TWO documentaries?!?! I didn't see that coming! But that's so cool!

I'm really excited to see the making of the trilogy - I've always wondered how they make records, and it will likely be pretty insightful and very interesting. Plus, I just love seeing them.

Kind of like the backstage footage of Bullet In A Bible, but a lot more! Yay!

The pre-Dookie documentary kind of came out of nowhere, but that's really exciting too. It will give me (and many many others) a glimpse of their past selves. Where they came from. Really exciting and different from what I'm used to. I've only been a fan since American Idiot (and I was still 3 when Dookie came out), so this will be a very different Green Day from what I've known the last 8 years.

(Still wondering if they'll ever release Heart Like A Hand Grenade....... I would still love to see that. Since they're releasing a trilogy of albums, they might as well release a trilogy of documentaries!!! The making of Uno Dos Tré, their pre-Dookie stuff, and the making of AI. :toocool: )

Lastly, I love that Samuel Bayer is back for their videos. I loved all the AI videos, so it will be great to see more videos like that. The kind of GD I fell in love with in the first place, but updated. ♥

I generally don't pay attention to directors so much though. It's video by video for me. I might like some by one director, but not all of his work. But I did like all of Sam's work before, so I'm excited.

So much good news!! :runaround:

trilogy documentary vs. pre-dookie documentary..

winner: PRE-DOOKIE!!!

i know we were all hoping for a trilogy documentary but now i somehow don't care about it that much :D

FUCK ME STRAIGHT.

This sounds orgasmic.

It's like late 2012 to early-mid 2013 Green Day will be jizzing all over us with so many things....

This is so fucking awesome. I loved what Sam Bayer did with Green Day. I'm excited to see the Pre-Dookie part of the documentary. Omg I woke up to this news, this day will rock for sure :D

Wow this is awesome! It never even occured to me that they might do a pre-dookie film! Oooooh so excited!

I guess this means that we won't be seeing an American Idiot movie any time soon, though. I can't imagine them coming out with two documentaries, and then another film, all in the course of the next few years. I think that'd be a bit of green day movie overload from a marketing standpoint.

Normals bands release one album.

Green Day releases three albums and two movies.

I feel satisfied with the trajectory of the human species.

SAM THE BEAR is back. Watch out.

now this is nice news to wake up to at 5 in the morning :D

First they announce three whole albums. Then it's two whole movies. And on top of that all, Sam Bayer's doing their video(s?). Fucking awesome.

I knew they'd be doing something awesome with all that footage, the studio videos were too well done to just be teasers. This is fucking exciting ! As I'm sure everyone in our hotel is now aware from all the screaming that came from our room when we heard.

I JUST DID THE CREEPIEST LAUGH. Cannot contain my excitement!

I was expecting some type of documentary for Uno/Dos/Tre, but a pre-Dookie film sounds sick. I wonder what that'll be like. Imagine the boys going, "Let's film some stuff now so that we can release a documentary about it 20 years from now k that sounds pretty cool"

Yay! I have the biggest smile on my face right now   I'm so glad Sam Bayer is back around again, I loved the work he did with BIAB and the music videos for American Idiot. And a pre-dookie documentary is going to blow my mind. Was not expecting that.

I love this. Expect an album, get three. Hear rumours about a documentary, get two. This is actually going to be awesome. Can't wait to see them. I just hope they don't end up like Heart Like A Handgrenade.

With labels and bands doing 10/20 year anniversarys of albums i could see em doing a 10 yr deluxe of AI with HLAHG with it maybe?

Did they sit in a room and go like, "What would please our fans the most?"?

I feel like the material is going to be incredible.

I think I love Green Day even more.

So excited!!!, great news to wake up to.

I know this has been said already (fuck you I'm excited) but...

Green Day was like "People want a new album? Fuck that, they're getting three new albums." Then they find out about all this excitement for their documentary and they're like "They want a documentary? No, fuck them. They get two." I love it. Just awesome.

Anyways, I'm really excited to hear this. I'm really looking forward to the pre-Dookie stuff, that is gonna be hella interesting to watch.

Two. Two? TWO FREAKING DOCUMENTARIES??

I cannot contain myself!!!!! :runaround:

Really exciting, to say the least. Yet another thing (or things) to look forward to within the next year. As many have said, it's going to be great to have some insight into how the band has put together this whole thing over the last year and a half to two years.

That being said, I can't help but feel like this is the beginning to the end. I don't know why but that was one of the first things that crossed my mind. I mean, three albums, a documentary about those albums and a documentary about pre-Dookie. Kind of makes me think they want to say, "Here's how they started. And here's how they've ended." They want to throw everything at the wall and see what happens. If it sticks, then they say "Great! Let's keep it rolling." If it doesn't stick, then it's like "well, let's reevaluate and see what we want to do from here."

Will be interesting to see the pre dookie stuff. I wonder if they ever managed to find footage of the nativity play they did?

Interesting, especially because your explanation of your thoughts was not what I was expecting based on how you framed it. By beginning of the end, which I agree is a possibility, I thought you meant more along the lines of "Here's the last great thing we will get from Green Day." They're going balls out with this, and although we KNOW they're going to make new music for the rest of their lives, you do get the impression that, if this is going to be an even MORE epic era for them than say AI or Dookie, they're going to milk it for all it's worth and then when the dust settles, things will be eternally average (average by Green Day standards)... I don't think they have any plans for the future yet... I also doubt they've even consciously thought about life after the trilogy yet. They're probably too scared and too engrossed in the present.
