spacesauce Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 This new single is going to make Monday much more enjoyable. Too bad I'll be at work/leaving for work and won't be able to hear it until the evening! I have a computer at work, but won't be able to listen to it. Internet filters=evil.
K-Lo green Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I am actually really impressed that it hasn't leaked it. I mean think of all the radio stations that must have it right now, and not one of them leaked it out. Sad day.

K-Lo green Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Yeah if they play it on the air, I'm saying usually an intern will copy it onto a flashdrive and take it home, email it to a few friends, and it spreads in a likewize fashion.
Alan86 Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I'm not sure the record labels send radio stations the song on cd anymore. I asumed that new singles are just emailed to radio stations the second the song is released. That way it is less likely to leak early.
WestboundSign! Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I really wonder which radio channel here in Germany is most likely to air the song on the 16th.
solongfromthestars Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I know they still sent songs to radio stations on promo CDs when 21CB was around, the people often sold them on eBay for a shitload of money afterwards and I remember Billie joking with Zane Lowe (or whatever his name is) about that. Obviously that's a few years ago now though (shit, doesn't seem like it!) so things could easily have changed.
GuitarPunk94 Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I really wonder which radio channel here in Germany is most likely to air the song on the 16th. i mailed to some popular/famous radio stations around the "Rhein-Main"-area..asked them when/if they will air the new single...but i got no answer till now
Idiotic Tendency... Sixtrix Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 The song has already been sent to Radio 1 apperently That's funny.. I could swear I just felt the ground starting to shake a bit.. As if something big is about to happen very soon
Tubbie Head Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I'm afraid I'm not going to like the video... Oh well. I hope my doubts go away.
K-Lo green Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 And so the hunt begins. Hello youtube and pirate bay!
M1KEY Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 According to my producer, CD's are still the best quality, much better than digital. So I'd assume record labels still send out CD's, at least to select radio stations.

So I'd assume record labels still send out CD's, at least to select radio stations. You should probably find a new producer, since - by definition - CDs are digital. Further, Green Day (and almost every modern band, artist or teen idol) record straight into a Pro Tools desk. There's almost nothing analogue about how these songs get from Green Day to us, and never has been.

Some people are not fond of the slight quality loss, of which I am one. It is funny that the logical progress for both film and music is going digital, while in both cases the quality is not as good as analogue but "close enough" for the uninitiated

They don't know what is it! Month ago, when my old stereo system broke down, I bought a new one. It hasn't got CD changer and other features like the old one. What's the worst, I couldn't find in the biggest shop in the near city the stero system with this features! Now everyone listens to the music form iPods, phones and mp4-players, but they don't know, what they are losing. I also use my phone, but only, when I'm outside home. On-topic. I've got my vision of this video. It's creep and my priest would send me to hell for it! However, I love my imagination
pucky Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Damn you people, your speculations about the posibility of the single being leaked gave me hopes to listen to it before Monday!
PaulS Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 True. But the main problem with digital downloads is that the songs are compressed. Some people are not fond of the slight quality loss, of which I am one. There is no quality loss. Numerous double-blind tests have shown there to be discernible difference between source audio and a well-encoded MP3. At an AES convention a few years ago, they posted results of one such study: at bitrates of 256kb/s, the numbers of professional sound engineers who could tell any difference was 50%, and the number only gets lower the higher you go. And that's in a professional recording studio, using high end facilities. Your iPod, computer or hi-fi are neither of those things. The difference is in your mind. Of course, that's before we get to the more basic fact that regular radio broadcasts sounds like garbage, with DAB being only a little better. Neither of them are as good as even a badly encoded MP3, so this whole discussion is basically moot. Basically, it'll sound just fine, however it gets to you. In the rare case of a CD being sent to radio, it is almost always down to the policy of a particular station. For obvious reasons, labels would far rather you download the track from their server, at a time of their choosing.
pucky Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I don't know if anyone said it before, but in case not... the video for Oh Love will be officially released the first week of August. Billie Joe said it in his twitter account. (Now it's the time when you come and tell me it has been said thousands of times XD)
Lindsay Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 I don't know if anyone said it before, but in case not... the video for Oh Love will be officially released the first week of August. Billie Joe said it in his twitter account. That's not Billie's account... notice the "officiial". But you are correct, GDA confirmed it.

I mean think of all the radio stations that must have it right now, and not one of them leaked it out. Sad day. People should really stop counting on leaked material. Songs or whatever you can think of is only leaked if an asshole who works there leaks it for us. But am I the only one who doesn't even want it to be leaked? They want it to be a surprise, so I guess it should be.
pucky Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 That's not Billie's account... notice the "officiial". But you are correct, GDA confirmed it. OMG, it's true, I have been following a fake BJ for months! D= I thought it was him! But twitter SUCKS. When I started following BJ, I made sure it was the real one, but for no reason, my twitter account stopped following him and started following the fake one... It happened me more times with other people, as well as many friends of mine. Damn you, twitter. Damn you.

Vinyl gets better sound than cd...
