Florence Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 But why did people talk while the other were recording new stuff? exactly.
Malleus Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 What's up with all those people not listening to the songs in advance? I mean FUCK IT! Some brave idiots recorded songs at the secret shows, risking to get kicked out. It wouldn't make sense NOT to listen to the songs. I listened to all songs in advance and have the crappy Red7 ones all on my iPod. I have no shame. I'm sure it won't destroy the surprise - all you heard was a certain melody, you couldn't understand the lyrics, because the quality wasn't that good. Now I'm excited about the "Oh Love" single and what they did with the song. And of course I'm excited about the Trilogy albums in general. and a huge THANK YOU to the people who recorded songs at the secret shows! btw I get what you're saying but it's rude to act like it "doesn't make sense" to not listen to them. Some people don't like that and want a totally 100% new and fresh experience going into the songs, don't try to make them feel silly because you like hearing them in advance. The people who recorded them knew the risks so that should not be used to try and force people to listen to them. I listened to some but I'm not going to listen to certain other ones and it makes perfect sense because I just don't feel like it.
Satan Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 But oh well, it'll be a good single cos its Green Day. why do i even doubt them?

People can listen to them or not, it's up to them. It's just my opinion, y' know.
alienlifeform Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 man we are gonna have 36 new songs and you are worried in not listen to like 10 of them??? even you hearing it a lot you'll still have lots of surprises with new songs... even with the ones that were recorded..just because the bad quality of them... and cuz it will probably change a little from what was played last year
DannyDirnt Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 It's not gonna kill you to listen to the live versions, you know. It won't make you like the song any more or less in the long run. It's just giving you even higher expectations. Not expectations. If you already know the song, there will be no surprise when you buy the single because you already know its sound.
-Billiejoezee- Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 The radio hasn't even mentioned anything about oh love. They HAVE though mentioned other singles coming out in MONTHS.
farley drexel hatcher Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Not expectations. If you already know the song, there will be no surprise when you buy the single because you already know its sound. Yeah but we're supposed to know how a song sounds before we buy it. How else are we going to know if we even like it? I understand it's odd that the radio gets it the same day as we do to buy, but it never used to be that way
Sixtrix Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 man we are gonna have 36 new songs and you are worried in not listen to like 10 of them??? even you hearing it a lot you'll still have lots of surprises with new songs... even with the ones that were recorded..just because the bad quality of them... and cuz it will probably change a little from what was played last year It's hard to explain. You know, some find the concept weird that some people decide to not have sex intercourse til after they are married. Why not have sex intercourse before, you have the desire and the sex intercourse won't be less meaningful after 10-100 times. But it's just a choice those people make. A religious choice that is. So I think it has something special to decide not to listen to the live recordings. Besides, I do not entirely see the problem with that, because no one is saying that you should not listen to the live recordings. We each make our own decisions. Therefor I fully respect your choice for listening to the live recordings and I am happy for you that the songs you have heard made you happy and even more excited for the new albums.

Annie, get your gun Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I haven't heard the song, I assume is entirely about "love" ( ) and I don't feel like listening to it 'cause the release date is very close. But I'd love if they do a funny video of it, such as Nice Guys Finish Last, Hitchin' A Ride, Walking Contradiction or Holiday... I know it may not happen, but you never know the way they want to transmit the song, it doesn't necessarily need to be all hearts and stuff. I'm just saying that I really want to see a GD funny video again. Either that or their astonishing performance (but no characters, please, just no more characters)
Ritz Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 why do i even doubt them? Exactly. Its Green Day and we know how awesome they are !
kellista Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I would absolutely love a joke music video (or at least one with a lighter happier vibe). I've yet to hear the song but I think a video of the guys trying to give each other valentines but being rejected would be comical. Makes no sense at all but its what I picture...

iRun Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 dear god yes. i wasn't a fan of the American idiot videos, 21st century breakdown ones were okay, but i really just want another walking contradiction yknow? walking contradiction is my favorite green day music video
Sarcasm Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 dear god yes. i wasn't a fan of the American idiot videos, 21st century breakdown ones were okay, but i really just want another walking contradiction yknow? I want something fun and drastic. Shit being broken, parties and club-show footage, streaking and random shit.
gerardsangel4977 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 The radio hasn't even mentioned anything about oh love. They HAVE though mentioned other singles coming out in MONTHS. The always amazing and wonderful Rich Russo (formerly of 101.9 RXP in NYC: Currently with 107.1 The Peak and 105.5 WDHA) has not only mentioned "Oh Love" (as well as Uno, Dos, and Tre, he's also mentioned that he plans on playing it on his radio show in 2 weeks.
Ritz Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Yes, I think its time we had a music video that was all about having 'fun'. And by the looks of the trailers and the studio updates, I'm sure we'll have one !
Malleus Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I want something fun and drastic. Shit being broken, parties and club-show footage, streaking and random shit. Seriously though. I don't care what the video is like as long as some shit breaks. I don't even care if they have to get Fred Durst to make a cameo. A party/crazy video would set the vibe pretty nicely for this new "era."
Whatsinaname Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Are we, we are, are we, we are the waiting. Oh Love. I'm so excited and curious how this "single" will hit the "radio".
spacesauce Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I love the idea of a joke video. I think it's something that would draw people back in. One thing I love about Green Day is how they have continued to advance themselves, so while I hope they can do a lighter video, I don't want it to go too far the other way--if that makes any sense. For example, I love blink...but after going to one of their shows now too long ago the excessive masturbation jokes were just that, a little too excessive.
Edwood Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I personally think Mark Kohr should direct all the videos for the singles from these albums. He's the only one who has ever been able to truly capture Green Day's unique sense of humor.
Mary711 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 It's not gonna kill you to listen to the live versions, you know. It won't make you like the song any more or less in the long run. It's just giving you even higher expectations. That's not what I said. I just want to wait and hear the final version first.

Billie Joe said on an interview I read "The last record got so serious. We only wanted to have some fun." or something like that. I don't remember the exact quote. It was on a recent interview so I guess he was referring to 21CB.
