gmcloughlin Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 This is brilliant Was def not expecting a single before August, and for some reason I thought Oh Love would be on iTré! but dunno why GREEN DAY'S GONNA BE ON THE RADIO AGAIN!!!!
frunsi Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 i hope they improve the song a bit. to me it sounds a bit like a very slow and boring version of jinx. and, ugh, that title... "oh love" can't think of anything cheesier but other than that: stoked!
pasalaska Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 well well well isn't this exciting! and also yet another thing announced while I'm at work. Always, without fail, it happens.
Yojimbo Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 From what I have heard on youtube, the song sounds awesome. Kinda like a laidback, rock n' roll feel to it. I am pretty stoked for the new single.
Hermione Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 See I thought standard green day would be Tre - seeing as it’s epic? And it has piano on it so may be a bit like 21cb in places (but better).... I think Uno is gonna be completely new sound-wise, judging by the trailer snippet. Hmm, maybe I just mean it sounds like it's gonna have the least weird sound . If Dos is dirty/garagey and Tre is epic there's probably more chance of weirder sounding songs coming out of them than from a simple power pop album. And even though a power pop album is new territory I feel like it's gonna be somewhat reminiscent of the classic/older Green Day sound since that was simple and poppy/pop punky. But I'm splitting hairs really, they're all gonna have a new sound so I'm sure any song from them is gonna take a lot of people by surprise. I just have a feeling there may be even more surprising songs to come (Fuck Time springs to mind ).
Marki. Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 oh my god totally wouldn't expect this to be (the first) single!

The fact that Carpe Diem and Stay the Night are (probably) on Uno also supports it... those songs are classic Green Day, in a good way.
Sixtrix Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 This might be a very challenging one as a first single, or a single at all. It builds up quite slow, which I really love about the song, but I am not sure if it contains the right elements to make people aware that there is a wonderful 1st part of a trilogy coming. But I am hoping that song is going to kick my ass and proves me wrong
Undómiel Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Stoked for news... Not stoked on the title... at all.
Danish Idiot Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I could not be more excited, this totally made my day. It's the best news I've heard all week!
BJWolf Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Could they have picked a worse song to release as the first single? It's like they sat down in a room together and debated how they could best sink this trilogy and are now just beginning to implement their plan by releasing a song that at best could be considered a weak b side (in my opinion). What happened to releasing heavy hitting, attention grabbing first singles (American Idiot, Longview, Greek Stink Breath...) that would wow fans and the world alike with their power and infective nature? Hell no, that would be "redoing what we've already done before, so let's release the most bland and boring song we could possibly create just so we can be different this time around". Stay the Night, Carpe Diem, Nuclear Family, and Let Yourself Go all fit the bill a whole lot better, and more importantly, they are just really good songs. Oh Love wouldn't even make the b sides list of a top notch Green Day album like American Idiot or Dookie. I am VERY dissapointed and am expecting much less from all these albums which I was finally beginning to warm up to (style wise) and really anticipate. Excitement=gone.
KatherineKerplunk Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 This is very exsiting. Can't wait until it comes out!
solongfromthestars Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 We don't even know anything about it until we've heard it properly, it's a bit early to be complaining it could sound completely different when recorded properly.

While I understand your concern (and share some similar thoughts on some points you raised) I also think it's unfair to judge it until we've heard the final recording.

That's very true and i am very aware of that...I'm just going off the recording that I have heard and am really upset for the reasons I explained in my previous post.
momoluvGD Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 My reaction after seeing this when I woke up this morning:

I appreciate that you can understand where I'm coming from. I just really really hope the studio version sounds a lot better than the recordings we have...:/. And like you said, it's only fair to reserve final judgement till we hear a proper recording and I will definitely do so.
Chiara Sabbatini Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 http://www.nme.com/n...green-day/64527 Article.. Nothing new ...but ...article!!

Yeah, that's understandable. Exactly how I felt about LOTAG. I don't feel like this is the best choice ever for a single but I'm still excited because I'm just not going to judge or get upset until I've heard the studio version. That's just me though, I can see why it might be different for someone else.
San Miguel Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I'm really excited about this - i quite like the sound of Oh Love from the live versions on youtube. wasn't expecting it to be this early actually, thought the first single would come mid-August. glad it's a bit earlier. was kinda expecting Kill the DJ to be the first single since it is was on the preview they released. tho saying that, i doubt It's Fuck Time will be the first single from Dos
lizziebix Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 posted yet? http://www.ology.com...single-oh-love- Excellent find. Can't wait to hear the kazoos!
Gwen Stacy Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 It wouldn't have been my first choice for a single, but I am VERY excited that we get new music soon! It's interesting how they're changing the standard formula of singles by releasing the power ballad first and hopefully we'll get the pump-ass single closer to Uno's release to get people more excited about the new album
GreenDayisAmazing Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 OMG so can't wait. 3 weeks is still so far away! So excited

I understand what you're saying and I thought that too but it's just a single. We''ll hear all those power songs anyway when uno gets released.Singles are just for Mtv and poser fans who don't listen to albums but just singles.
