DannyDirnt Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 If Simple Plan did a cover of Hit Me Baby One More Time, so why Green Day couldn't do Wannabe? They'are unpredictable. They can also make a cover of Justin Bieber. Last name was just a joke I'd like to hear The Clash cover but I think they put some their songs as b-sides. Well, I think that if Green Day covered the Spice Girls, most of their fans would hate it.

Simple Plan has a younger fanbase that actually likes and thinks them covering Britney is fun. If GD would cover the Spice Girls I think most of the fans would kill themselves...
Sixtrix Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Well, I think that if Green Day covered the Spice Girls, most of their fans would hate it. I think it's a "fun" thing to do live, but then a short snippet, instead of an actual b-side recording or any recording at all. I think we can at least expect 1 b-side for the first single. But I got a suspicion that it will be a cover. Maybe they will be saving the cool b-sides for later
DannyDirnt Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Wow, it would be amazing if they did cover Wannabe live. If I had a band and wasn't as shy as I am, I'd do it myself. I can totally imagine Billie Joe going "I'll tell you what a want what I really really want" and then Mike "So tell me what you want what you really really want" while the audience has fun xD
Lindsay Posted July 8, 2012 Author Posted July 8, 2012 Can we stop talking about the Spice Girls and go back to Oh Love, please?
DannyDirnt Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Can we stop talking about the Spice Girls and go back to Oh Love, please? We're talking about Green Day covering it. But it's true that that has nothing to do with Oh Love. But something I wanna know about Oh Love: I have never listened to it and I don't plan on doing it till the release, so what is approximately its tempo? And also, you've been talking about 'how it builds up to the chorus'. Does that mean it is slower in the start and goes getting faster till it gets to the chorus?

I don't understand your vivid curiosity about these things since you apparently don't want to listen to it until it's released. Why these "technical" questions that would ruin the surprise? Hahah, sorry, but if I were you I'd listen to that damned tune

And also, you've been talking about 'how it builds up to the chorus'. Why these "techinical" questions that would ruin the surprise? Hahah, sorry, but if I were you I'd listen to that damned tune I don't want to completely ruin it. I want to imagine it. I only know the tempo of I Was There and Welcome to Paradise so I would more or less imagine the speed from that.

I only know the tempo of I Was There and Welcome to Paradise so I would more or less imagine the speed from that. It's a slow song, guitar driven, based on those damned, recurrent chords, but it's extremely catchy. I personally like the vocal melody a lot and the guitar part too. It is hard to compare it to something they have already done in the past. Written in G#, I can see some VAGUE similarities between the verses of this and See The Light.
perfectpitchrob Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I'd say it's around half the tempo of "welcome to paradise", In G#/Ab, and has several spots in the verses where guitars and possibly bass drop out.

We got lights out with KYE, and plus I believe they recorded 40 something songs.
DannyDirnt Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Thanks! Though don't bother telling me the key, I can't play guitar
Harinezumi Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Thanks! Though don't bother telling me the key, I can't play guitar You should try it some time! I don't know anything about music theory but it's fun to play anyway.
DannyDirnt Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 You should try it some time! I don't know anything about music theory but it's fun to play anyway. I wanna be a bassist, but I have no money for a bass.
Bastard of 1967 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 it's super slow, probably their slowest song ever. i only have listened to the first two minutes though (too boring) /stronglydisagree. I have yet to time out the tempo, but just to the ear only When It's Time, 21 Guns, and Last Night on Earth are all slower. As much as Billie Joe claims that he hates ballads, Green Day can pull off an awfully good one when they want to.

Heather. Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I'm pretty sure frunsi was being sarcastic about it being their slowest song ever. It's just... obviously not. A deaf person could tell it's faster than basically all the "slow" songs they've done.
Insomniac1984 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 when did they play Rockaway beach? Check this: http://itunes.apple.com/album/rock-roll-hall-fame-vol.-7/id477076143 It's Rock n Roll Hall of fame Live, Vol 7 (2002-2003) The first 3 songs are 3 ramones covers played by Green Day including "Teenage lobotomy", "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "Rockaway Beach". You can download the iTunes software and listen to the sampler. See you

I wonder why this was never broadcast along with "Teenage lobotomy", "Blitzkrieg Bop"? Damn! Why is it only available to buy from the US itunes store? I was gonna purchase this legally, but now they give me no choice but to find other means

Todd Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 when did they play Rockaway beach? They played it live with blitzkrieg bop and teenage lobotomy in 2002 at the Ramones induction ceremony. It's on iTunes in the Rock and roll hall of fame live volume 7 album. I guess we cant really share it since its on itunes.Whoops, didnt see it was already answered. Sorry aww yeah an acoustic version of a song/some songs would be so cool it'd be cool if they really took Hybrid Moments as a b-side!!...and yeah a Ramones cover would also be cool, i'd love to hear I Wanna Be Sedated ...another Social D cover would also be cool, though I'd rather hear Pinhead, Cretin Hop, or a studio version of I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend. I Wanna Be Sedated is overplayed.
WhiteTim Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Billie can't hate ballads. If he did he wouldn't have composed one for his father! What song is that?
Todd Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 What song is that? WMUWSE. I really dont know what a ballad is. But thats the only song I know of that he did for his dad.

In my case, I would like to hear something like: "Pet Cemetary", "Wart Hog", "I wanna live", "Psycho Therapy" or Ramones version of "Spiderman" (Actually, they played this song once!!)
