you all that keep disliking Green Day new songs... you are losing all the fun and happiness that you can get with this amazing band that GD really is...

now i really can't wait for the release of these new albuns... and i'm on countdown for their first upcoming show...just one more month and the guys will be on stage again!!

september is coming!!!

As sure as you will get people on a band's forum who don't respond well to their new material, you will get those who moan about those who don't respond well to their new material. We all have different opinions yadda yadda yadda but I've seen this happen several times for different bands and I cannot for the life of me empathise with people who have this concern. Why would you take the criticism of the song so personally as to moan that there's negative opinions at all?

I really love this song!! It's so different but it's so Green Day at the same time. I've already heard it on the radio a few times. And they're playing the full version, not a radio edit. I really don't like radio edits. Sometimes it seems like they're edited in the strangest parts of songs. On one local station they start Boulevard of Broken Dreams a few seconds before Billie Joe starts to sing. I just sounds awkward.

I loved this song the first time I heard it this morning and I'm falling more and more in love with it with each listen. I can't describe how excited I am for these albums!!

Not really feeling it. Hopefully it will grow on me or at least I'll like the rest of the album(s).

I don't hear it either. Autotune's obvious in a lot of other bad artists, for example Rebecca Black, but I don't feel there's any obvious, "blatant" autotune in this.

Too lazy to read thru 25 pages of posts. But if there was pitch correction it seems appropriate. It's not like T-Pain autotune. It doesn't sound ridiculous. And Billie's voice is pretty amazing (when it's in shape and he's not screaming at full volume 7 nights a week.)

Honestly their singles have never been their strongest songs. This is much stronger than "Know Your Enemy" in my opinion. And i think it's fucking solid. It may not be my favorite thing off the album, but they took a relatively simple song and gave it a backbone. It really has a lot more meat to it than it did on the red 7 recordings, and i am impressed with that.

And really, Billie has always sung like he has a mouthful of shit.

In any event, not all Green Day songs have hit me as amazing right off the bat. Not all of the singles have been awesome. I'm not one of those people that says that the song is "amazing" just because it's GREEN DAY. But this one is a winner, in my book. I'm fucking psyched on it right now.

I love the song on my stereo, sounds alot better.

I've thus far only listened to it on my shitty computer speakers, I wouldn't be surprised if I liked it more on a better system.

3D glasses really make it a lot more fun to watch.

Oh and hubby said it was fine. High praise from him!

My father said Billie sounded like the guy from Rascal Flatts . Disowning him.

That was insanely crazy because those were my EXACT thoughts. I've never been a fan of some of their first singles--"Warning", "Know Your Enemy"--and like you said, I think it's amazing as well just because it is Green Day, but I know there will be at least three songs on UNO that will be much better than this...

The Mp4 version of the song sounds great. That clip on youtube makes the instruments and vocals sound like shit.

The song is good but nothing like what I was expecting it to be, it just sounds like somethings missing. I'm sure the album will be awesome though.

Yep, I can't be too bummed that I don't want to court and marry 1 out of 36 new songs we're gonna get. But I think it'll do the job just fine until Sept. 25!

I expected a much more garage-ish sound. Not as polished as came out, but it'll grow on me.

This one is definitely a grower for me. The after the first listen I was like 'Ok..', but then I noticed that I had the chorus stuck on my head, just after one listen, cause I think it's a very catchy chorus. The song as a whole is definitely different from whatever I might have been expecting, and that's one of the things I really liked, that even if it's different from the usual Green Day song, it sounds new and fresh. And after 12682476 listens throughout the day, I've fallen in love, and can't wait to see what the rest of "¡One!" sounds like.

The song is even better after listening to it just on my iPod through my headphones. Me gusta. Really looking forward to the rest of Uno. :)

Warning wasn't the first single. Minority was. Then Warning, Waiting, Macy's Day Parade. WARNING would have been a bad first single. Too drastic of a change from Nimrod.

Just bought it off amazon for 25¢

Be interesting to see if the rest of the album/albums will be in a similar style to Oh Love, I guess we'll have to wait :) i did find the single quite catchy and mellow, good song :)

It's just beautiful to think that somewhere out there is a kid (or grown-up ;) ) who has never heard Green Day before, and they fall in love with this song, and unknowingly stumble into the great songs and albums of the past 20 years. I'm so jealous of them!

I'm not really that into it. It's sounds radio friendly though....which is good I guess. I never like GDs first singles though :P

Wow, it really is. I think we all remember being that kid.

Would you consider this song power pop? I feel like the definition of power pop isn't very clear.

I was that kid a year ago March, and it was an amazing moment. :D

The LA Times "review" of Oh Love mentions that the guitar solo is reminiscent of Brian May or Chuck Berry. I don't pretend to know anything about recognizing guitar skills and solos (I hear people saying Billie Joe is a completely average under-skilled guitar player, and plenty others saying he's a veritable virtuoso, he just doesn't feel the need to show it off...I'm sure he's somewhere in the middle), but I think the whole guitar vibe they're describing is why I personally love this song so much--it DOES remind me of Queen, and it has felt that way to me from the moment I first heard the Red7 version months ago. So even if Billie Joe is no Brian May, he's sufficiently entertained me in the same way, and I do think the guitar parts have captured that glorious essence of Queen.

If Green Day wrote "You Shook Me All Night Long" and that was the single, would everyone hate that?
