DannyDirnt Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 But how will people be hooked when the radio completely ignored them?
Ritz Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 But how will people be hooked when the radio completely ignored them? Internet brother. Internet will do it all.
DannyDirnt Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Internet brother. Internet will do it all. But no-fans don't use Internet to look Green Day... wait, why don't they? they should!
Bastard of 1967 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 But no-fans don't use Internet to look Green Day... wait, why don't they? they should! But they *do* use the internet. Between Twitter, Facebook, Pandora, SiriusXM, Spotify, Youtube, and Shazam, if the song's awesome the word will get out. In other words, as Gandhi once said, the people will lead and the leaders will follow.
Whatsinaname Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 My whole facebook page promotes Green Day. My internet "dating" profile used to quote the lyrics from "When I Come Around" I have changed it now to the lyrics from "Oh Love" Promote, promote, promote!
Ritz Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I think you mean Gandhi and yes internet is a huge medium and obviously it will be out and a rage over the internet. After all its green day !!
PasalacquaBomb Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Sorry if that's been already posted - I'm a little in hurry - but will there be a CD for the single? Hopefully there will...
lizziebix Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Already warned the wife that she's on her own with our little girl at 8am Central on Monday. Jury is still out as to whether I'll be sleeping on the couch come 8 *PM* on Monday. Not fair! I'll be on a city bus at 8am CST.
Martyn Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I think I missed a lot of information on this. So if the song premiers at 3 PM Central European time, does this mean that there isn't any possibility to download it earlier, like in the morning? Nope. iTunes/digital download release is actually the 17th. It'll be up at midnight though, so 9 hours of a wait for Central Europe
Jayne Billie Joe Hopkins Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Just heard trailer of oh love and cannot wait to download it from iTunes to my iPod but just seen that we don't get it in England till the 17th so not too happy but know its gonna be worth the wait
Zelda Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I won't be able to listen to it tge day it comes out. I'll be on a camping trip until the 22nd. FML
DTH Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 i once thougth green day was at least a band who is reffering to their punk roots and carry the values of the movement in their hearts. but i hate them for changin to a teenie band that has fans like a boygroup. "oh come on, lets start a trend on twitter so the first commercial shit single reaches everyone of our stupid computer generation and gets played to death on the radio. so green day can be billionairs instead of millionairs. and soon, yes soon, it will only be ous 17 year old girls on concerts. and we can discuss their "new style" and what kind of eyeliner billy uses." these are the things which are important to you associated with your favourite group?! once they were singing about fashion victims and now they became fashion victim themselfs. with a every album a new image. is there any honesty left, any barrier? broadway??? come on! btw, im not one of the typical sell out shouters. its ok if they are succesfull. but not for any price.... this is not the band i once fell in love with. now your replies will be: "arent they allowed to develope?" my answer: sure they are if they dont betray themselfs. but how can they even sing about how bad capitalism is and now sell three albums in a row so they can even earn more money? you know what a real band would do: bring out a tripple album for the normal prize at once. you think thats crazy? the clash did it... this is such a marketing gag. what a welcome posting, eh? sorry for beeing emotional. i loved this band, thats why the developement goign on since a few years just pisses me off.

If a band keeps doing the same thing over and over it gets boring really fast. Just about every artist that has ever been successful over along period of time will have reinvented themselves at least 1 or two times. This does not suit everyone, And that's ok. But if Green Day were making the same music for every album they put out I don't think theyd exist now. A band has to keep motivated by keeping things fresh and evolving their music and "style". It's ok to jump ship if you don't like it. Welcome btw
MidnightMuffin Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 @JosephKingston1 Just saw the lead singer of Green Day outside the old warehouse on my street#wtf#random Do we know where they are? Could this maybe be music video related?
Sanity Loan Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 According to a tweet from Green Day Inc., the band is recording "Oh Love" video this weekend. They didn't provide a source.

Green day are only interested in making money? That contradicts everything they have ever said and done. Walmart refused to sell their last record. American Idiot told Americans and many others some home truths that could have cost them their careers...consider the dixee chicks. Green Day are far from popularists. As for your comment about 17 year old girls...sexist often?! Im 27 but wtf? You claim to be deeply upset that they have strayed from their punk roots yet somehow you sight wearing eyeliner as cause for concern or a warning that they have become fashion victims...may i direct you to some early green day (1991) on youtube where Tre loved the stuff. Also you will find many other punk bands wore makeup in the 80s...also wtf?! Punk isnt about image...and surely a punk purist should know this...right?! ...Le sigh...

Green Day have always had teenage girl fans inhabiting some portion of their fanbase, even before they were famous....and while I honestly don't see why that's a problem in the first place, it's even more ludicrous to talk about it as if it's a new development.
valeriesername Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 A girl named alysha nett was casted for the oh love music video, and on her website (which is btw, very graphic X( ), she comfirmed that she got a callback from the casting director, and that they're gonna start shooting the video on sunday. I think her twitter was mentioned in the "green day tweets" thread.
Ritz Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Ooooooooh music video soon too xD This is gonna be awesome !!!!

Well, the only thing in your post that pissed me off was you spelling Billie's name with a Y. Other than that, if you think Green Day is a sellout, and that the punk left them years ago, than go talk on threads about 39/Smooth and Insomniac. If you dont like their modern stuff, don't get involved in it.
Heather. Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I tend to not be as a big a fan of the Green Day videos that feature "actors"... the only time it was truly done well was for the Warning video. But I'm not surprised "Oh Love" would require actors... I'm just hoping it's not cringeworthy, and if it is, I'll look forward to the next video with the just the band!
WestboundSign! Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 A music video! I seriously can't hide my excitement!
valeriesername Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 @theballad- Haha! No. If there's anything that ''arouses'' me, it's Billie's belly porn. I commented this because of the rumour going around about the music video being shot this weekend. There was also this other guy who was casted for the music video, but he never confirmed if he got a call back or anything. I'm just think that they cast people who actually know what they're doing and actually know about Green Day! The girl that was called back put "greenday" instead of Green Day. Anyone who was called back should at least know that Green Day is 2 words ! Also, I've been thinking that the reason Green Day's been having interviews near the beach, and in they're beach house, is because they're planning on having the music video's there..
Sixtrix Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Well if they hire a male and a female actor, then it might work well to build the video up towards a sexual climax that will lead us to the It's Fuck Time video Not gonna happen though
