The Pedestrian Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Oh no! If this means they get extra stuff again I'm gonna rage! Just rip it from youtube! Not that I’m condoning illegal downloads. But Warner deserve to have their music stolen when it’s not made globally available....
gerardsangel4977 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Just wondering, is there going to be a music video straight away or can that come after? Also, I noticed the trailer says "too much Uno"... too much y'know? And now we know why Billie is on the cover
Malleus Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Just rip it from youtube! Not that I’m condoning illegal downloads. But Warner deserve to have their music stolen when it’s not made globally available.... Illegal downloading is pretty awesome when it comes to things that are classified as illegal. Anyways, I'm anxiously awaiting a script that somebody will inevitably (bless their soul) make that lets you get rid of ads Billie Joe style.
Heather. Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 So Claudio the Telehit guy said Oh Love is extremely commercial and might make fans wonder "Where's the punk?" ... I say nothing wrong with that, if it weren't for those beautiful commercial songs (Boulevard, WMUWSE, Holiday... though Holiday is a bit more punk than the first two), a lot of us wouldn't be on these boards today. And we know we have 3 albums worth of material to get our fill of so many different types of songs. The fact that he found Oh Love to be a very good but very commercial song is a good thing, I think.

I completely agree with this 100%. They're commercial but still great songs. Sure overplaying them degrades the quality for some (even though it shouldn't) but it doesn't change the fact that those songs still rock.
DecanoLP Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I don't care if it's commercial or not, I just wanna hear a great song. Well, I still have my doubts after listening to the shitty live recording though. But we'll see
AndrewW91 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Who cares if it's not punk? Fuck that shit. Green Day is better than punk.
Todd Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Punk is doing whatever the fuck you feel like. Green Day sure as hell is punk!
Bastard of 1967 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 So Claudio the Telehit guy said Oh Love is extremely commercial and might make fans wonder "Where's the punk?" ... Punk, schmunk. Green Day has evolved from punk to pop-punk to more of a general (but by no means "generic") rock'n'roll band anyway. Trust me: you get older, you experience life differently, you mature, you mellow. The bandmates have grown and evolved, so has their music -- for shit's sake they've had a hit show on freakin' Broadway and if that doesn't say it all, I don't know what ever will. The Dookie and Insomniac days are well behind them, and we might as well start getting used to it and just enjoy what they're doing now while they're still around to do it. Well, okay, not all the punk spirit has mellowed out of them yet -- they can still troll the crap out of us with their trailers when they want to! Who cares if it's not punk? Fuck that shit. Green Day is better than punk. The word I think you're looking for is "transcends".
It's Splash Time Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 8th of August would be the perfect time for a music video. Exam results the day before. Just hoping the rest of the footage of the guy (let's face it, it's probably Tre) jumping out at people makes a music video.
solongfromthestars Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Who cares if it's not punk? Fuck that shit. Green Day is better than punk. Exactly, I don't know why people are even still talking about that. They don't need a genre, they're just Green Day. Punk, rock, whatever, it's irrelevant. Billie said it himself on Twitter, he only cares whether a song is good or not. I can't believe someone would choose to like a song or not based on what genre they think it is...
Elena Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 oh god, there should be invented the genre "Green Day" so that people will finally stop talking about wether it's punk or not...and that all the haters stop with that argument and stuff ...oh wait...basically that genre exists already
Kaddi. Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I think I missed a lot of information on this. So if the song premiers at 3 PM Central European time, does this mean that there isn't any possibility to download it earlier, like in the morning?
jacknovella Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I'm hoping these albums surprise a lot of people who thought Green Day were just a power chord band Can't wait for this, only 4 more days to go!
DannyDirnt Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Oh... I was just yesterday arguing with a guy who said GReen Day is the most commercial thing ever I think those are gonna be the Words I Might Have Ate... Still, I don't care because I'll enjoy it a lot anyway.
Drop Dead Hideous Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 what if we make green day trending on the hour of the release of their single?
Drop Dead Hideous Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 yeah. we should organize. can anyone make a thread?
solongfromthestars Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I bet Oh Love will be trending anyway. It was gone before I could print screen it but it was trending for a while on the day of Billie's tweets fab page own there
DannyDirnt Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Yeah, I think it'll be trending anyway. Still, we could just tweet with that as much as possible to help it.
Ritz Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 That will be easy to do, the world will be hooked to Green Day on monday !
Bastard of 1967 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Already warned the wife that she's on her own with our little girl at 8am Central on Monday. Jury is still out as to whether I'll be sleeping on the couch come 8 *PM* on Monday.
Ritz Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Hahaha I'm glad I'm out of town, otherwise I would have been harassed by my mom xD
