Heather. Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I wouldn't mind anything with the band "acting out the lyrics," I just never respond well to plotlines with random couples (OK, 21 Guns was done relatively well, but WMUWSE.... no, just no.) I don't like when the band is narrating someone else's life, because it feels like they should be narrating their own lives.... Like the Boulevard video... kinda cheesy, yes, but at least we weren't watching someone else walking alone

I just dealed with it in JoS but I don't really like that either.

A music video is another medium for them to create art just like a song or a live performance, and like with a song or live performance it's so much more personal and interesting when the band does it themselves. I hope to see them doing more than just playing the song in upcoming videos.
StarKiller Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I don't think a single has to be a punchy and fast song. It just has to be good. And from what I've read, Oh Love seems to be exactly that.
beejeezee Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 For Oh Love I'd like to see a music video like Know Your Enemy, or Basket Case. Just the boys doing their thing.
Dookie93 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 For Oh Love I'd like to see a music video like Know Your Enemy, or Basket Case. Just the boys doing their thing. I wanna see something with actors, that always makes a music video interesting. But that would be cool too!
Sixtrix Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 For Oh Love I'd like to see a music video like Know Your Enemy, or Basket Case. Just the boys doing their thing. Then I would prefer something like American Idiot instead. Because, besides their energetic and powerful performance, there were so many small effects going on that fed the eye. Know Your Enemy was just a very boring video

I don't know why, but for band music videos I always loved those where each member is in a separate cool room playing his/her instrument or singing his/her parts. And you can see each one in different parts of the video. Then there usually is a room where they appear all together.

Just the guys ya know?
Annie, get your gun Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Know Your Enemy was just a very boring video You think THIS is boring?? I think the flaming figures were an awesome concept!
WalkingContradictionPL Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 You think THIS is boring?? I think the flaming figures were an awesome concept! And it caught my eyes and then I became addicted to Green Day :] To tell the truth, I want a bit crazy, even weird video for "Oh love". Maybe it's impossible. However, I show to my cousisn some more interesting Green Day videos. They love Walking Contradiction and Holiday as me.
Sixtrix Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 You think THIS is boring?? I think the flaming figures were an awesome concept! That's the only interesting thing in the video. All it really was, was different camera views giving this idea of being spied on or society secretly keeping an eye on you constantly. In my honest opinion, the video was not dynamic enough for me to really like it.
farley drexel hatcher Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Know Your Enemy was boring in general, lets be honest
Annie, get your gun Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 ^ It wasn't for me and I'm honest about it.
Silent Duck Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I thought Know your Enemy was alright, but everyone on here seems to think it's shit! I suppose it got repetitive fairly quickly.
ScatteredPictures Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Before I came to this forum I loved Know Your Enemy and the video. What happened?
Sixtrix Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I thought Know your Enemy was alright, but everyone on here seems to think it's shit! I suppose it got repetitive fairly quickly. I don't think the song or the video is shit at all. I just always have felt that the video could have been so much better. It never really made a big impact on me. But I got a good feeling about the new video. I don't know why. Everything about the trilogy has felt great til now.
TheJedi Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 i fucking love Know Your Enemy... i dont get why you give it so much hate.. and we're supposed to be talking about Oh Love, but okay
Silent Duck Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 We'll probably just get a lyric video for Oh Love to begin with! They seem to be all the rage these days.
bollard_11 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I predict something involving puppets for the video . . . . .
Florence Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 You think THIS is boring?? I think the flaming figures were an awesome concept! I don't think is boring. Flames = Pyromaniac Flo is happy but overall, the video was boring. Just some flaming shadow silhouettes is not enough for a concept, there must be something more. I felt like there was something missing in the video. Choosing Marc Webb for the following videos (21 Guns, 21stCB, LOTAG) was definitely a better idea. I love all the videos he has directed. I hope he will direct one of their trilogy videos. or I hope they choose... *don't punch me* Sam the Bear

I'm really hoping that they choose another director... or Sam Bayer, he did it great with American Idiot!
TheJedi Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Sam Bayer, he did it great with American Idiot! yeah Sam Bayer would be so awesome. i love all the videos he directed
Bastard of 1967 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 I wanna see something with actors, that always makes a music video interesting. But that would be cool too! Cameo from Adie FTW!! yeah Sam Bayer would be so awesome. i love all the videos he directed I'm not sure who exactly to suggest but I'm thinking that both Sam and Marc would *not* be good choices. Sam's a snot-ass and it shows in his work -- I don't mean to suggest that was a bad thing at all, when the underlying music is hard-driving pop-punk like American Idiot. I think he was a good fit with the band for that style of music. Similarly, Marc Webb is a good artist and overall did a nice job bringing the Christian/Gloria concepts to life in his work for 21stCB -- I just don't think that fits where the band wants to go with their music now either. We're getting a three-episode party and whoever they choose needs to bring that to the table for them. They need to pick whoever suggested that Tre should wear that swamp-thing suit in the recent teasers. That is all.
