Does anyone else think 'don't stop when the red lights flash' could mean basically no matter what happens, life needs to carry on

I think it means don't stop having sex in the back seat even when the cops come. He wants the orgasm. Jeez. My head's REALLY in the gutter with this one.

Yeah, I'm sick and twisted. Somebody please stop me.

No. :P

Yeah... the lyrics aren't the best ever, but there are some parts that do get me "Old story, same old story"... none of it makes any sense, but it still touches me

Those are my favorite lyrics, too. Honestly, I don't like them very much. And tell them they must stop when the red light flash because we want them to stay alive for a long time :D

However, the song is very good. I love how Billie Joe's voice sounds and the beginning is just

I don't know why, but while listening to this song I thought that Stay the Night will be fucking good. Those are the connections made by brain

I don't see why people is so affraid of over-analysing. Isn't it fun? Then go, you know you want to!

After that analysis of "don't stop when the red lights flash," I can't stop thinking that this song is one big ode to the pleasures of roadhead.

Bwahaha! Seriously, this song is the most beautiful, poetic description of an orgasm I've ever heard. I freaking love it!

I think there might be a couple.

It's snappy, engaging, but not earth shattering. It's fun - and it sounds like modern Green Day. Fact is they're never going to go back to the days of Nimrod, Insomniac, Dookie, they just can't. They're a rock and roll band now, and the punk aspect of their influence has pretty much been phased out. Not that that's a bad thing by any means, they're just musicians and musicians change.

My cousin is mad at me because I figured out how to get Oh Love from the iTunes store before him :P (it was also handy doing it this way because I finally put my Insomniac CD on my iPod)

Actually I'd like to over-analyze but I actually have to go to sleep. Gotta long day tomorrow (almost midnight here in Finland) and I need at least 5h sleep.

I have to read all the incoming pages tomorrow.

Damn, I have to listen to it one more time before going to sleep....... :D

I just had to go out for a half hour and by a massive stroke of luck the song came on the radio in the car. I just cranked it and it is fucking good when you turn up the bass. Completely different experience :)

Simiraly I think know your enemy is quite good song to drive to.

I think a lot of GD fans are scared of change in their sound, myself included. But this is good.

i'm not.

Thank you, but you deserve plenty of it for seeing the "forest" that I didn't. Now that I've figured out how that stoppage-of-time theme is woven into the lyrics, this song is giving me chills every time I listen to it.

I like how the "stoppage-of-time theme" is in the lyrics, but also in the music. The stoptime, the space between the guitar parts in the verses. Brilliant echoing of lyrics in the music!

Boring and generic.

I'm not scared about the change in their sound! Because I know that they will make an awesome work with Uno, Dos, Tre! 21st Century Breakdown is also very different than American Idiot! And 21st CB is an awesome album! We have to trust Green Day! :D

Guessing it isn't in the UK itunes considering all my search can find me is 'Oh Happy Days - The Gospel Collection' by B.T.Green and the Christian Harmonettes

I must have listened to it around fifty times now, I do bloody love it.

I was thinking it was more along the lines of regardless of what happens you should live your life how you want to and to not change for others. But thats just my 2 cents on all of this. :D

I'm thinking it has to do with ignoring distractions...the "I'm going to go play Candyland with my daughter now -- nope, can't, because there's a pile of dirty dishes in the sink that need to be cleaned up." Lesson: leave the fucking dishes alone and go play with your little girl.

Thanks for re-emphasizing that -- I've mentioned that elsewhere in this thread but forgot about it in that post. Yes, the stop-time rhythm plays perfectly into that theme. I kinda feel badly now for the people who aren't seeing this theme yet, it brings the song to an entirely new level! :)

Also the music stopping and starting is the same as sudden bursts of passion :)

"oh love" shows up on my itunes store, yet says it's not available. -_- arrrgh

You have right! It's not that much different.. But my point is that is no reason to be scared of change in their sound.. They'll be awesome!

The lines "Oh love/Oh love/Won't you rain on me tonight" makes me think he's talking about an orgasm. "Oh ride/Free ride" = sex.

Yeah, I'm sick and twisted. Somebody please stop me.

I have to say when i read the (guessed) lyrics to the youtube video of the Red7 performance i thought it was about sex and, whilst for me it has other meanings too, i still think the same.

On several levels. Nice catch.

Ok so can we all agree now that Oh Love is an audio-based description of one hell of a huge orgasm?
