Change this: "(except from Burnout and FOD )." for this: "(except from Burnout, Having a Blast and FOD )" and I cometelly agree with this post.

Insomniac is such a great album indeed. Ironically though, I think the most overrated GD song is actually Walking Contradaction. I care very little for that song and honestly believe any other song off Insomniac is three times more awesome than Walking Contradiction.

And I also think Restless Heart Syndrome is overrated among GD fans, even some 21stCB "haters" seem to like this song a lot. I don't like it at all. Also Know Your Enemy, very overrated.

That's all I can think for the time being.

You're totally right about Walking Contradiction!

But I love Restless Heart Syndrome...And know your enemy is just overrated because it was the first single after 5 years or something. And it's catchy as hell

Dude what? I've only heard a few people here on GDC talk about Restless Heart Syndrome in the couple years I've been here, not to mention that anybody outside doesn't even know it exists! It's the gem of 21st imo, a wonderful song.

The most overrated song (for me anyway) is always gonna be Letterbomb. I like it, but it's far from the best on AI.

Hence I said that it's only overrated between GD fans (because not many people outside of our circle know or care about that song). And also, almost every time I, or anyone else, mentions RHS a lot of the GD fans start praising that song, as you and petros above me seem to prove it. Most people really liked that song off that album, even the ones who didn't care much for the rest of the album. So... yes, taken that into account, I think it's overrated. "the gem of 21st", see for me that'd be Peacemaker

Personally i think the band overate Hitchin a Ride and Brain Stew....

Whilst when Hitchin A Ride goes into that epic bridge its pretty epic live for a quick mosh, but other than that, live it doesnt do much for me, same as Brain Stew.

I dont really get why the band continue to play them live religiously, when they started playing Nice Guys Finish Last and Geek Stink Breath again, i thought they would be the new "album singles" section for the setlists.

Everything on Insomniac except for GSB, BUW, No Pride, Brain Stew/Jaded, Westbound Sign, and Walking Contradiction. Everyone talks about how great Insomniac is but it's their only Reprise record that I put in only to hear a few songs. The beats piss me off and I can't understand shit because it all goes way to fast and sounds too angry. Almost* all their other stuff I could listen to on an endless loop forever.

*Welcome to Paradise. Too long and just not as fun as the rest of Dookie. It sounds like a Lookout Rec. reject. Oh wait because it is...

If by "over-rated" you mean popular, then i would say the singles off of dookie, brain stew, good riddance (or rather Time of your Life, if you will), the American Idiot singles (excluding Jesus of Suburbia), and 21 guns.

However, if by "over-rated" you mean popular, but not very good, then i will simply say Know Your Enemy.

All personal opinions, of course!

And with a chuckle, I shall end this post!

I must disagree with you there, what about Armatage Shanks, Stuck With Me, 86 etc. Infact I think Insomniac is the album with the least skippable tracks. It's angry, but I see that as one of the good points, along with the strong lyrics, truly punk attitude, awesome bass and crazy drums. If anyone ever says Green Day aren't punk then I just show them Insomniac. But I might be biased as it was my first Green Day album.

As for most overrated song, I'd have to say Viva la Gloria

You listed half of Insomniac. It seems you like it more than you wanna let on. Just accept it bro, you're one of us.

Oh I love the songs that I listed but not a fan of everything else. When I listen to all the albums in order, Insomniac is in for all of ten minutes then it's on to Nimrod. I sometimes listen to Tight Wad Hill just because it comes between Westbound sign and Walking Contradiction, and 86 every once in a while. But I think the whole album is overrated among fans. I think my main problem is that it doesn't feel like the natural progression between Dookie and Nimrod. I can see a natural evolution between all the albums but Insomniac, save for a few songs like Brain Stew, Westbound, and Walking Contradiction, felt like a step back in terms of sound. Sure it's punk, but Green Day has always seemed to transcend the simple punk label since they signed with Reprise, at least to me. But that's just my opinion.

In my opinion Dookie. The singles are really good songs and unique. But almost all the other songs of the record are fillers(except from Burnout and FOD ).

Insomniac on the other side is pure awesome :P

Exactly. I thought I was the only one that felt this way about Dookie. It's far from being one of my favorite albums by Green Day. Insomniac, on the other hand, >>>>>>. It's just SO much better than Dookie.

Also, I think Minority is super overrated amongst Green Day fans; Personally, I think it's the worst song off Warning (which is one of my fav albums ever and, imo, really underrated).

Most overrated? Hmmmm. Tough cuz tbh, while they do have the odd bad song, most of those ones haven't much hype anyways (1,000 Hours, Extraordinary Girl, Peacemaker all don't have much hype).

I'd say Know Your Enemy but unless i am wrong, it never was a big single anyways.

Wait, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and 21 Guns. Which seems to be the general concensus here. Overrated for sure...but i love those two songs anyways. I wouldn't call them bad.
