alienlifeform Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Wtf? I had the exact same thoughts a few days ago. Worst thing that can happen now is to not being able to live to hear the new songs. In the worst case scenario, they better have a record store in heaven! (or hell, wherever I'm going. Though I have a bad feeling that they'll only have Justin Bieber cds there) I share the same fear either
petros Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I know there's not much to talk about here since we have all those sub forums but seriously?Talking about what will happen if we die and don't hear the records? The most important thing you'll leave if you die is that you won't hear the music? And the world is not gonna end in december believe me.If it does everybody come and kick my ass
Neon Light Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Question for more long term fans than me: has there ever been as big a build up to an album as this? In terms of the amount of trailers, information, secret shows etc. I've been a fan since 2005 but sort of slacked off between 2006-2009 so I wasn't around for the build up to 21st Century Breakdown.
angry_robot Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I've been a fan since 2005 but sort of slacked off between 2006-2009 so I wasn't around for the build up to 21st Century Breakdown. I've got similar situation, but I believe that this is the first time with all this youtube-twitter stuff. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 21CB didn't have any trailers or studio updates.
DannyDirnt Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Now we discover they are remastering Static Age ahahaha Also, were they as excited when they were making other albums? Did they get this excitement with 21CB?
Alan86 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 With 21st century breakdown they did have 2 leaked YouTube updates but they were not official updates from greenday.com, there was also a leaked demo of the song 21st Century Breakdown. There were no secret shows till about a month before the album release. They did give info about the album though through magazine articles, they also released album lyrics and teased us with an audio clip on greenday.com Overall I would say anticipation levels for both 21st Century Breakdown and this upcoming trilogy are on a par. However the build up to 21st Century Breakdown was quiet secretive, while this time around the band have been refreshingly more open
cabot_girl Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I know I will love these albums, and a whole lot more than 21st century breakdown which I think was way overproduced. I really don't like the sound of it. This sounds truly amazing by a totally amazing band. I've always felt that Green Day don't need much "producing" in the sense that they are perfect live! The tease on the Uno! trailer and on Tre! is so damn catchy:-)))
Undómiel Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Does anyone else suffer from an irrational fear that they won't live to hear these albums? That something tragic will happen and you'll drop dead. It's like dying a virgin. Right now I'm on the "Just gotta keep myself alive until July 16th..." affirmation. Then it becomes more challenging. No. Actually. No.

Indeed. Besides, they found a new (bigger) calendar that goes even beyond 2012. Silly Mayans Let's just all agree with not dying on December 21st and leave it with that

Silly Mayans Let's just all agree with not dying on December 21st and leave it with that haha smart yeah i know, i've heard about that...probably people will start thinking that on the day that "new" calendar ends, the world'll go down silly people!! ;D yeah totally agree!!
Bastard of 1967 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Acording to Mike, maybe in 2013 dogs take over the world and Green Day (mostly Tre) will help them. I also suppose that the date of this exciting event will be on 15th January. Everyone all over the world will so interested with iTre! that they won't care about teir dogs and then pets will come to the power. I think I took too much vitamin G "Fuck the dog, the dog's dead!" With 21st century breakdown they did have 2 leaked YouTube updates but they were not official updates from greenday.com, there was also a leaked demo of the song 21st Century Breakdown. However the build up to 21st Century Breakdown was quiet secretive, while this time around the band have been refreshingly more open After that 5-year break between AI and 21stCB they seemed anxious, nervous, "tight" about getting the next album out, and I think it showed. As artistically excellent as 21stCB was, they (particularly Butch I think) overthought things. This time around they're riding a creative wave left over from their last tour, they've become accustomed to using social media to share more of their off-stage time with the fans, and they're juiced from the success of the Broadway show. Look at the difference this time. The band's energy and excitement is just spilling the fuck outta them and they're constantly teasing us with sneak peeks of what they're up to. Seems to me they've hit a groove where they're simply doing what they love, they're loving what they do, they're pushing their own envelope yet again, and they're moving ahead without giving a damn about what anyone else thinks. They're happy, excited, and loose...and OH does it show!
TheNimrod51 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I think the song in the trailer is "99 revolutions". Check out the audio of the song from Red 7 [media=]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLOELjpT4g4&feature=youtu.be&t=1h27m50s The song is incorrectly listed as 8th Avenue Serenade. It starts at 01:27:50 It sounds very similar to the song in the trailer! You're right! It seems the drumming is a bit off but you can faintly hear the guitar solo and the guitar and bass sound almost dead on.
DannyDirnt Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I just get the feeling that they are really back. But like they are going to be again really famous and appear all the time on TV.

Now they don't feel the need to make something even bigger they are just doing what ever feels natural, and by the sound of the clips they are loving making music again
Sixtrix Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Exactly, I think they really felt the pressure on trying to make something that could be as big as AI. Now they don't feel the need to make something even bigger they are just doing what ever feels natural, and by the sound of the clips they are loving making music again I remember back then Butch Vig saying in an interview that he hoped, as a follow up to AI, they would not take a step back. So I agree that there definitely was a lot of pressure going on with creating a follow up. I do think that Butch Vig did not get a fair chance to show his skills and cooperation in the best way with Green Day. As far as I know, Rob never had to work with the band in such conditions. Kind of makes me think of the big expectations people had with Obama, but the problems being too big for him to completely solve. Bastard said it perfectly, they deffinetely over thought some things on 21CB, but I still think both Butch and the band did a great job with it.

Sixtrix Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I just think Butch pressured them too much. If Rob had worked on 21CB, it probably would have been much more epic. Butch had a lot if pressure as well. Don't forget that it was his first time working with the band, and the moment he stepped in there were 50-100 songs (some finished some not) and The band had no clue what to do with it and completely lost direction. Whether Rob would have done it better or not does not really matter. I think Butch did all he could do, and since it was not that bad I truly believe he did a great job. Besides, he pushed Billie to put Horseshoes and Handgrenates on the album. That deffinetely was one of his best decisions.
Heather. Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I remember Billie saying that after American Idiot, no one at Warner Bros. wanted to listen to their new music or work with them... you get the impression that management were all scared about what to do next, and none of them wanted to take on a challenge that daunting. I know Rob was promoted during that time and had a lot of work to do independently, but I always wondered if maybe he, too, was one of the people too freaked out to work with Green Day. You gotta admire Butch Vig's willingness to try, and even though 21 CB isn't my favorite album by a long shot, I can still appreciate the fact that he DID make sure Green Day did NOT take a step backwards. Sorry, a bit off topic there.
Annie, get your gun Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Best things on this new trailer: Billie surfing Mike beaing adorably lovely as always Tré scaring people  (looks like he had lots of fun covered with grass )
warding_off_regrets Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Does anyone else suffer from an irrational fear that they won't live to hear these albums? That something tragic will happen and you'll drop dead. It's like dying a virgin. Right now I'm on the "Just gotta keep myself alive until July 16th..." affirmation. Then it becomes more challenging. Yes, actually x_x. I'm trying not to listen to any of the secret show recordings so that it's all brand new to me when the singles/albums come out, but the devil on my shoulder is like "psssst...what if you die before you hear any of it? You should listen to the secret show recordings." My brain is an asshole. This buildup so far seems so open, natural, laid-back, and fun, and I'm so happy the guys seem to be in such a good place creatively.
