There is a way to buy Oh Love on Itunes. Search "Green Day" and click on the "Green Day" artist button. Then Click on "See All Albums". Instead of clicking on the name of the single, just click buy. It's what worked for me  :D

I literally woke up before the song started on 105LIVE in my town and I heard the intro and I started screaming. I probably woke up my family and pissed them off at 610am. hahaha.

On several levels. Nice catch.

Ok so can we all agree now that Oh Love is an audio-based description of one hell of a huge orgasm?

He did tell us this actually

Does anyone else think 'don't stop when the red lights flash' could mean basically no matter what happens, life needs to carry on

I think of it from that warning behind a School Bus. haha.

Cause here in the bay most buses have that... Maybe that's where Billie got that title and line o:

NO I CAN'T - hurry the f*** up Apple! :)

You have right! It's not that much different.. But my point is that is no reason to be scared of change in their sound.. They'll be awesome!

Well, I don't think people is really scared of a change in their sound. That would be stupid. They always change between albums. Though you get a point in this being a really great change.

As I'm thinking about it, something else has changed with this one -- Green Day's song structure itself. Most of us aren't accustomed at all to hearing *nothing* intermixed with the guitars, vocals, or whatever part of the song we're listening to at the moment. For the nearly 25 years that Green Day has been making music, there's always been some background, some distraction, woven into the music to fill those spaces in between the highlights. It could be a growling guitar, an echo of Tre's last cymbals or snare hit, a sustained note in Mike's bass line, even an extended vocal from Billie. Always something. Now, on Oh Love, we get clean, precise instruments and crisp vocals, punctuated by SILENCE. It's not just Billie taking more control over what his voice is doing -- it's Mike knowing when to push the bass line and when to back off, it's Tre knowing when to keep that kit QUIET, and it's Rob behind the console knowing when to let the band's music go explosive and when to shut it up. We hear that silence now as part of the song structure itself, and it actually adds meaning to the music. It's nothing like what Green Day has done before (well, ok, maybe there's a hint of it at the very end of "Peacemaker"), it is going to take some getting used to, and the more and more I think about it, the more I'm finding that I fucking LOVE it.

Absolutely. One thing I love -- even the new faces here who joined just to tell us how much they hate the new song -- they're new faces here and we need to remember to say "Welcome aboard, y'all!". So without further delay:

HOWW-DEE!!

How was that?

Anyway - with 36 more tracks still to come off the Trelogy I have a feeling there's going to be something for any listening preference in there. Even if you don't like how Oh Love was written or arranged, don't give up -- love it or hate it, the best is still to come!

I have pretty much the same opinion as you for this song. I get a chill every time i here those four or five strikes that lead into the chorus.

It's only downside is that it needs another guitar in it but other than that it's great!

Oh... one more thing. Why do you spell Trilogy like Trelogy? If it's a twist on Tre Cool then that awesome but it just bugs me slightly.

That's crazy that we get it over a month after America! Seems pretty odd.

When we first found out there were going to be 3 albums people thought it would be fun to call it a trelogy- it stuck for some people, it's not something you should get annoyed at

I don't see why people is so affraid of over-analysing. Isn't it fun? Then go, you know you want to!

Over-analysing is typical for GDC. We all can feel like the bigest minds or James Bond :ninja:

I hate to say this, but my first listen through left me felling slightly underwhelmed. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't what I was hearing. However now having listened to it on repeat about twenty times I definately feel 'Oh Love' is a grower. It certainly has on me anyway. I felt that the song was quite long and took too long to go anywhere, and was a bit repetitive. Now I can definately say that I think repetitive was a wrong assesment and catchy is the right one. I have feeling that is going to be one of those songs that get stuck in your head. I still have slightly mixed feelings on the lyrics in the song. Some of the lyrics I think are just brilliant and so clever like 'oh life, please don't pass me by, don't stop when the red light flash'. I love these lines and the different interpretations, though there are few that I'm not so keen on. Then again sometimes the more you listen to a song, the more you get from the lyrics. I love the bits of the song when the whole band kicks in and the ending. Billie's falsetto is a lovely touch too. So looking at what I've written there is actually alot I love about this song already which is a good sign. :D

Gotta say I love it. Love the production especially how you can hear every instrument so clearly, really digging tre's drum sound and billies "yeah". This wasnt even one of my favourites from the tunes we have heard live versions of already. So just imagine whats yet to come. Oooh baby baby its jizz time.

First i had mixed reactions, but now I think it's a good song. Can't wait for the other songs!

Has anyone in the NYC/NJ area heard it on the radio? I've been listening all day to pop/rock stations and nothing... :(

Also, for those who have heard it... what's the radio edit like?

Yeah. I heard it in south jersey here today, on 104 i think. It starts right when Billie says oh love, skips intro

My mom liked it a lot, and my dad really enjoyed it, and kept saying how awesome it was. He spotted what he calls some 'irish' influence in there, which I'm not sure has been mentioned. Sort of the same thing that was capitalized on in Minority and used in 21CB, I guess. Ahh, I'm so glad they're back. Life's great.

When the hell is this coming to the UK iTunes? :(

I really have to say, everybody has their own opinion, but reading this thread and people bashing the song makes me pretty sad. Really. Like I said after listening the song for the first time, my hands started to shake and tears of joy were dropping down on my cheeks. I was so excited and happy. It's so, so nice to hear new material after so long time and I'm pretty pumped up because this (pretty disliked) song is the beginning of something new, big and fresh. Why can't people be happy about this? This is your favorite band. You don't have to like all of their songs but c'mon, reading all of that "this song sucks/fucking autotune/lyrics doesn't make sense/lame/too long" whining is really depressing. For me what sucks is to read that kind of shit.

Personally, I love this song already, and I can't wait to see the music video. It's so nice that our guys are back in business. This is what they do and I think they've done really great job with this song, great start for the new Green Day-era.
