That is badass! I wonder why they're releasing 5 major products in the near future though. I do hope it isn't just because of the money :/

Well anyway, I can't wait to see pre - Dookie stuff! This is gonna be amazing :)

Really exciting, to say the least. Yet another thing (or things) to look forward to within the next year. As many have said, it's going to be great to have some insight into how the band has put together this whole thing over the last year and a half to two years.

That being said, I can't help but feel like this is the beginning to the end. I don't know why but that was one of the first things that crossed my mind. I mean, three albums, a documentary about those albums and a documentary about pre-Dookie. Kind of makes me think they want to say, "Here's how they started. And here's how they've ended." They want to throw everything at the wall and see what happens. If it sticks, then they say "Great! Let's keep it rolling." If it doesn't stick, then it's like "well, let's reevaluate and see what we want to do from here."

Well I was actually more thinking of it as a way to look back where they came from before they broke through with Dookie, then make this comparison with how passionate they still are at making music and how, after 20+ years they manage to still be this ambitious.

I do share the thought that, if the trilogy becomes a big success, they probably won't be reaching this kind of ambitious level that easily in the future. And maybe they even realize that. But then again, when they started filming the documentary about the process of creating a, what turned out to be, trilogy they had no idea how it would turn out.

If this would mean the beginning of the end, it would be a damn epic one though. But I'm pretty sure that there deffinetely is life after the trilogy. But what kind of life would it be..?

Honestly, if this all proves to be as glorious as it sounds like it should be, I think I would be OK with the trilogy + documentaries as a bookend to an epic career....

But thankfully, they're not gonna stop, ever.

Weird enough, I feel the same way. But indeed, even when they all are old or end up in a wheelchair they will keep on rolling.

No HLAHG BS! :angry Everyone wants to see these! A Bluray and DVD release please

I don't think they have any plans for the future yet... I also doubt they've even consciously thought about life after the trilogy yet. They're probably too scared and too engrossed in the present.

Kind of like American Idiot. I don't think they were prepared for how epic it would turn out and how well-received it would be, and they didn't really start to think about how to follow it up until well into the era. That's why there was such a long break between that and 21st Century Breakdown, and is probably largely why a lot of fans felt that 21CB was a little forced or sounded like they were trying too hard to match the level of AI. (I disagree with that point of view, btw. I love 21CB for what it is, and feel it was the right step after AI. Likewise, though, this fun, less serious trilogy also feels like the best step after two serious concept albums.)

In this case, I think it just kind of turned into this huge project. They're feeling really creative, and even though they may try to keep it simple, it turns out huge because that's just how Green Day is. They can't really do it any other way. They probably aren't thinking too far ahead, but whatever happens next will probably - somehow - end up being equally if not more exciting. I have no idea how, but Green Day always impresses me.

But, like they've said, no one leaves GD unless it's in a coffin. I expect many more years of music from them. :)

I just woke to this. This is... It's just... I can't even...

Asdfghjkl; Omg! Yes!! Everything about this fucking trilogy is fucking amazing! I generally believe this is the best milestone in punk rock! This is the biggest thing to happen to me since I've been a fan of any band! Oh god! I love documentaries about Green Day! This is going to be fantasmic!

I'm just so excited that they're working with Bayer again, I think he's a genius. This will be amazing.

I say it again. Green Day energizes me better than coffee! Two documentaries... these guys are amazing! How do not love them?

Fuck yeah :woot: :woot: :woot:. Oh my god from the description it sounds like it's gonna be brilliant. Yet more amazingness!

(Not so keen on the Sam Bayer news, if they make any videos as awful as JOS or WMUWSE I will be displeased. But I'll wait and see on that one.)

Will be interesting to see the pre dookie stuff. I wonder if they ever managed to find footage of the nativity play they did?

:D

They should name the pre Dookie documentary "It's Wank Time" and then name the new documentary "It's Fuck Time".

To show how far they've come obviously! :P

i really didn't like the Sam Bayer's music videos... except american idiot..

but whatever, these documentaries will be brilliant

This is excellent news :woot:

I'm really excited about the second documentary and glad about what Billie said about it. All the GD documentaries I've seen, well, as interesting as the story is, but having people just sit on a chair and have them tell stories it is quite boring. Pictures/Videos say so much more!

Lol I love how he's all "I won't be sitting in a chair talking" and the next, Sam Bayer is back!

I'm a little meh about that part as WMUWSE and JOS are truly awful videos, so we shall see. It seems as though they're trying to do everything different to 21CB.

Oh my god, thankyou Hermione!. Can't wait to see the making of the albums and seeing them messing around having fun, the studio updates made me want more!

Ermm... He also did Boulevard of Broken Dreams... And Holiday... And Wake Me Up When September Ends... And Jesus Of Suburbia... And Welcome To The Black Parade by MCR... And Famous Last Words... ... ... He is awesomely amazing... How can you say you didn't like his videos...

for me its more like GD is on the top of their creative progress..they must be rly sure that the 36 songs are epic and they take a high risk with releasing a trilogy in such a short time + the TWO documentaries now.

I hope that not happen like HLAHG...fortunatly we know that is by Sam B. so usually they released his docs..
