Bastard of 1967 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 This will be my first opportunity to actually purchase a Green Day CD on the day it comes out. Was never a big enough fan to care before. Now, I can't wait to march into whichever store I find that has it cheapest around here and buy it that day. Preordering and waiting on the mail, would not give me the same satisfaction. I think as time rolls on we'll eventually find out what the various options are. In the end I'm likely going to wind up preordering an iTunes deluxe version that contains the bonus tracks or B-sides so I can at least listen to the album right away, and then also pick up either the physical CDs locally (Target, Best Buy, or mail order from Amazon) as they drop if they have a good lyric + art book with them, or as a box set with DVD if that's the way the band's going to go. I'm in no rush to preorder the physical CDs right now, as I really don't see any benefit from doing so at this point.
DecanoLP Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 This gets me pretty punped! Should be great to listen to the first 4 tracks, they're all awesome, especially Let Yourself Go Rusty James sounds weird though... And I've never seen a band before that chooses a first single which is actually the last song on the record. Interesting!

Thought I could only get them on a physical CD. Hm...well I know I want the CD but it might be easier on the release date to just download it from there and get a physical copy later. Thanks, Michael!
XBlade1X Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Rusty James sounds weird though... And I've never seen a band before that chooses a first single which is actually the last song on the record. Interesting! The Living End also did that with The Ending is Just the Begginning Repeating, Which I actually expected to be the first track on the album. I was hoping more for Stay the Night to be the first single, but this is a good song for the wait leading up to the album, with STN hopefully be the single that launches with it.
Guest Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I don't know if this has been said yet, but talking about singles/promos... Do you think they'll release two tracks (includeing Oh Love) before the CD release and one during ? It seems reasonable, bands now a days do that.

gerardsangel4977 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 That's what I am wondering as well.. Or could it be possible that there's the chance to preorder a "bundle" of all the three of them at the same time, but get each album on its release date, sent out seperately? Never heard about something like that, though.. Well, when 21CB came out, the special vinyl edition of the album had a later release date than the regular album. The people who pre-ordered the vinyl (through Warner/Reprise) were emailed codes to download a digital copy of 21CB at midnight the day of release so they would still be able to listen to the album while waiting for the vinyl edition to come. MCR did something similar with the California 2019 boxsets for Danger Days when the production got delayed, as I recall. So they definitely could do it.
fiercecircus Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 You made your thread exactly 30 seconds before me, and mine was better And because he's Andres. I think I'd rather go to the store on the day it's released, rather then pre-ordering. More fun that way. Did the same for 21CBD You guys are after my own heart. I will even go to the indie run record store to buy it (mostly because they're hard up for money and i can convince this one guy to sell me stuff before the release date. Even though if they get caught it's something like a $20,000 fine.) I have always gone to the store on the day of release, except for Dookie and the lookout ones, because i didn't know they existed yet. It is a fucking massive feeling of satisfaction of going out and buying that shit, and holding it in your hands and unwrapping it in the car. It's like fucking Christmas. I'm glad that doesn't get old for people. Don't slam it too hard though. It's a kick ass album, but not unbreakable There is a very satisfying feeling of walking up to the counter with thing and being like I'M A HUGE DORK AND I LIKE GREEN DAY AND I DON'T GIVE A FUCK! BANG! I wonder if the guy at that one record store will still sell shit early. He used to brag about it all the time, like OH YOU SHOULD HAVE SHOPPED HERE, I WOULD HAVE SOLD IT TO YOU EARLY. So when Warning came out, i went there the day before and said HEY SELL ME THAT NEW GREEN DAY ALBUM! and he fucking complained and muttered about rules and fines and shit. And i was like, shut up, you always tell people you'll do it, just fucking sell it to me. And he is hard up for money and probably needed to buy weed or something, so he did. And, in essence, i *did* take the whole day off to listen to it. I had been on my way to school and i hated school and my classes were shit and i had been thinking about quitting anyways. And I knew if i cut class that day i would probably never go back. So i decided to try going to the record store to see if i could get it early and thusly dropped out of college. Dude sold me the cd and i drove around for several hours listening to it so that my parents wouldn't be pissed (i hadn't broken the news to them yet. And honestly they weren't that pissed. They knew how bad the semester was going.) I'm pretty sure i have stories for all the other GD albums i've bought too. It's usually fairly memorable.
Brigister Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Why can't my parents get a fucking credit card? I want to pre order this.

Brigister Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 You don't need a credit card to preorder on amazon. I always thought you needed one to buy stuff online
Mary711 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I always thought you needed one to buy stuff online If you're having an account you can pay with direct debit.
